Itinerary
Day 1 - Amman
On arrival at Amman International Airport, we meet and assist before transferring you to your city hotel to check in – a smooth start to your Jordan adventure.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash
We drive north from Amman through rolling hills and traditional villages to reach Jerash, one of Jordan’s most impressive Roman cities. We wander its remarkably preserved streets, step into the Oval Forum and the Nymphaeum, and admire the grand Temple of Artemis above the colonnades. Returning to Amman, we explore the Citadel’s Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace and a Byzantine church, enjoying sweeping city views as we delve into its layered past. We continue to the Roman Theatre – a 6,000–seat amphitheatre from the 2nd century AD – before rounding off the day with a street–food tasting in Downtown, sampling favourites such as falafel, sweet kunafa and refreshing sugar cane juice. We also visit the Wild Jordan Centre, an eco–friendly space supporting conservation and communities, where we take in panoramic views – you may wish to pause for a drink while learning about its work.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Shobak - Petra
We travel to Madaba, celebrated for its Byzantine mosaics and historic churches. At St George’s Church we view the famed Madaba Map – a 6th–century mosaic and the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land. We continue to Mount Nebo, an evocative viewpoint where tradition holds that Moses looked towards the Promised Land, admiring far–reaching views towards the Jordan Valley and Jericho, along with the site’s restored mosaics and memorial church. We then follow the scenic King’s Highway south to Shobak to explore its dramatic 12th–century Crusader castle, with towers, gateways and hidden passages overlooking deep valleys. From here we drive through rugged highlands to Petra and the town of Wadi Musa, arriving ready for a full day tomorrow. You have the evening free – relax at the hotel, browse local shops or settle into a café – and you may wish to opt for Petra by Night.
Day 4 - Petra - Wadi Rum
We enter Petra through the dramatic Siq, a narrow sandstone gorge etched with ancient water channels and terracotta pipes – a spectacular approach to the Nabataean capital. We stand before the Treasury, its glorious façade carved into rose–red cliffs, and learn about its design, significance and the legends surrounding it. We explore the city’s heart, including the Royal Tombs, the Roman theatre and the colonnaded street where Nabataean craft meets Roman influence. We climb the long stone stairway to the Monastery for wide–ranging views across Wadi Araba, and hike up to the High Place of Sacrifice, an ancient ceremonial site with sweeping vistas – a rewarding, demanding day of exploration. Later we travel south into the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. At your camp you have free time to unwind and soak up the silence beneath towering sandstone cliffs.
Day 5 - Wadi Rum - Dead Sea
We set off on an adventurous 4x4 journey across the golden sands and beneath Wadi Rum’s towering cliffs. We meet local Bedouin hosts for an authentic cultural exchange – walking with shepherds, learning traditional crafts and sharing a freshly prepared meal in their desert camp. We then travel north to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, arriving at our resort after a scenic drive through stark desert and mountain vistas. We relax and float effortlessly in the mineral–rich waters, try the therapeutic mud and capture that classic drifting–with–a–newspaper photo. You have free time at the resort – unwind by the shore, make the most of the facilities or explore the tranquil surroundings at your own pace.
Day 6 - Amman
Enjoy a leisurely morning at the Dead Sea. You can relax by the water, take advantage of the hotel’s facilities or savour the calm at your own pace. Later we drive to Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport, where your Jordan Express Tour concludes as you check in for your onward flight.
