Itinerary
Day 1 - Split
Arrive at Split Airport, where our local representative will welcome you and assist with your car hire, providing guidance for your departure day. You will then drive to your hotel to check in and begin exploring Split at your own pace. Wander through the remarkable Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and discover its rich history. After leaving the palace, take time to enjoy the city’s relaxed atmosphere, vibrant streets, and lively squares. Split offers a variety of attractions, from beautiful beaches to festivals, exhibitions and concerts that showcase local culture. Overnight in Split.
Day 2 - Split
After breakfast, we drive a short distance to Trogir, a remarkable town with origins dating back to ancient Greek times. Situated on an island linked to the mainland and the island of Ciovo by bridges, Trogir’s old town is a UNESCO-protected gem renowned for its well-preserved architecture. Often described as a city museum, it offers a wealth of cultural heritage. The 13th-century Cathedral of St Lawrence stands out, especially its Radovan portal, considered the most significant medieval portal in the eastern Adriatic region. You will also see the Renaissance city loggia, wander narrow streets and charming squares, and find numerous restaurants, cafés, galleries and shops. The town’s lively atmosphere is enhanced by regular cultural and music events, providing a genuine taste of Mediterranean life. We return to Split for the night.
Day 3 - Split
After breakfast, enjoy a free day to explore at your leisure. We suggest visiting either Brač or Hvar, two of the Adriatic’s most captivating islands. Brač, the largest island in Dalmatia and third largest in the Adriatic, is famed for Zlatni Rat beach in Bol, the marina in Milna, and its distinctive white limestone, which was used in Diocletian’s Palace. The island also boasts a stone masonry school in Pučišća, the oldest preserved text in Croatian, and renowned olive oil with protected designation of origin. Nearby, the Kopačina cave adds to Brač’s rich heritage. Alternatively, Hvar is celebrated for its Venetian architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Hvar Town, the island’s capital, features the oldest public theatre in Europe and hosts the annual Hvar Summer Festival across historic venues such as the Franciscan Monastery and the Arsenal. Don’t miss climbing to the Spanish Fortress for panoramic views of the town and the Pakleni Islands. Overnight in Split.
Day 4 - Split - Mostar
After breakfast, check out and drive to Mostar in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Situated on the Neretva River, Mostar offers striking landscapes and a unique blend of architecture and culture. We will walk across the iconic Old Bridge and explore the narrow, winding streets of the old town. You will visit the bustling bazaar, a traditional Turkish house, and a beautiful mosque, experiencing the city’s distinctive mix of Mediterranean and continental influences. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 5 - Ston - Dubrovnik
After breakfast, depart Mostar and drive towards Dubrovnik, stopping first in Medjugorje. This small town in southwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a notable Catholic pilgrimage site since 1981, following reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary to local children. Spend a few hours here before continuing to Dubrovnik. On the way, we suggest a stop in Ston, a historic salt-producing town famous for its impressive defensive walls. These fortifications, once part of the Ragusan Republic’s military defence, stretch nearly three kilometres and rank as the second longest in the world after the Great Wall of China. Arrive in Dubrovnik for your overnight stay.
Day 6 - Dubrovnik
After breakfast, begin exploring the remarkable city of Dubrovnik at your own pace. Wander through its charming streets within the ancient city walls, taking in the many sights on offer. We recommend joining a guided tour of the old town to fully appreciate its medieval splendour. Once the capital of the Republic of Ragusa, Dubrovnik is renowned for its impressive stone walls, historic palaces and churches, all of which contribute to its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alternatively, you may choose to book an optional two-hour private tour to uncover the city’s hidden gems with an expert guide. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 7 - Dubrovnik - Trogir
After breakfast, check out and drive to Trogir. If you haven’t yet explored this charming town, take time to wander its streets, visit key landmarks, and enjoy the striking views of the surrounding blue waters. Overnight in Trogir.
Day 8 - Trogir - Split
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on your final morning in Croatia. After checking out, drive to Split Airport where you will return your rental car and prepare for your departure flight.
