Itinerary
Day 1 - Chiang Mai - Mueang Chiang Mai District
We will collect you at 08:00 from Holiday Inn Chiang Mai before setting off for Lamphun to visit Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, a striking golden temple complex dating back to the eighth century during the Mon Kingdom. Next, we travel to the charming town of Lampang to explore Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, a historic temple renowned for its traditional Lanna architecture. After lunch, we take a scenic drive to Sukhothai Historical Park, arriving in the late afternoon. Here, we explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which preserves the ruins of Sukhothai – the first capital of the kingdom bearing the same name. You will spend the night at a hotel in Sukhothai. Lunch is included.
Day 2 - Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District
Begin the day with a meaningful experience by joining locals in offering food to Buddhist monks during their morning alms round. Afterwards, we travel south, stopping for lunch in Chai Nat. Today’s journey from Sukhothai through Uthai Thani to Ayutthaya follows the historical southward expansion of the Siamese kingdom. Upon arrival in Ayutthaya, the former capital of Siam, we visit Ayutthaya Historical Park to explore Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the nearby Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit, home to a revered golden Buddha statue. We then continue to the haunting ruins of Wat Phra Mahathat, famous for the Buddha head entwined in tree roots. This remarkable heritage site is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Breakfast and lunch are included. Overnight accommodation is in Ayutthaya.
Day 3 - Ayutthaya - Kanchanaburi - Ban Tai
After breakfast, we travel through tranquil countryside largely unchanged by time before reaching Kanchanaburi, a peaceful town where the Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai rivers meet. Known for its natural beauty and wildlife, Kanchanaburi also bears a significant historical legacy as the site of the infamous World War II ‘Death Railway Bridge’, featured in the film The Bridge on the River Kwai. We visit the war cemetery, the resting place of thousands of soldiers, and the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, which details the harsh conditions endured by Allied prisoners of war and Thai labourers during the railway’s construction. After lunch, you have free time to explore independently or choose from a range of optional activities. Breakfast and lunch are included. We stay overnight in Kanchanaburi.
Day 4 - Kanchanaburi - Bangkok - Phra Nakhon
After breakfast, we leave Kanchanaburi and enjoy a scenic drive to Nakhon Pathom to visit the temple housing the impressive Phra Pathommachedi stupa, which at 127 metres is the tallest of its kind worldwide. We then continue to Damnoen Saduak, renowned for its lively floating markets. Here, you can take in the vibrant atmosphere as numerous boats navigate the canals, offering fresh fruit, vegetables and local delicacies—a true taste of Thai market life. Afterwards, we travel on to Bangkok for drop-off at your hotel, where the tour concludes. Breakfast and lunch are included. Please note that airport transfers are not provided.
