Day 1 - Angra do Heroísmo
After arriving at Terceira Airport, you will be met by a tour representative who will assist you with your rental car, travel documents and instructions. We recommend arriving between 6:00 am and midnight to ensure a smooth start. Once you have settled into your hotel, we suggest beginning your exploration in Angra do Heroísmo. Visit key landmarks such as Rua Direita and the Cathedral da Sé. Be sure to spend time in Jardim Duque da Terceira, a central garden renowned for its diverse botanical collection and considered one of the Azores’ finest. You may also wish to stop by Teatro Angrense and sample the local D. Amélia tarts. As the afternoon draws to a close, drive to Monte Brasil on the island’s south coast. This natural reserve is part of Terceira Island Natural Park and offers several viewpoints where you can enjoy a striking sunset over the city. In the evening, your hotel reception can recommend restaurants where you can experience Terceira’s regional cuisine before retiring for the night in Angra do Heroísmo.
Day 2 - Angra do Heroísmo - Praia Da Vitória - Biscoitos - Angra do Heroísmo
After breakfast at the hotel, join a full-day guided tour of Terceira by shared van to explore the island in depth. The first stop is Monte Brasil, offering panoramic views over Angra do Hero'smo. From there, we travel east, passing through several villages before arriving at Praia da Vit?ria, the island's second city. Here, we take a short walk and visit the main church. Next, we head to Serra do Facho, where you can enjoy sweeping views of Praia da Vit?ria, followed by Serra do Cume, known for its striking ?patchwork blanket? landscape?one of Terceira's most iconic sights. Around midday, we stop for lunch at a local restaurant (included). After lunch, we venture inland to visit Algar do Carv?o (entrance not included) and Furnas do Enxofre, both remarkable examples of the island's volcanic activity. Continuing north, we visit the village of Biscoitos to explore the Wine Museum (subject to opening hours) and its nearby bathing area. On the return journey to Angra do Hero'smo, we pass Lagoa do Negro and Lagoa das Patas. Before returning to the hotel, we visit a local cheese factory, Vaqinha, for a tasting session. You will be dropped off at your hotel in the afternoon to relax and unwind. Overnight in Angra do Hero'smo.
Day 3 - Angra do Heroísmo
After an early breakfast at the hotel, drive to the Whale Watching Centre for a half-day tour, starting around 08:30. Before setting out, we provide a safety briefing covering weather conditions, the boat trip, and the marine species you may encounter. Safety vests and waterproof coats are supplied for your comfort. The three-hour cruise offers impressive views of Terceira Island from the water. You will return around midday, leaving you free to enjoy lunch at your leisure. In the evening, drive to a local restaurant to savour the island’s speciality, Alcatra – a traditional pot roast slow-cooked in large clay pots, which is included. Overnight in Angra do Heroísmo.
Day 4 - Angra do Heroísmo
After breakfast at the hotel, take some time to prepare for your departure. When ready, drive to Terceira Airport to return your rental car and check in for your flight home. This concludes your stay in Angra do Heroísmo.
