Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll be ready to transfer you to your hotel. You'll have some leisure time before our adventure begins. Please check the notice board in the hotel reception for details about the welcome meeting where you'll meet your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll take you to the lively Plaza Mayor and the vibrant La Latina district, celebrated for its nightlife and delightful tapas restaurants. For dinner, you have a variety of options to explore at your own preference, with cuisines ranging from Indian and Chinese to Spanish and Middle Eastern. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
On the second day of your Madrid adventure, the morning kicks off with an in-depth exploration of the city's core. You'll encounter iconic sights such as the Paseo del Prado, the elegant fountains at Cibeles and Neptuno, the historic Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza de Colón, and the bustling Plaza Mayor. Our journey continues to Retiro Park, a serene urban retreat where we’ll wander by the tranquil lake and admire the striking Palacio de Cristal. A visit to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to the globally renowned Real Madrid football club, is included and will surely be a highlight for sports enthusiasts. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore or relax at your leisure. In the evening, we’ll ensure a smooth return to the hotel, allowing you to unwind and reflect on the day's discoveries.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
Our day begins with a morning departure from Madrid as we venture into the historic lands of Aragon, passing through the enchanting region of Castile. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where we will pause to admire the stunning Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a remarkable site steeped in centuries of history. Continuing our journey, we arrive at the tranquil Poblet Abbey. This medieval monastery is one of the world's best-preserved, and entrance tickets are included for you to explore its serene beauty. As the day draws to a close, we make our way to the vibrant city of Barcelona, arriving in the evening, ready to further explore this captivating destination.
Day 4 - Barcelona
We begin our day with a panoramic tour of Barcelona, renowned for its vibrant energy and modernist architecture designed by the legendary Gaudí. Discover the city's rich history, from its time as a host for the Universal Exposition and the Olympics, to the lively culture that thrives along the bustling Ramblas. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring Barcelona at your own pace. In the evening, we'll take you to the Maremagnum, a modern entertainment and dining complex situated by the sea, near Plaza de Colón. Here, you can indulge in a variety of culinary delights while taking in the lively atmosphere.
Day 5 - Barcelona - Paris
We'll transfer you to the station at the scheduled time for your high-speed train journey from Barcelona to Paris—a convenient and comfortable trip included in your itinerary. In just over six hours, you'll arrive in Paris, where a transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Your guide will be in touch in the evening, or you may refer to the information signs at the hotel reception for details. Note that this train journey will be made without a guide.
Day 6 - Paris
Today, we delve into French history with a visit to the splendid Palace of Versailles, celebrated for its opulent architecture and expansive gardens, though you'll need to purchase your own admission tickets. After our exploration of Versailles, we return to Paris and make our way to Montmartre, a quaint district known for its bohemian charm and its legacy of artists, painters, and vibrant cabaret culture. To broaden your appreciation of Paris, we embark on a panoramic tour led by a local guide, offering an insightful look into the city's grand avenues and renowned landmarks. Later, you'll have the option to unwind at the hotel or opt for an evening of entertainment at a variety show.
Day 7 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our day in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where you can ascend to the second floor to take in the breathtaking views – tickets are included. Following this, we'll enjoy a leisurely boat cruise on the Seine, offering a unique perspective of the city's landmarks. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your leisure, discovering its rich history and vibrant culture at your own pace. At around 4:00 p.m., we'll depart Paris, journeying into the beautiful region of Normandy to arrive in Rouen. Here, you'll have time to wander through the historic centre, celebrated for its Roman roots, captivating medieval architecture, and grand Gothic cathedral. Enjoy the blend of history and charm this city offers. Please note, if the queues at the Eiffel Tower are too long, we may adjust our visit to an alternative time or reschedule for your convenience.
Day 8 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, take some time to explore the centre of Rouen at your own pace. Once we've leisurely appreciated its historic charm, we'll set off for northern France. Our journey continues as we board a ferry to cross the English Channel, eventually reaching Canterbury. Famed as the religious heart of England, Canterbury boasts an enchanting historic centre. From there, we'll proceed to London. Upon arrival in the city, you’ll have time to wander around the Tower Bridge area, one of London’s most iconic landmarks, before we make our way to the hotel.
Day 9 - London
Today, you'll delve into the vibrant city of London with a local guide who will introduce you to the city's rich history and cultural tapestry. Our guided panoramic tour will take you past iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the meandering River Thames, and the stately Buckingham Palace, where, time permitting, you may witness the renowned Changing of the Guard. As day turns to evening, we'll gather at a designated meeting point in Piccadilly. From here, we'll stroll through the energetic precincts of Leicester Square, the bustling streets of Chinatown, and the lively district of Soho, celebrated for their theatres and wide array of entertainment options. You'll have ample opportunity to select from an assortment of dining venues for your evening meal before we reunite and return to the hotel.
Day 10 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
In the morning, we will visit the British Museum, one of the world's oldest and most renowned museums, boasting a vast collection that spans numerous cultures and epochs. After some free time for lunch, we'll take you to Camden, a vibrant area famous for its eclectic street market. Here, you can explore a variety of unique items and enjoy a choice of cuisines at its numerous food stalls and little restaurants. At around 4:00 p.m., we will set off for Colchester, known as England’s oldest recorded town, where you can wander its historic streets and absorb the atmosphere of this ancient place. Our day concludes with a journey to Harwich, where we will board a ferry for an overnight crossing to the Netherlands in en suite cabins. Please note that due to cabin availability, we may adjust the itinerary, opting for a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or alternatively, arrange a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 11 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
At approximately eight in the morning, we will dock in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland. Our first destination is Volendam, a quaint fishing village renowned for its charming scenery and traditional Dutch character. After exploring Volendam, we will continue to Amsterdam. Here, we invite you to join a guided tour that will introduce you to the city’s highlights. We will view the iconic image of the windmill and the statue of Rembrandt, admire the modern flair of the South District, and delve into the heritage of diamond cutting at Museum Square. Afterward, we will disembark from the bus and enjoy a leisurely walk through the heart of Amsterdam, concluding the tour. You will then have the rest of the day to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 12 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
We depart Amsterdam and journey into Germany, with our first stop in the charming town of Hamelin. Known for its enchanting connection to the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, the Pied Piper, Hamelin's quaint shops and lively streets invite exploration. We then continue our journey, passing through the historical Marienborn checkpoint, a poignant symbol of the division between East and West Germany until 1990. Our day concludes with our arrival in Berlin in the evening.
Day 13 - Berlin
Today, we explore Berlin, the vibrant capital of Germany, with the guidance of a local expert. As we traverse this historic city by coach, you'll witness significant landmarks such as Museum Island, the Television Tower, and the bustling central shopping streets. We’ll also pass by the old cathedral, a poignant reminder of World War II’s impact. Our tour will include visits to the iconic Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, alongside the city's extensive parks. A highlight will be our stops at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, both solemn sites reflecting Germany's turbulent past. The afternoon is yours to discover Berlin's eclectic mix of culture and history at your own pace. In the early evening, we'll head to the vibrant Kantstrasse area, perfect for enjoying the local dining scene and absorbing the city's lively atmosphere.
Day 14 - Berlin
