Itinerary
Day 1 - Bari
Upon arrival in Bari, make your own way to the hotel and check in (an optional transfer service is available). In the afternoon, join a small group tour starting at 3pm to get a brief introduction to the city. The tour visits key sites in the old town, including the Basilica of Saint Nicholas with its remarkable Crypt, the ancient Cathedral of Saint Sabinus, and the historic Swabian Castle. We then stroll through the authentic narrow streets where traditional life unfolds—local women hand-making pasta, children playing outside, and residents cooking in open-air spaces. The tour concludes in the modern French quarter, exploring opera theatres, elegant shopping streets, the bustling seaside fish market, and lively squares where you can sample local products. Finish the afternoon by enjoying a delicious Italian homemade ice cream. Overnight in Bari.
Day 2 - Bari
After breakfast, we invite you to a private cooking class at the Cesarina’s home. Here, you will learn the authentic recipes of Bari and the Apulia region, gaining hands-on experience in preparing traditional dishes. Meet your host and discover how to make local specialities such as anchovies au gratin, fava bean soup with chicory, Orecchiette pasta, Ciceri and Tria, and Fallipoli-style fish soup. Once you’ve prepared the meal, enjoy tasting your creations paired with a selection of regional red and white wines. Overnight in Bari.
Day 3 - Bari
After breakfast, we take a small group archaeological tour of Bari, exploring key museum excavations that bridge the city’s modern and historic quarters. The visit includes the church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi and Palazzo Simi – the Centre for Archaeology – where a guided tour reveals a small Byzantine church and various artefacts. We then explore ‘Isolato 49’, a medieval housing complex that retains much of its original structure, before touring the underground Succorpo of the Cathedral of San Sabino and walking along the old town’s ancient walls. The day concludes with a visit to the ruins of Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio, nestled in one of the old city’s most charming squares with its narrow alleys. Overnight in Bari.
Day 4 - Bari
After breakfast, enjoy a final stroll through Bari to take in the city one last time or pick up any last-minute souvenirs. When you’re ready, we can arrange your transfer to the airport or train station as an optional extra, ensuring a smooth departure from the city.
