Itinerary
Day 1 - San Jose to Turrialba & Rafting
We collect you early from your San José hotel for a scenic drive east through Cartago – Costa Rica’s first capital – and the towns of Paraíso, Cervantes, Juan Viñas and Turrialba, known as the country’s rafting capital. The journey takes around 2.5 hours and includes a stop for a traditional Costa Rican breakfast before we reach the river at Finca La Cruz.
At Finca La Cruz, we meet our rafting team and run through a thorough safety briefing on the riverbank, covering paddling techniques and key procedures. We then set off for our first run on the Pacuare River – about 6 miles of exhilarating rapids framed by lush rainforest.
Lunch is served buffet‑style by the riverside or at camp before we continue to the jungle camp. In the afternoon, we head out on a guided nature walk of roughly 1.5 hours to discover the rich flora and fauna of the Pacuare region.
As evening settles in, we unwind with Happy Hour – drinks and light snacks – followed by a candlelit dinner with wine. Overnight in the Pacuare River region.
Day 2 - A Day Of Rafting
Wake to the sound of the river and start the day with freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee and a hearty breakfast at camp. After breakfast we set off on the final stretch of the Pacuare, tackling dynamic rapids and moving through scenic canyon sections. We spend around five hours on the water, supported by professional river guides, full rafting equipment and a safety kayaker accompanying the group. A buffet style lunch is served on the river. At the end of the run we have time to change into dry clothes before beginning the journey back to San José – you arrive at your hotel at around 6 pm.
