Itinerary
Day 1 - San Jose
On arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, we’ll meet and greet you and guide you to your transport for a smooth transfer to your hotel in the city. Settle in and prepare for your first night in Costa Rica – overnight in San José.
Day 2 - San Jose - Tamarindo
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for the coast – we’ll collect you from your San José hotel around 8 am for a shared transfer to Tamarindo, where we’ll check you in on arrival. The rest of the day is yours to unwind or explore at your own pace.If you’d like to add an afternoon on the water, you can join the optional Sunset Catamaran. You’ll be picked up at 1 pm and transferred to the boat for a leisurely cruise along Guanacaste’s Gold Coast, passing bays, white sand beaches and tropical shoreline. Keep an eye out for dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish or even a breaching whale. There’s a stop in a calm bay to swim and snorkel or relax on the beach, while the crew serves drinks and prepares a meal of BBQ chicken, yellow Spanish rice, fruit, chips, black bean puree, pico de gallo and homemade chocolate chip cookies. You’ll return to the hotel at approximately 5.30 pm.Overnight in Tamarindo.
Day 3 - Tamarindo
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free day in Tamarindo to relax on the beach, catch some waves and explore at your own pace. If you’d like an adventure, you can join the optional ATV & Zipline Combo – it departs at either 7.30 am or 12.30 pm and takes approximately 4 hours. You’ll ride ATVs through Brasilito, Flamingo and Potrero, crossing rivers and creeks, before starting a zip line circuit with 11 cables, some up to 25 metres high and over 400 metres long. Afterwards you can visit on site attractions such as a serpentarium and butterfly garden, look out for monkeys, browse souvenir shops, then ride back to the office. For a more relaxed option, you can choose the optional Horseback Riding – it begins at either 7.30 am or 2.30 pm and takes approximately 2 hours. You’ll set off from the village of Brasilito along beaches and mountain trails, with stops for photos if you wish, moving from tropical forest – home to monkeys, lizards and butterflies – to open sands where you can, if you wish, gallop along the beach. Overnight in Tamarindo.
Day 4 - Tamarindo - Jaco
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. At approximately 8 am we depart for Jacó – the closest beach to San José and one of Costa Rica’s most visited coastal destinations. Its 2.5 miles (4 km) of beach includes renowned surf spots such as Playa Hermosa, which hosted the ISA Surfing World Championship in 2009. With waves for both beginners and experts, plenty of services and an active nightlife, Jacó is an excellent base for surfing. Overnight in Jacó.
Day 5 - Jaco
We start the day with breakfast at the hotel, then you have a full day at leisure in Jacó. Spend it surfing, unwinding on the beach or exploring local spots such as El Miro – a hillside lookout with sweeping views of Jacó where you may see wildlife like monkeys, frogs and toucans, plus decorated walls and graffiti. If you fancy a spin, hire a banana bike for a relaxed ride around town. As evening approaches, watch the sunset from your balcony, a nearby viewpoint, a beachfront restaurant or straight from the sand. Overnight in Jacó.
Day 6 - Jaco
Make the most of your last day in Jacó. We start with breakfast at the hotel, then you can choose the optional Vista Los Sueños Horseback Riding and Waterfalls tour. Set on a private 80 acre property with its own waterfalls and natural pools, this ride offers the chance to spot wildlife such as toucans, scarlet macaws and white faced monkeys, with time to relax at the falls and try the natural slide. The tour departs from the Herradura base – around 10 minutes from Jacó Beach and Los Sueños Resort – where you will be equipped before setting out through farms and into the rainforest. Your bilingual guide provides bottled water, and the ride lasts around two hours, finishing with fresh tropical fruit. Overnight in Jacó.
Day 7 - Jaco - Dominical
After breakfast, we check out and depart around 8 am for Playa Dominical on the South Pacific coast. This small town in Puntarenas province is fringed by tropical forest and sits at the mouth of the Baru River. Its open beach stretches for about 2 kilometres and is known for consistently strong waves year round – a favourite among surfers across Costa Rica. Once a fishing village, Dominical has grown into a well known tourist destination. Overnight in Dominical.
Day 8 - Dominical
We start the day with breakfast at the hotel. You then have the day at leisure in Dominical – relax on the beach, enjoy the waves or explore the area at your own pace. There are no scheduled activities today, so you can spend your time exactly as you wish. Overnight in Dominical.
Day 9 - Dominical
After breakfast at the hotel, the day is yours. If you’d like a break from the waves, the rainforest along the Dominical coast offers excellent hiking, with routes leading to waterfalls and caves – a refreshing change of scene from the beach. Overnight in Dominical.
Day 10 - Dominical - San Jose
Enjoy your final breakfast in Costa Rica, then check out at the scheduled time – we’ll collect you for a shared transfer to San José airport for your return flight.
