Itinerary
Day 1 - Stockholm
Welcome to Stockholm. We arrange your transfer to the hotel, and you have free time to settle in. In the afternoon we share practical information – either in person or on the noticeboard at reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Stockholm
We set off on a panoramic tour of this capital spread across 14 interlinked islands. We explore Gamla Stan – the ‘city between bridges’ – including Stortorget with the Nobel Prize Museum, the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. When conditions allow, we pause at Fjällgatan for sweeping views. The afternoon is yours to explore – we recommend the city’s museums and parks. You can optionally visit City Hall and the Vasa Museum.
Day 3 - Stockholm - Stockholm - Turku Ferry
You have a free day in Stockholm. In the evening we board a modern ferry for the overnight crossing to Finland – accommodation is in en suite double cabins.
Day 4 - Stockholm - Turku Ferry - Naantali - Helsinki
As we reach Finland, we suggest heading to the deck at sunrise to admire the Åland Islands. After disembarkation you have time to explore Turku, a city with strong Swedish influence. We continue to Naantali, a picturesque seaside town of wooden houses, then travel on to Helsinki. After lunch we take the regular public ferry to the Suomenlinna islands – a UNESCO World Heritage fortress guarding the maritime approach. You have time to explore the pedestrian bridges and fortress walls and enjoy Baltic views before we return by boat to Helsinki and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5 - Helsinki - Helsinki - Tallinn Ferry - Tallinn
You have a free morning to discover Finland’s seaside capital. In the afternoon we board a ferry to Estonia – about 2 hours 30 minutes – and we recommend taking in the views of Helsinki and its surrounding islands as we depart. We arrive in Tallinn.
Day 6 - Tallinn
We enjoy a panoramic tour of Tallinn, a capital that has preserved its medieval core – walls, churches, squares and atmospheric streets. The afternoon is free for you to explore.
Day 7 - Tallinn - Parnu - Turaida - Sigulda - Salaspils - Riga
We travel through forests and plains to reach Parnu, a popular seaside resort, then continue into Latvia. We include lunch before visiting medieval Turaida Castle (admission included), set within a large park with sculptures. You can take a walk in Sigulda, a small and charming town amid beautiful scenery. We continue towards Riga, stopping at the Salaspils Memorial – one of the largest monumental complexes in Europe commemorating victims of the Nazi era. We arrive in Riga in the evening.
Day 8 - Riga
We include a panoramic tour of Riga, the most populous city in the Baltic states, where traces of the Soviet period are still visible. Its medieval centre and outstanding Art Nouveau architecture are highlights. The afternoon is free for you to explore.
Day 9 - Riga - Rundale - Vilnius
We depart early for Lithuania, visiting Baroque Rundale Palace, created by the architect who designed St Petersburg’s Hermitage. We cross into Lithuania and see the Hill of Crosses, with thousands of crosses of all sizes. Lunch is included along the way. Afterwards we visit Trakai, a beautiful island castle near Vilnius, and finish the day in the city. Note – depending on daylight, the visit to Trakai may take place on Wednesday after exploring the city.
Day 10 - Vilnius
We begin with a panoramic tour of Vilnius, built on seven hills and often compared with Rome. We see Baroque churches, historic walls, a grand castle, lively central streets and around 1,200 medieval houses. The afternoon is free for you to explore.
Day 11 - Vilnius - Grutas Park - Augustów - Warsaw
We continue into Poland. Our first stop is Grutas Park – ‘Stalin’s World’ – featuring 86 statues from the Soviet era. We then stop for lunch in the lakeside town of Augustów before heading towards central Poland, arriving in Warsaw by the end of the day.
Day 12 - Warsaw
We start with a panoramic tour of Warsaw with a local guide. Home to nearly two million people, this political and economic hub blends modern architecture with meticulously restored historic buildings. We stroll through the Old Town with the Royal Castle and cobbled streets – rebuilt after the Second World War and now a World Heritage Site. We visit the Palace of Culture, reflect on the history of the former Jewish ghetto, and wander through Lazienki Park with the Chopin Monument. The afternoon is free for you to visit museums such as the National Museum or the Warsaw Rising Museum, or to enjoy the lively centre. Our journey ends – please check your flight time in case you need an additional night.
