Day 1 - Rome
Upon your arrival in the timeless city of Rome, we will ensure a smooth transition to your hotel with a complimentary transfer. Later on, our friendly guide will meet you to provide all the essential information for your trip. You can also check the hotel reception area for more details on the information sign. This evening, we will take you to Via Cavour, a lively and diverse introduction to Rome's culinary scene. Here, you'll find a wide array of restaurant choices, featuring Italian, Indian, Chinese, and international cuisines. It's a perfect opportunity to savour Rome's vibrant atmosphere and delicious fare. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Rome
On the second day of our journey, we’ll immerse ourselves in Rome's rich history with a three-hour guided exploration of this timeless city. Our adventure begins with a walking tour around Imperial Rome, where we'll uncover emblematic sites such as the Arch of Constantine, the outer walls of the Colosseum, and the grand Imperial Forums. We’ll then move on to a panoramic bus tour, capturing glimpses of the city's grand past, including the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the historic Castel Sant'Angelo. The tour concludes around 11:00 a.m. in Vatican City, where our guide will present you with the option to further explore the Vatican Museums and the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel.Later in the day, we'll whisk you off to Trastevere, one of Rome's most charming districts, known for its inviting eateries and vibrant ambience. You'll have the evening to enjoy the local cuisine and soak up the lively atmosphere before we return to the hotel at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Day 3 - Rome - Pisa - Sestri Levante - Cote d'Azur
On day three, we'll depart Rome and set our course for Northern Italy, beginning our adventure in Pisa. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a brief train ride from the tourist car park to the celebrated Piazza dei Miracoli, where you can admire the world-renowned Leaning Tower. Lunch is included today, providing an opportunity to savour Italian cuisine. Our journey then continues amidst the stunning Mediterranean landscape as we make a brief stop in the charming seaside town of Sestri Levante. Following this, we proceed towards the French Riviera, where we'll arrive in Nice by late afternoon. Please note, on certain dates, accommodation may be arranged in locations nearby on the French Riviera.
Day 4 - Cote d'Azur - Sainte-Maxime - Saint-Tropez - Marseille
Today, we'll delve into the breathtaking Côte d'Azur and the enchanting Mediterranean. After breakfast, we'll set off on a panoramic coach tour of Nice, the region's capital, renowned for its captivating coastal vistas. We'll journey down the iconic Promenade des Anglais, pass through the bustling Massena Square, and admire the old port's charm. Our next stop is Sainte-Maxime, a charming seaside town where we'll wander through its historic centre and picturesque port, which features the 16th-century Square Tower. From here, we'll board a scenic boat crossing the beautiful bay to reach Saint-Tropez. Once a humble fishing port, it now showcases some of the world’s most luxurious yachts, and you'll have the opportunity to explore and enjoy lunch in this glamorous locale. In the afternoon, we continue to Marseille, France's second-largest city, where we'll uncover the vibrant Vieux Port (Old Port).
Day 5 - Marseille - Arles - Avignon - Lyon
Today, we delve into the charming region of Provence, celebrated for its picturesque villages and rich history. Our first stop is Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its well-preserved Roman and medieval sites. This city also resonates with the spirit of Van Gogh, who found inspiration here. Next, we'll journey to Les Baux, a quaint medieval village where you'll enjoy a visit to the Carrières de Lumières. This unique underground spectacle ingeniously merges art, imagery, and sound within ancient quarries. Afterward, we will have lunch and some free time to wander around Avignon, famed for the majestic Palais des Papes. Our day concludes in Lyon, where we'll explore its old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and ride the cable car up to the awe-inspiring Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, offering sweeping views of the city. Please note, if we are unable to access Carrières de Lumières, our alternative visit will be to the impressive Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard.
Day 6 - Lyon - Tournus - Savigny Castle - Beaune - Dijon
Departing from Lyon, we journey into the renowned Burgundy region, beginning our day in the charming town of Tournus. This quaint location is notable for its impressive stone gate and the large abbey standing proudly in its centre. We then move on to Beaune, the heart of Burgundy's wine industry, where you have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and explore this vibrant town. Consider a visit to the wine museum or the historic hospice to delve into the local heritage.Our next destination is the intriguing Savigny Castle, nestled amidst the vineyards. This 15th-century castle is home to a fascinating collection of museums, showcasing motorbikes, racing cars, planes, and helicopters. We end our day in Dijon, the vibrant capital of Burgundy. Here, you can explore the lively streets and marvel at the city’s rich architectural tapestry, including the impressive Palace of the Dukes, which stands as a testament to the city’s medieval and Renaissance past.
Day 7 - Dijon - Abbey of Fontenay - Semur-en-Auxois - Vezelay - Paris
We will depart from Dijon and make our way to the captivating Abbey of Fontenay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we will explore the serene surroundings and gain admission to this historic Cistercian centre, allowing you to appreciate its architectural beauty and tranquillity. Our journey continues to the charming medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois, where you can wander through its historic streets, all nestled within impressive ancient walls.Staying in the Burgundy region, we will pause in Vézelay, one of France’s most picturesque villages. This quaint locale is renowned for its majestic basilica, which once served as one of the starting points for the Way of St. James, a significant pilgrimage route. You will have time to enjoy a leisurely lunch and explore the village's enchanting ambiance.In the afternoon, we will set off towards Paris, taking in the scenic views as we travel. Our day concludes as we arrive in the magical city of Paris in the evening, where your captivating journey will continue.
