Day 1 - Hai - Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we’ll meet you and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha. The rest of the day is at leisure – you can explore the city at your own pace or relax and make use of the lodge’s facilities. Settle into modern comforts in a classic African setting amid mature, colourful surroundings. Overnight in Arusha.
Day 2 - Arusha - Minjingu
You have a leisurely morning while we hold a safari briefing, followed by lunch. In the afternoon we depart Arusha by safari vehicle, crossing the Maasai Steppe past village life and fields of maize, coffee and bananas. At Makuyuni we continue towards Lake Burunge on the western edge of Tarangire National Park gate, where your lodge sits on the lakeshore adjacent to the park. We arrive for dinner and overnight. Lake Burunge Tented Camp is set in the migratory corridor between Manyara and Tarangire and is about 20 minutes’ drive from Tarangire National Park – it features 20 luxury tents and 10 lodge rooms in shady bushland with wide views over Lake Burunge. Overnight in Tarangire.
Day 3 - Mto wa Mbu
We set out early for a game drive in Tarangire National Park, searching for its large lion prides and impressive elephant herds. We explore the baobab–dotted landscape and Silale Swamp, then return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we drive north through the park to Makuyuni and continue up the escarpment to our lodge on the edge of the Rift Valley, with views over Lake Manyara.Manyara Lakeview Oasis offers comfortable safari accommodation – ten canvas tents and sixteen self–contained cottages – all with private balconies overlooking Lake Manyara.Overnight at Lake Manyara.
Day 4 - Seronera
After breakfast we set out on a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we travel north west through the highlands, passing wheat and coffee plantations, and continue into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here the Serengeti plains unfold – expect to start spotting wildlife as we approach the park gate. After completing entry formalities, we enjoy game viewing en route to camp. We arrive for dinner and check in at Kati Kati Camp in central Serengeti – a semi permanent tented camp offering comfortable accommodation and a classic safari atmosphere. Meals are served in the cosy mess tent at the centre of camp, and a campfire is lit each evening for appetisers and snacks before dinner. The camp has 15 tents with en suite facilities. Overnight in the Serengeti.
Day 5 - Seronera
After breakfast, we set out into Serengeti National Park – home to the Great Migration of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle – for a full day on safari. We explore on morning and afternoon game drives, pausing around midday for lunch back at camp. The park’s varied landscapes – riverine forest and open woodland, rocky kopjes and volcanic grassland – provide the backdrop to rich wildlife viewing, with chances to spot the Big Five alongside abundant birdlife and reptiles. In the evening, we return to camp for dinner and overnight in the Serengeti.
Day 6 - Karatu
After breakfast, we leave the Serengeti, game viewing across the plains as we go, and stop en route for a picnic lunch. Continuing into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we follow the crater rim before descending to the park gate and driving on to Karatu, where our lodge sits amid farmland with views towards the back wall of the crater.We stay at Tloma Lodge, set on the edge of a valley with far reaching views over the surrounding coffee plantations. The lodge features attractive gardens and a heated outdoor pool, and offers 34 spacious en suite cottages built in the style of an old colonial farm. Overnight in Ngorongoro.
Day 7 - Karatu
After breakfast we set out to explore what is often called the world’s largest natural wildlife arena. We descend about 2,000 feet through the early morning mist into Ngorongoro Crater – the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera – with a picnic lunch for game viewing on the crater floor. Its varied habitats – forest, swamps, lakes and springs, open grassland and sandy dunes – offer a distinctive wildlife experience. We return to the lodge in the late afternoon. You have the rest of the day at leisure before we meet for dinner. Overnight in Ngorongoro.
Day 8 - Arusha
After breakfast, we depart and travel south east towards Arusha, passing the highlands and the Karatu district, Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu. We take in views of wheat plains and coffee plantations before descending the escarpment to join the main road. The journey continues across the Maasai Steppe – a landscape dotted with picturesque villages and fields of maize, coffee and bananas. On arrival in Arusha, we have lunch, then transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
