Itinerary
Day 1 - Malaga
Arrive at Malaga airport and collect your rental car. Afterwards, take a leisurely walk around Malaga’s city centre, where you can explore its museums, historic sites, vibrant restaurants and the charming port area. If time allows, visit Torremolinos, a popular beach resort just under 20 kilometres from Malaga. Known for its long sandy beach and fresh seafood, it offers a pleasant introduction to the Costa del Sol. Overnight stay in the Costa del Sol.
Day 2 - Malaga - Granada
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Granada and check in on arrival. Begin exploring this historic city with a visit to the Alhambra palace, Granada’s most renowned landmark. Perched atop Sabika hill, the Alhambra has stood for over a thousand years and was transformed into a royal palace during the Nasrid dynasty. We explore its serene patios, fountains and detailed carvings, including the stunning Court of the Myrtles and the Hall of the Ambassadors, both adorned with intricate honeycomb plasterwork. The Court of Lions, celebrated by medieval Islamic poets as a vision of paradise, is another highlight. Overnight in Granada.
Day 3 - Granada
After breakfast, we continue exploring Granada with a visit to the Generalife Palace and its lush gardens. This summer retreat of the Nasrid emirs features tranquil water channels and beautifully maintained greenery. We then cross the verdant ravine of the River Darro to reach the historic Albaicin quarter. This neighbourhood dates back to Moorish times and retains its original, labyrinthine layout. Wander through narrow cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, ascending to viewpoints that offer stunning panoramas of the Alhambra set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We stay overnight in Granada.
Day 4 - Granada - Cordoba
After breakfast, we leave Granada and travel to Córdoba. Once the capital of the Moorish Caliphate of Al-Andalus, Córdoba’s rich history is best seen in the Great Mosque, now a Catholic cathedral. We explore the vast prayer halls, featuring hundreds of marble columns linked by distinctive two-tone arches. Admire the intricately decorated mihrab and the side chapels that blend arabesque and baroque styles. We stroll through the peaceful Patio of the Orange Trees, shaded by around 100 trees, and appreciate the detailed arabesque designs on the exterior doorways. The tour continues with a visit to the former Jewish Quarter, where we see the 14th-century synagogue. We spend the night in Córdoba.
Day 5 - Cordoba - Seville - Seville
After checking in to your hotel, begin your day with a morning walk to explore Seville’s key attractions. Visit the Royal Alcazar Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 10th century and showcases a blend of Moorish, Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. We will explore its stunning halls, pavilions, patios and gardens, admiring intricate arabesque carvings, ornate tile work and exquisite tapestries. Take time to appreciate the impressive inner domes of the Hall of Ambassadors and the Patio of Dolls, as well as the peaceful landscaped gardens. Next, visit Seville Cathedral, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the third-largest church in the world. Originally a 12th-century mosque, it features the iconic Giralda belfry, 80 chapels, over 700 religious artworks and a magnificent gilded altarpiece that took 80 years to complete. Stroll through the tranquil Patio of the Orange Trees before heading to Santa Cruz, the city’s most charming old quarter. This former Jewish neighbourhood is a maze of whitewashed streets, alleys and patios, each steeped in history. You may wish to enjoy a traditional tapas lunch in one of the local restaurants (not included). Overnight in Seville.
Day 6 - Seville - Seville
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before spending the day further exploring Seville at your own pace. Step away from the main sights and allow yourself to wander through the city’s charming streets, discovering hidden corners and local favourites that reveal a different side of this vibrant city. Overnight in Seville.
Day 7 - Seville - Malaga
Leaving Seville, we travel towards Malaga with the option to stop in Jerez de la Frontera. Renowned internationally for its sherry wine, Jerez is also celebrated for its Carthusian horses, bullfighting traditions, and as the birthplace of flamenco. The town hosts notable motor racing events and offers a rich cultural experience. After exploring Jerez, we continue to the Costa del Sol, where you will check in to your hotel for your final night in Andalusia.
Day 8 - Malaga
After breakfast, we return the rental car at Malaga airport to conclude your journey. The rental company will provide details of the return procedure and designated drop-off area when you collect the vehicle on arrival.
