Itinerary
Day 1 - Amman
On arrival at Amman International Airport, we meet and welcome you, then transfer you to your hotel in the city for check in – the start of your Jordan adventure.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash
Leaving Amman, we drive north through rolling hills and traditional villages to Jerash, one of Jordan’s most impressive Roman cities. Here we explore one of the best preserved Greco–Roman sites beyond Europe – strolling through the grand Oval Forum, pausing at the Nymphaeum and admiring the Temple of Artemis above the ancient streets. We return to Amman for wide views across the hill country, then visit the Citadel to see the remains of the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace and a Byzantine church, together with sweeping panoramas over downtown. We continue to the Roman Theatre, a 6,000 seat amphitheatre from the second century AD that still hosts cultural events. In Downtown Amman we enjoy a street food tasting, sampling favourites such as falafel, sweet kunafa and refreshing sugar cane juice – dishes vary by day but always celebrate authentic Jordanian flavours. We round off at the Wild Jordan Centre, an eco friendly space supporting nature conservation and local communities, where we relax with city views and learn how responsible tourism supports rural livelihoods.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Shobak - Petra
We travel to nearby Madaba – renowned for Byzantine mosaics and historic churches – to begin our exploration of central Jordan. At St George’s Church we view the celebrated mosaic map of the Holy Land, a sixth century masterpiece and the oldest surviving geographical floor mosaic in the world. We continue along a scenic hillside road to Mount Nebo, an evocative biblical viewpoint where tradition holds that Moses first saw the Promised Land, taking in sweeping views across the Jordan Valley towards Jericho and the site’s beautifully restored mosaics and memorial church. From Mount Nebo we head south on the scenic King’s Highway towards Shobak, passing deep wadis, olive groves and remote villages. We visit Shobak Castle, a dramatic Crusader fortress perched high on a mountainside, exploring towers, gateways and hidden passages with panoramic vistas over the surrounding valleys. We then drive through rugged landscapes to Petra and check in to our hotel in the town beside the archaeological site. You have the evening at leisure – browse the shops, relax in a local café, or, if you wish, choose Petra by Night for a magical first glimpse.
Day 4 - Petra - Wadi Rum
We spend the day exploring Petra, Jordan’s breathtaking Nabataean capital and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. We walk through the Siq to the Treasury, admire intricate rock cut tombs and temples, and trace ancient colonnaded streets that once bustled with traders and pilgrims. In the afternoon we travel south into the spectacular landscapes of Wadi Rum – a route skirting rugged sandstone mountains and vast open desert. You then have free time at your desert camp to relax and soak up the unique scenery. After dark we head into the quiet desert with knowledgeable guides to observe the night sky through powerful telescopes – a brilliant display far from city lights.
Day 5 - Wadi Rum
We set off on an adventurous jeep safari through the golden sands and towering cliffs of Wadi Rum. We join local Bedouin hosts for an authentic cultural experience – walking with shepherds, trying traditional crafts and sharing a freshly prepared meal in their desert camp. As night falls, we stay at a remote camp chosen for minimal light pollution to witness the Perseid Meteor Shower, lying back on foam pads with snacks and hot drinks as meteors streak overhead.
Day 6 - Wadi Rum - Dead Sea
We begin the day with another jeep safari beneath Wadi Rum’s towering cliffs, travelling across sweeping dunes and narrow canyons. We meet Bedouin hosts to learn time honoured skills and share a freshly cooked meal in their camp. Later we travel north to the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, arriving at our resort for a relaxing evening by the water. We float effortlessly in the mineral rich waters, smooth on the therapeutic mud and capture the classic newspaper photo as we drift on the surface. You then have free time at the resort – take it easy by the shore, make the most of the facilities or explore the tranquil surroundings at your own pace.
Day 7 - Amman
You have free time this morning at your Dead Sea resort – a final chance to unwind. You can relax by the shore, enjoy the hotel’s facilities or explore the peaceful surroundings at your own pace. We then drive from the Dead Sea to Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport to conclude your journey, where you check in for your onward flight.
