Day 1 - Cape Town
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, we meet you and transfer you to your accommodation, assisting with check in. After settling in, the rest of the day is at leisure.If you wish, you can head into the city centre to explore its historic architecture, take the cable car up Table Mountain for panoramic views, or visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront – a working harbour with bars, restaurants, boutiques, shops, cinemas and an aquarium, plus regular live entertainment in the outdoor amphitheatre. These activities are suggestions only and not included.Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 2 - Cape Town - Stellenbosch - Cape Town
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel with our guide to Stellenbosch – founded in 1679 and South Africa’s second oldest town – for a guided culinary walking tour. We explore the historic heart of this vibrant university town, hear the stories behind key landmarks and visit the oldest restored townhouse in the country. We continue with an indigenous tea and rusk tasting at a small, family run butchery. Back in the town centre, we enjoy a wine tasting at a trendy venue – alcohol free options are available – before sitting down to a heritage lunch platter featuring South African favourites. We round things off with a trilogy of Cape desserts traditionally baked by South African grandmothers, then sample sweets at Stellenbosch’s oldest shop, Oom Samie se Winkel. You then have time at leisure until the agreed return to Cape Town. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 3 - Cape Town
After breakfast, meet your guide at 08:30 in the hotel reception for a day of culture and cuisine. We begin at the Company’s Garden – established in the 17th century by the Dutch East India Company to supply its fleet and trade with visiting mariners – where trees, shrubs and flowers surround historic buildings, including Parliament and the Tuinhuis, the State President’s guest house. We continue to the Adderley Street flower market and lively Greenmarket Square, then drive up to Signal Hill for panoramic views of the city. Next, we head to the Bo Kaap to admire its colourful houses and stroll the main historic streets while learning about the area’s people, culture and traditions. We then cook with a local family, learning to prepare a typical Cape Malay meal – samosas, rotis and koeksisters – and enjoy our creations for lunch. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 4 - Cape Town - Hout Bay - Noordhoek - Cape Town
After breakfast we set off along the Cape Peninsula, following the Atlantic Seaboard to Hout Bay for a stop at a small coffee roastery. As we travel, your guide shares insights into South Africa, the region and its people. We continue over Chapman’s Peak Drive to Noordhoek – note the pass may close without notice – to visit a craft gin distillery for a tasting. Next is a local craft brewery for a beer tasting with bratwursts or gourmet hotdogs. Afterwards we visit an urban farm to hear its story and sample dishes baked in a wood fired oven. The day ends at Boulders Beach, home to a colony of African penguins established in the early 1980s. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day 5 - Cape Town
After breakfast, you have time at leisure – then our guide collects you from your hotel and we transfer you to the airport for your onward flight.
