Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome to Dubrovnik!
Saturday. Welcome! On arrival in Dubrovnik, there is an included pre-scheduled transfer to Gruž Harbour for check in, which is open from 14:00 onwards. After some time to settle into your cabin, you will be transferred to the old walled city for a guided tour. Wander down the Stradun and see the historic walls and ramparts of the city. Take the cable car from the Old Town to Srđ Mountain to enjoy scenic views of the Walls and the Elaphiti Islands. After the tour, return to the ship for a welcome meet and greet cocktail reception and dinner on board.
Day 2 - Dubrovnik city walls, Ston and oyster tasting
Dubrovnik - Slano - Ston. Setting sail from Dubrovnik this morning, we cruise to the small village of Slano on the mainland. Enjoy the view as the ship cruises around the Dubrovnik city walls before continuing to one of the Elaphiti Islands for a swim stop. Arriving in Slano, we wander through this peaceful fishermen's village before continuing to Ston, a once fortified small village famous for its oysters. We'll explore the medieval ramparts and try some of the local oysters in a nearby village.
Day 3 - Mljet National Park and its famous salt lakes
Ston - Mljet - Polaca/Pomena. We head further north to the island of Mljet. Legend says the Greek hero Odysseus spent years on this island when he was captured by the nymph Calypso. Join the cruise manager for a stroll to the famous salt lakes in the Mljet National Park and enjoy the boat ride to St Mary Isle to visit an ancient Benedictine Monastery, an old abbey and a church which date back to the 12th century. Alternatively, you can rent kayaks, bicycles, scooters or convertible cars to roam around the National Park and island independently, but beware of the nymphs! There's plenty of free time before the Captain's dinner and we overnight in the port of Pomena or Polaca.
Day 4 - Korcula Island, the birthplace of Marco Polo
Polaca/Pomena - Korcula. We depart early this morning to reach the island of Korcula, best known as the birthplace of the famed explorer Marco Polo. We’ll stop for lunch in one of the secluded bays en route. We enjoy a guided walking tour of this enchanting settlement, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the Mediterranean. The fish bone street pattern in Korcula Old Town was designed to reduce the effects of wind and sun and provide citizens with sheltered and comfortable accommodation. Korcula has an abundant choice of restaurants at which to enjoy a gourmet experience, plus numerous bars and clubs for those looking for evening entertainment, so why not head out and explore in the evening? There is also an optional excursion to a small village near Korcula for a typical Dalmatian dinner (fee paid on arrival – approx. EUR 45-60pp) and to learn about the history and traditional way of living.
Day 5 - Vis: 'the Mediterranean as it once was'
Korcula - Vis/Komiza. We cruise to the island of Vis, once a strategic Naval Yugoslav Base and closed to the public until 1991. Due to this isolation, Vis has a special charm, “the Mediterranean as it once was” making it a really interesting place to visit. Vis town is situated on the northern side of the island, developed near the remains of ancient Issa, the first urban centre in Croatia. You'll want to try some exquisite local wine in one of Vis’s traditional wineries. Other things to do with your free time include exploring the remains of the Roman Thermal Place, visiting the City Museum or simply taking a walk to enjoy the view of the beautiful Villae Rusticae situated along the waterfront. Overnight in Vis and Komiza.
Day 6 - Spectacular Hvar and optional visit to the Blue Cave
Vis/Komiza - Hvar. Early in the morning, we cruise to the small island of Bisevo to visit the Blue Cave, a magnificent, waterlogged sea cave, which is illuminated in blue light (weather dependant and pay on arrival, approx. EUR 18pp). We then continue towards the jet-set island of Hvar with a swim stop and lunch on board at the Pakleni Islands. Hvar is the longest and sunniest island in the Adriatic and is known for its lavish lavender fields and breathtaking beauty. We'll enjoy a guided tour of the town, taking in highlights such as the Renaissance Cathedral with its original tower, and the oldest community theatre in Europe - founded in 1612. Hike up the zig-zag path to the town fort overlooking the harbour. Here you can take in lovely scenic views of the Pakleni Islands. This evening, enjoy some of Hvar's abundant hospitality options - there are numerous restaurants, bars and cafes open long into the night.
Day 7 - Zlatni Rat Beach & Split/Trogir
Hvar - Bol - Trogir. Today is our final day of sailing and we depart to Brac, where a swimming stop is made at the most famous beach in Dalmatia – Zlatni Rat. Located near Bol, the shingle beach shifts from side to side as the wind and waves constantly change its shape. Bol is a typical fishermen’s village converted into a popular tourist destination.
We continue to Trogir, and on arrival enjoy a guided tour of the city, a historical town under UNESCO protection, and enjoy a guided city tour upon arrival in the early afternoon. Wander through its maze of cobbled streets, admire its stunning medieval architecture, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. After the tour of Trogir, enjoy time at leisure to explore its picturesque streets and choose a restaurant for dinner.
Day 8 - Farewell Croatia...
Saturday. Trogir. Breakfast onboard and then time to say goodbye to the crew and your fellow travellers! Check out by 9.00am with an included pre-scheduled transfer from Trogir to Split Airport.
Please note: For guests with post-cruise arrangements in Split or afternoon flight departures, a complimentary morning shuttle transfer from the marina to Split will be organised. Departure is at 09:30am, with arrival in Split expected around 10:30am.
