You’ll explore Teotihuacan’s mighty pyramids and the Basilica of Guadalupe, then head through the Pueblos Mágicos of Tepoztlán and Taxco – famous for whitewashed lanes and silver workshops. Itinerary
Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico City. We’ll meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel – included. After check-in, you’ll have free time to relax or start exploring nearby. Our guide will contact you late in the afternoon.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
After breakfast, we begin at the Plaza of the Three Cultures – where past and present meet – before continuing 40 km from the capital to Teotihuacan, with entrance included. Here we explore the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel and the Avenue of the Dead, and we stop at a local artisan centre. On the return to the city we visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, dedicated to the patroness of Latin America. Back at the hotel, you have the rest of the day free to relax or explore at your own pace.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Tepoztlan - Cuernavaca - Taxco
After breakfast, we leave Mexico City for the state of Morelos – first stop Tepoztlán, a Pueblo Mágico known for its spiritual and wellness focus, set against a green hillside topped by a small pyramid. You’ll have free time to wander the streets or browse the artisan market.We then continue to Cuernavaca, the state capital and the City of Eternal Spring, with origins before the Spanish conquest. It later became a retreat for Aztec nobility and the colonial elite. Highlights include the Palace of Hernán Cortés, the cathedral and the city’s gardens and parks. You’ll have free time for lunch.From here we travel to Taxco in Guerrero – one of Mexico’s most picturesque Pueblos Mágicos in the mountains, noted for its colonial charm, cobbled lanes, whitewashed houses and renowned silver craftsmanship. You’ll have time to explore before settling in for the night.
Day 4 - Taxco - Acapulco
After breakfast, we travel through the mountains towards Guerrero’s state capital, then continue to the Pacific coast, arriving in Acapulco. You’ll have free time to enjoy its popular beach – you can swim and choose a restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon we include entrance and a visit to the Fort of San Diego, a 17th–century fortress built to protect the city from pirate attacks. After the visit we transfer you to the hotel, and the rest of the day is free to relax.
Day 5 - Acapulco - Zihuatanejo
After breakfast, we travel along the Pacific coast – 230 km – to Zihuatanejo, a relaxed seaside town known for its pristine beaches and cobbled streets. Once a quiet fishing village, it has retained its distinctive charm. We include a short boat ride of around 10 minutes to Playa Las Gatas – accessible only by sea – where you can swim, unwind and choose a local restaurant for lunch. After returning by boat, we settle you into your accommodation and you have the rest of the day free.Please note that during peak season, accommodation in Zihuatanejo may be limited – in this case we may depart in the late afternoon to stay in Lázaro Cárdenas.
Day 6 - Zihuatanejo - Janitzio - Patzcuaro
We leave Zihuatanejo as the scenery shifts – desert landscapes give way to the green mountains of Michoacan. Our first stop is Lake Patzcuaro, where we board a boat for about 30 minutes to reach Janitzio, an island inhabited by the Purépecha community and known for preserving its traditions, including distinctive butterfly net fishing. You’ll have time to choose a local restaurant for lunch, stroll the traditional streets and, if you wish, climb to the statue of José María Morelos. We then return by boat to Patzcuaro – one of Mexico’s most beautiful colonial towns – noted for its indigenous roots, colonial architecture and lively artisan markets.
Day 7 - Patzcuaro - Morelia - Cuitzeo del porvenir - Mexico City
We depart for Morelia, the capital of Michoacán and a UNESCO World Heritage city, celebrated for its pink stone architecture and elegant historic centre. We take in the key landmarks – the Cathedral, Plaza de Armas and the university founded in 1540. You then have time to explore at your own pace and choose a spot for lunch.We continue to Cuitzeo del Porvenir, set beside Mexico’s second largest lake. Here, you can visit the Ex Convent of Santa María Magdalena – a 16th‑century Plateresque gem – and wander its cobbled streets and historic buildings. We then return to Mexico City in the evening, arriving at around 7:30 p.m.
Day 8 - Mexico City
After breakfast, our services conclude in Mexico City. Transfers from the hotel to the airport are not included – you’ll need to arrange your own transport for your onward journey.
