Itinerary
Day 1 - New Delhi - Delhi
Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where a tour representative will welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel for check-in. If time permits, you may explore the city and experience your first glimpse of Delhi. As India’s capital, Delhi is a vibrant metropolis where history and modern life coexist, offering a rich and diverse atmosphere. Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 2 - Delhi
After breakfast, we explore Old Delhi, beginning with a visit to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, dating back to the 17th century. On the way, we pass the Red Fort, a significant Mughal fortress. Next, we visit Raj Ghat, the solemn memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. In the afternoon, we tour New Delhi’s key landmarks, starting with the Qutub Minar – the tallest brick minaret in the world and a prime example of Indo-Islamic architecture. We then drive through the Rashtrapati Bhavan district, home to important government buildings and the national parliament, reflecting the political influence of the British Empire at its height. The day concludes with a visit to the Gateway of India. We return to the hotel in Delhi for the night.
Day 3 - Delhi - Udaipur
After an early breakfast, we transfer you to Delhi Airport for your connecting flight to Udaipur (flight not included; we recommend booking Air India flight AI 471 or IndiGo flight 6E 2554). Upon arrival, a tour representative will meet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel and check-in. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and explore Udaipur at your own pace. Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 4 - Udaipur
After breakfast, we begin a full-day tour of Udaipur. First, we visit the City Palace, which overlooks Lake Pichola and houses a museum showcasing intricate mirror work, tiles, miniatures and colourful mosaics. Next, we explore Jagdish Temple, dedicated to the god Vishnu, featuring a prominent image of Jaganath, the universal deity. We then visit Sahelion ki Bari, the Garden of the Maidens, historically a venue for royal gatherings. Later, enjoy a boat ride on the peaceful waters of Lake Pichola, weather permitting. The lake is dotted with islands, including Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas, both home to impressive palaces. We return to the hotel in Udaipur for the night.
Day 5 - Udaipur - Ranakpur - Jodhpur
After breakfast, we travel to Jodhpur, stopping en route to visit the impressive 14th-century Ranakpur Jain temple. Nestled in the Aravalli hills, this temple is one of the largest and most significant in Jain culture. Constructed almost entirely from white marble, it features 1,444 intricately carved pillars depicting figures, animals, flowers and geometric designs. The pillars are arranged so that the central deity, Adinath, can be seen from any point beside them. After exploring the temple, we continue by road to Jodhpur. Upon arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have some free time to relax or begin exploring the city at your own pace. Overnight in Jodhpur.
Day 6 - Jodhpur - Pushkar - Jaipur
After breakfast, we explore Jodhpur, founded in 1485 by Maharaja Jodha. The imposing Mehrangarh Fort dominates the city from a 120-metre-high rocky outcrop. Inside, you can discover well-preserved medieval chambers and enjoy panoramic views over Jodhpur’s blue-hued old town. Later, we drive towards Jaipur, stopping en route at Pushkar, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Here, we visit Pushkar Lake, regarded as one of the holiest lakes in Hinduism, believed to cleanse sins during the Kartika Purnima festival. We take a stroll through the town’s vibrant streets and markets before continuing to Jaipur, where we check in to the hotel for the night.
Day 7 - Jaipur
After breakfast, we take a morning jeep ride to Amber Fort, located just 11 kilometres north of Jaipur. Often called the ‘sleeping beauty of Rajasthan’, this impressive fort is constructed from pale yellow and pink sandstone alongside white marble. The extensive palace complex is divided into four main sections, each with its own courtyard. Highlights include Jai Mandir, or the ‘Hall of Victory’, renowned for its intricate stucco work and mirror inlays, and Sheesh Mahal, the famous Mirror Palace. Later, we explore Jaipur’s ‘Pink City’, visiting the City Palace, the astronomical observatory, the Palace of the Winds, and wandering through the vibrant local markets. After the tour, you have the afternoon at leisure in Jaipur. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 8 - Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra
After breakfast, we set off early for the drive to Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. En route, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital built by Emperor Akbar in 1571. This remarkably well-preserved red sandstone city features a blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture, including the 40-metre-high Buland Darwaza (Victory Gate), Jami Masjid mosque, the tomb of Shaikh Salim Chishti, the five-storey Panch Mahal, and the cloistered courtyard known as Pachisi, where the emperor played chess using slave girls as pieces. Upon arrival in Agra, we check in to the hotel before heading out for an afternoon tour of the Taj Mahal. This extraordinary mausoleum, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, took over 20,000 workers and 17 years to complete. We stay until sunset to witness the marble’s changing hues as the sun dips behind its domes—a truly unforgettable sight. Overnight in Agra.
Day 9 - Agra - Delhi
After breakfast, we visit Agra Fort, the former principal residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638 and one of India’s finest examples of Mughal military architecture. The fort’s massive 20-metre-high walls extend over two kilometres, enclosing a complex of stunning white marble palaces and courtyards added by Shah Jahan. We explore the Diwan-i-Am, the Public Audience Hall where the emperor heard petitions from his subjects, and the Diwan-i-Khas, the Private Audience Hall used for meetings with foreign dignitaries. Following the tour, we transfer you to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi for your onward or return flight. We recommend booking flights no earlier than 8:00 pm to allow sufficient time for the journey, as the estimated arrival at the airport is around 4:00 pm. This concludes your tour through the rich history and culture of Rajasthan, leaving you with lasting memories of this remarkable region.
