Itinerary

Day 1 - Tintern Abbey, Broadway & Stratford-upon-Avon

Bristol - Tintern Abbey - Broadway - Stratford-upon-Avon. Departing Bristol, we embark on a scenic drive through the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, the Wye Valley. Today it's classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We make a stop at Tintern Abbey on the banks of the River Wye, where your entrance is included. This now roofless abbey dates to 1131! We make a quick stop in the pretty town of Ross-on-Wye where you've got free time for lunch.

Our next stop is the beautiful Cotswolds village of Broadway, the perfect place for a relaxed stroll or to do some shopping and admire the buildings made from pale Broadway stone.

Our final stop for the day is Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of the Bard, William Shakespeare. During free time here, you can see the bard's Tudor birthplace, and the Holy Trinity Church, where he is buried. Stratford is also home to the riverside Royal Shakespeare Company, made up of several theatres. Perhaps pop into the adjacent Dirty Duck pub for a pint, a popular haunt for actors and theatregoers alike. Famous guests in the Actors Bar here have included Dame Judi Dench, David Tennant, Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Helen Mirren - their photos are all on the walls! We're spending the night in Stratford, if you plan in advance, you might be able to squeeze in a theatre show (not included).

Please note: Check-in closes at 08:45 on day 1 (tour departs at 09:00) - DoubleTree by Hilton, Redcliffe Way, Bristol, BS1 6NJ.

Overnight: Straford-upon-Avon

Day 2 - Blenheim Palace & Oxford

Stratford-upon-Avon - Blenheim - Oxford - Bristol. Our first stop today is Blenheim Palace, one of the largest stately homes in England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entrance is included so you can head in and explore. Blenheim Palace was famously the birthplace of Winston Churchill and is a great example of English baroque architecture. After you've explored the palace, there's time for lunch onsite before we continue to Oxford.

Known mainly for one of the world's best universities, there's plenty else to see and do during your free time here, aside from taking in some of the university colleges. You could visit the Ashmolean Museum, Britain’s oldest public museum, or check out Oxford Castle. Much of the Harry Potter film series was made here, so there's some filming locations to check out too.

It's then time to head back to Bristol, where our tour comes to an end.

Please note: This tour ends at 19:00 - DoubleTree by Hilton, Redcliffe Way, Bristol, BS1 6NJ.
