Itinerary
Day 1 - Athens
On arrival at Athens airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your chosen hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. The afternoon is yours to relax or begin exploring this vibrant city at your own pace. Overnight in Athens.
Day 2 - Athens - Delphi - Kalabaka - Kalabaka
After breakfast, we board a luxury coach for a scenic journey northwest to Delphi, arriving around midday. Delphi is renowned for its ancient theatre, the Temple of Apollo, and archaeological ruins. Once considered the centre of the world in classical Greece, we explore the site and visit the Temple of Apollo, famed for its oracle. Following lunch, we continue through Central Greece, stopping briefly in Lamia before crossing the Thessalian plain via Trikala. We arrive in Kalambaka, a small town nestled beneath imposing grey rock formations and close to the famous Meteora monasteries, where we pause for a short visit and the chance to purchase souvenirs. Overnight accommodation is in Kalambaka.
Day 3 - Kalabaka - Athens
After breakfast, we travel to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site of Meteora for a guided tour of two remarkable Byzantine monasteries perched atop towering sandstone cliffs. These monasteries, once inaccessible refuges for monks, offer stunning views across the surrounding plain and represent one of mainland Greece’s most extraordinary cultural landmarks. On the return journey to Athens, we pause briefly at the monument honouring King Leonidas of Sparta at Thermopylae for photographs. We arrive back in Athens early evening for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Athens
After breakfast at your hotel, we begin a half-day sightseeing tour of Athens, covering both ancient landmarks and modern city highlights. We start with a photo stop at the Panathinaiko Stadium, the world’s only marble stadium and the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. From there, we pass the Zappeion and the Temple of Olympian Zeus before continuing past the Athens Trilogy—the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. Our route takes us by the National Garden, Hadrian’s Arch, St Paul’s Church, the Parliament building with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Numismatic Museum, the Catholic Cathedral, the Old Parliament, Constitution Square, and the Russian Orthodox Church. We then reach the Acropolis, where we explore the Propylaea gateway, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and the Erechtheion with its famous Porch of the Maidens. This UNESCO World Heritage site was the ancient citadel and symbol of Athens’ 5th-century BC prosperity. Afterwards, we take a short walk past the Herodion and Dionysos Theatre to visit the Acropolis Museum. Here, we skip the lines to see artefacts ranging from votive offerings and everyday items to statues from the archaic period, including the Caryatids and the Parthenon frieze. We return to your hotel in Athens for an overnight stay.
Day 5 - Athens - Santorini - Thera
After breakfast, we transfer you to Piraeus port to board a high-speed ferry to Santorini. Upon arrival on this stunning island, known for its striking caldera views and charming villages, you will be met and taken to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is yours to relax at the hotel, soak up the sun, or explore Santorini’s picturesque streets at your own pace. You may also choose to join an optional boat tour at sunset, offering a memorable perspective of the island’s dramatic coastline. Overnight in Santorini.
Day 6 - Thera
After breakfast, spend the day at your leisure exploring Santorini independently. Wander through the charming alleys and admire the iconic white Cycladic houses perched on the cliffs. You might choose to visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri, often called the Pompeii of Greece, to connect with the island’s ancient past. Alternatively, explore Canava, known for its vineyards and distillery. Take time to savour the local cuisine—Santorini offers a wealth of excellent restaurants serving traditional dishes that are sure to delight. Later in the afternoon, consider visiting the picturesque village of Oia to experience its renowned sunset before returning to your hotel for the night.
Day 7 - Athens
After breakfast, we transfer you to Santorini port for the high-speed ferry to Piraeus, Athens. The crossing takes approximately five hours, offering a comfortable journey back to the mainland. On arrival at Piraeus port, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Athens for check-in and overnight stay.
Day 8 - Athens
After breakfast and check-out, you have some free time to explore Athens at your leisure before your transfer to the airport. This is an ideal opportunity to revisit any favourite spots or enjoy a final coffee in the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
