Itinerary
Day 1 - Prague
Welcome to Prague. On arrival we transfer you to your hotel. Check the noticeboards in reception for details of the welcome meeting with your guide. In the evening we transfer to Old Town Square, lively and full of character, where you can choose dinner from Czech, Chinese, Indian or Italian restaurants before we take you back to the hotel.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Prague
This morning we explore Prague, the Baroque jewel of Europe. Our local guide leads a panoramic tour of its foremost monuments, and we visit Prague Castle – admission included – before enjoying a cruise on the Vltava. The afternoon is yours to discover more at your own pace.
Day 3 - Prague - Munich - Innsbruck
We depart early for Bavaria, reaching Munich around midday, where you’ll have free time to wander the historic centre and find lunch. In the afternoon we continue into Austria and the heart of the Alps. On arrival in Innsbruck, you’ll have time to explore the Old Town around the Golden Roof and choose a spot for dinner.
Day 4 - Innsbruck - Zurich
We begin with a visit to the Swarovski Museum, famed for its crystal creations. We explore the impressive gardens and learn about the artistry behind the pieces, then enjoy some free time before travelling to Zurich through beautiful Tyrolean scenery. In the evening, spend time by the lake in the historic centre, where you can pick from Indian, Oriental, Italian, international or Swiss cuisine.
Day 5 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today brings dramatic alpine landscapes and serene lakes as we head into the Interlaken region. Our first stop is Grindelwald, where we pause for a coffee before taking the cable car up the mountain. At the top we follow a winding path to a suspended bridge – cross if you wish for spectacular glacier views. We enjoy lunch on the mountain – included – then descend and continue to Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s loveliest cities, where you’ll have time to explore before we return to Zurich. Note: your guide may offer an optional full day excursion to Mount Titlis – starting in the morning and, after free time in Lucerne, taking a rotating cable car to the summit at over 3,000 metres for superb glacier and alpine views.
Day 6 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We leave Zurich early, crossing the Alps into Switzerland’s Italian speaking region. Our first stop is Bellinzona, renowned for its three medieval castles – UNESCO World Heritage – overlooking the town. Enjoy free time to wander the charming centre. We then enter Italy and stop in Como for lunch, admired for its lakeside gardens and remarkable cathedral. We continue to Milan, where our guide leads us to the grand Piazza del Duomo and you’ll have a little time to stroll before we transfer you to the hotel.
Day 7 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
We continue to Pisa, where we take a small tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli. You’ll have time to admire this captivating complex, including the celebrated Leaning Tower. We then travel on to Rome, arriving later in the day.
Day 8 - Rome
This morning we take a three hour guided tour of the Eternal City, combining a walk through Imperial Rome with a panoramic coach drive. We see the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius and Castel Sant’Angelo. The tour ends at Vatican City around 11:00. Afterwards, your guide can offer an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. At the end of the day we include a transfer to lively Trastevere for dinner options, with return to the hotel around 20:30.
Day 9 - Rome - Florence
We leave Rome and head north to Florence. We begin at the magnificent Piazzale Michelangelo for sweeping views, then walk towards the historic centre. After time for lunch, we enjoy a guided walking tour with a local expert, taking in the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. Afterwards you’ll have free time to explore, and in the evening you can choose from many places for dinner.
Day 10 - Florence - Venice
We cross the Apennines to Venice, then take a boat across the Giudecca Canal to the island of Venice. With a local guide we visit splendid St Mark’s Square, followed by a tour of a Murano glass factory to see traditional techniques in action. You’ll have free time to explore. Accommodation is arranged in the Mestre district.
Day 11 - Venice
After breakfast our journey comes to an end, leaving you with wonderful memories.
