Itinerary
Day 1 - Sorrento - Naples - Sorrento
Upon arrival at Naples International Airport, you will be greeted by our driver in the arrivals hall and transferred to your hotel in Sorrento. After settling in, you have the remainder of the day at your leisure to relax and explore the town at your own pace. Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 2 - Sorrento - Capri - Sorrento
After breakfast at the hotel, we take the ferry to the island of Capri. Upon arrival, we travel by minibus to Anacapri, located on the western side of the island, where you will have some free time to explore. Later, we head to Capri town for a guided walking tour. Wander through the charming cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses and enjoy stunning views over the Amalfi Coast. In the afternoon, we return to Capri town to explore its lively bars, cafés and designer boutiques. Highlights include the beautifully maintained Gardens of Augustus, which overlook the iconic Faraglioni rock formations, as well as several small baroque churches scattered throughout the town. We then return to Sorrento for the evening.
Day 3 - Sorrento - Pompei - Sorrento
After breakfast, we set off for a half-day excursion to Pompeii, one of Italy’s most remarkable Roman ruins. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a vivid glimpse into ancient life, preserved under volcanic ash since the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which still towers in the distance. With a guided audio commentary, we explore the cobbled streets and key landmarks including the forum, thermal baths, gymnasium and market squares. You’ll see frescoes adorning the homes of the Roman elite, making the ruins feel like a living history book. We return to Sorrento in the afternoon for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Sorrento
After breakfast, set out on a memorable tour along the Amalfi Coast in a comfortable minibus limited to 21 passengers, offering a more intimate experience than larger coaches. The journey includes stops at the three key towns of the coast. Begin with a visit to Positano, followed by two hours to explore Amalfi at your own pace. Lunch is served in Pontone, one of the region’s oldest villages, where you can soak up its traditional atmosphere. In the afternoon, we visit Ravello to tour Villa Rufolo, a stunning historic villa that inspired composer Richard Wagner. You will return to Sorrento for your overnight stay.
Day 5 - Sorrento - Rome
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you from your hotel to Naples train station to board a high-speed train to Rome. The journey takes under two hours, where your driver will be waiting to escort you to your hotel. Once settled, join a hands-on class in the city centre to learn how to make authentic, organic tiramisu and gelato with a professional pastry chef. You’ll bake your own biscuits and discover the secrets behind this iconic Italian dessert, before tasting a variety of gelato flavours and learning what sets gelato apart from regular ice cream. Overnight in Rome.
Day 6 - Rome
After breakfast, join a small group for a half-day tour of the Museo Nazionale Romano, home to some of Rome’s finest artistic treasures and a place where Michelangelo once worked as an architect. While the Colosseum and ancient ruins are vast and impressive, many of the city’s precious artworks are housed here, including at Palazzo Massimo and the Baths of Diocletian. You’ll explore these quieter spaces away from the usual crowds, wandering through the lush gardens that once belonged to the thermal baths—restored by Michelangelo himself. Highlights include imperial statues such as Myron’s Discobolus and the Old Boxer, richly decorated frescoes from Empress Livia’s villa, intricate mosaics, and a variety of tombs. The tour concludes at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, which contains a unique 17th-century planetary sundial designed for the Pope to track the seasons. This peaceful setting offers a remarkable chance to appreciate Rome’s artistic and scientific heritage in a calm atmosphere. Overnight in Rome.
Day 7 - Rome
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before a leisurely morning to explore Rome at your own pace. After lunch, join a small group tour of the Vatican Museums, one of the world’s largest museum complexes, featuring around 2,000 rooms stretching nearly 15 kilometres within Vatican City. Skip the queues and wander through the corridors to view the vast private art collection once reserved for the Pope. You will pass through Raphael’s Rooms—four interconnected chambers decorated by Raphael and his pupils—before reaching the Sistine Chapel. This sacred chapel, where the Pope is elected, is renowned for Michelangelo’s extraordinary frescoes. The tour concludes in St Peter’s Square, home to St Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in Rome. With space for 60,000 worshippers, 800 columns, 400 statues, and masterpieces including Michelangelo’s youthful Pietà, the basilica offers a remarkable experience. You will have time to explore and reflect here; if the basilica is closed due to ceremonies or early closures, the visit will be outside only. Overnight in Rome.
Day 8 - Rome
After breakfast, meet our driver in the hotel lobby at the arranged time for your transfer to Rome airport.
