Itinerary
Day 1 - Tunis - Hammamet
Upon arrival at Tunis–Carthage Airport, your professional guide and driver will welcome you to begin your journey. Depending on your flight schedule, we will visit the Bardo National Museum, housed in a former Beylical palace in the heart of Tunis’s old city. The museum is renowned for its extensive collection of mosaics, offering a fascinating insight into Tunisia’s rich history. Afterwards, we will transfer you to Hammamet, one of Tunisia’s principal coastal towns. You will check in to your hotel in Yasmine Hammamet, where dinner will be served in the evening. Depending on your flight times, lunch will be provided either on arrival or on your departure day. You will spend the night in Hammamet.
Day 2 - Hammamet - Kairouan - El Djem - Sousse
After breakfast, we transfer to Kairouan, one of Tunisia’s holiest cities. Upon arrival, we take a guided walking tour through the old Medina, exploring its narrow streets and vibrant markets. We visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan, founded in 670 AD by the Arab general Uqba Ibn Nafi, renowned for its architectural significance and spiritual importance. Next, we explore the Aghlabid basins—an impressive example of ancient water engineering consisting of two large reservoirs and several cisterns that once conserved and distributed scarce drinking water. Lunch is included in Kairouan. In the afternoon, we continue to the village of El Djem to visit its remarkable Roman amphitheatre, the third largest in the world and exceptionally well preserved. Built around 1,800 years ago, it was primarily used for gladiatorial contests. We then proceed to the Mediterranean town of Sousse, where you can enjoy some free time at the harbour of El Kantaoui. Overnight accommodation is in Sousse.
Day 3 - Sousse - Tunis
After breakfast, we travel to Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque village in Tunis known for its striking white walls and indigo blue doors and windows. Perched over 100 metres above sea level, it offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Next, we visit the nearby archaeological site of Carthage, set along a beautiful coastline. Although the ancient city was destroyed by the Romans, the UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals excavations of homes, baths and sewage systems. We also explore the Carthage amphitheatre, originally built in the first century AD and later rebuilt by the Romans. This impressive venue now hosts the annual International Music Festival of Carthage, welcoming around 30,000 visitors. Depending on your flight schedule, you will either have lunch or proceed directly to the airport, where we will assist with your departure. Breakfast is included.
