Itinerary
Day 1 - Bari - Brindisi
Upon arrival at Bari or Brindisi airport, collect your car and drive to your hotel in Bari. In the afternoon, take time to explore Bari’s historic city centre. While not the most polished city, Bari offers a unique charm and rich stories rooted in its heritage. We will guide you through the winding streets of the old town, visiting key landmarks such as the impressive 11th-century Norman castle and the Romanesque Bari Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Sabino. Along the way, sample local specialities including freshly caught fish and traditional breads from nearby bakeries, perfectly complemented by a refreshing Peroni beer, a local favourite. Overnight in Bari.
Day 2 - Bari - Fasano
After breakfast, travel to your next hotel in Fasano. En route, we recommend a visit to Polignano a Mare, a striking seaside village known for its narrow alleys and dramatic cliffs overlooking the Adriatic Sea. This picturesque town is famous for hosting the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, where elite divers leap from dizzying heights. Explore beyond the ancient walls to the main square, featuring a clock tower and the 12th-century Church of Purgatory, which is open during limited hours. Wander the charming streets before reaching panoramic viewpoints that offer unique perspectives of the village and coastline. Overnight in Fasano.
Day 3 - Fasano
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning in Fasano or explore the town’s historic centre. Nature enthusiasts may wish to visit Zoosafari Fasanolandia, one of Europe’s largest wildlife parks, where you can drive through and observe a variety of animals up close—an excellent option for families and animal lovers. Alternatively, for a quieter experience, visit Egnazia Archaeological Park to explore the ruins of an ancient Roman city, including walls, roads and thermal baths, set against the Adriatic coast. If time allows, stop by the coastal village of Savelletri to stroll along the marina, sample fresh seafood or simply relax by the sea. Overnight in Fasano.
Day 4 - Fasano - Otranto
After breakfast, drive to Otranto, stopping en route in Galatina. Here, we visit the Santa Caterina church to admire some of Italy’s finest preserved frescoes, depicting scenes from Adam and Eve to the apocalypse, accompanied by insights into their history and symbolism. Don’t miss the chance to sample Galatina’s renowned pasticciottos before continuing to Otranto. Upon arrival, we explore the historic fortified district, enjoying panoramic views of both land and sea. The highlight is Otranto Cathedral, famous for its 12th-century mosaic floor featuring zodiac signs and legendary figures such as Alexander the Great. At the rear of the cathedral, you will find a striking display of around eight hundred skeletons arranged in intricate patterns, a unique and memorable sight. Overnight in Otranto.
Day 5 - Otranto
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before spending a free day in Otranto. We suggest relaxing on some of the area’s beautiful beaches, such as Baia dei Turchi, Porto Badisco or Cala di Grotta Monaca, each offering stunning coastal scenery and crystal-clear waters. Overnight in Otranto.
Day 6 - Otranto - Lecce
After breakfast, we transfer you to your hotel in Lecce. Spend the afternoon exploring this captivating city, often referred to as the "Florence of Southern Italy." Wander through its maze of streets lined with warm, golden limestone buildings that showcase centuries of history and art. We begin at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a stunning example of Baroque architecture, notable for its intricate façade decorated with carvings of animals, fruits, and mythical creatures. Inside, the ornate details create a peaceful and timeless atmosphere. A short walk takes us to Piazza Sant’Oronzo, the lively heart of Lecce, where the remains of a Roman amphitheatre hint at ancient performances. Surrounded by elegant Baroque buildings, the square is a vibrant meeting place blending history with modern life. Continuing on, we reach Piazza del Duomo, one of Italy’s most remarkable squares, enclosed on three sides for an intimate yet grand feel. The imposing Lecce Cathedral, with its bell tower and beautifully restored façade, dominates the space. Originally built in the 12th century, it was redesigned in the 16th century by architect Giuseppe Zimbalo, whose work helped shape Lecce’s distinctive architectural style. Overnight in Lecce.
Day 7 - Lecce
After breakfast, enjoy a full day at your leisure in Lecce. We suggest spending time unwinding on some of the region’s stunning beaches, including Torre dell’Orso, Punta della Suina, Punta Prosciutto and Baia di Torre Lapillo. Each offers crystal-clear waters and picturesque surroundings, perfect for relaxation or a refreshing swim. Overnight in Lecce.
Day 8 - Lecce - Bari - Brindisi
Enjoy your final Italian breakfast before driving to the airport in Bari or Brindisi to return your car and conclude your journey.
