Island Hopping Athens Mykonos Santorini Exploration

Upon arrival at Athens airport or Piraeus port, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The afternoon is free to explore the vibrant city at your own pace. You might visit Syntagma Square, the bustling heart of Athens, and enjoy a leisurely walk through the charming alleys of Plaka, where numerous small shops offer souvenirs and local arts and crafts. After breakfast, enjoy a free day at your own pace or join our optional half-day Athens city tour. Meet your guide and board the coach to explore the city’s striking contrasts. We visit the Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, then pass the Prime Minister’s residence, guarded by the traditional Evzones in their distinctive uniforms. We continue past the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament building, the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis, we explore the architectural highlights of Athens’ Golden Age: the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, and the Parthenon. The tour concludes at the New Acropolis Museum, home to many classical treasures (please note that visiting hours may affect the order of the itinerary). We return to the hotel around 13:30. The afternoon is yours to relax, sample local cuisine at a traditional taverna, or wander the ancient streets once more to soak up the city’s unique atmosphere. Overnight in Athens.

After breakfast, your driver will collect you from your Athens hotel and transfer you to Piraeus Port to board the ferry to Mykonos. Upon arrival at Mykonos Port, you will be met and taken to your hotel for check-in. The afternoon is yours to begin exploring this vibrant island. Wander through the whitewashed streets of Chora, the island’s capital, and soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. You might choose to dine at a local taverna or enjoy your first cocktail at one of the waterfront beach bars (own expense). Overnight in Mykonos.

After breakfast, take a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Chora to begin your exploration of Cycladic heritage. The narrow marble lanes, whitewashed houses with colourful doors and window frames, vibrant bougainvillaea and hidden churches offer a vivid glimpse into local architecture and culture. Visit the church of Panagia Paraportiani, the Town Hall, and the castle overlooking the harbour. Explore the Archaeological, Folklore and Maritime Museums to deepen your understanding of the island’s history. Wander along the pedestrian shopping streets, stopping at the fashionable Maoyanni area to browse brand-name stores or enjoy a drink at one of the stylish cafés or restaurants. On the bustling waterfront, admire the colourful fishing boats reflected in the clear blue waters and visit the Kazarma building, once the home of Manto Mavrogenous, a heroine of the Greek Revolution. Later, head to Ano Mera village, where the central square with its traditional cafés, restaurants and large marble fountain creates a welcoming atmosphere. Visit the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, known for its unique icon of the Virgin Mary, making Ano Mera the most authentic village on the island. Finally, unwind at some of Mykonos’s most popular beaches such as Kalafatis, Agios Stefanos and Agios Giannis, all offering stunning views of the nearby island of Delos, before returning to your hotel with a day full of memorable experiences. The rest of the day is at your leisure to unwind on Santorini’s distinctive white sandy beaches or explore the island’s unique history and striking volcanic landscape. Overnight in Santorini.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before a morning at leisure to explore Santorini at your own pace. In the evening, experience one of the world’s most stunning sunsets from Oia village. Perched atop a dramatic cliff, Oia offers breathtaking views over the volcanic caldera and the island of Thirassia, making it an unforgettable sight. Overnight in Santorini.
