This region, one of the flattest on the island, is perfect for grain cultivation, with the surrounding mountains protecting it from harsh northern winds.

Seljalandsfoss, fed by the Seljalandsa River from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, is renowned for the unique opportunity to walk behind the waterfall. Skogafoss, another iconic waterfall in Iceland, serves as the starting point for the Fimmvorduháls hike to Thorsmörk. Often called a "movie star" waterfall, Skogafoss has appeared in films such as Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Please note: We recommend bringing a raincoat if you would like to walk behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
