Itinerary
Day 1 - Munich to Passau Embarkation
Embarkation in Passau – dinner on board. You will be welcomed aboard the MS FIDELIO in Passau. Check in opens at 4:00 p.m.; if you arrive earlier, you may leave your luggage at reception and explore the city at your own pace. We enjoy a welcome cocktail and dinner, then sail overnight. Note: Cruise embarkation takes place in Passau. Transfers from Munich – the recommended arrival airport – or from any other location to the embarkation point are not included; if required, please contact your travel agent.
Day 2 - Exploring the Wachau Valley
Cruise – full board included. We wake as we sail towards Dürnstein, one of the highlights of the Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for vineyards, castles and hilltop monasteries. After breakfast, we navigate this picturesque 35 km stretch, arriving around midday. In the afternoon, you have free time to savour celebrated white wines and apricot liqueurs, stroll the main street, or hike to the ruins of the castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned. Before dinner, we resume sailing – overnight on board.
Day 3 - Exploring Vienna
Cruise – full board included. After breakfast, we enjoy a panoramic tour of Vienna, taking in the Ringstrasse, the Vienna State Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Natural History Museum, Hofburg Palace, the Austrian Parliament, Vienna City Hall, the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), the Votive Church and the National Theatre, among other highlights. After the tour, you have free time before returning to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, you have more time at leisure or you may join an optional visit to the Hofburg, stroll to the Opera House, or attend a classical concert. We depart around midnight and sail overnight.
Day 4 - Exploring Budapest
Cruise – full board included. After lunch, we set out on a guided tour of Budapest, taking in Heroes’ Square, the Central Market Hall, the Synagogue, the Opera House and other key sights. Overnight in Budapest.
Day 5 - Free Time in Budapest
Cruise – full board included. Enjoy a free morning in Budapest – you could unwind in one of its iconic thermal baths, visit the world’s second largest parliament, explore the Synagogue and the Jewish Quarter in detail, or linger over coffee at the iconic New York Café. We resume sailing during lunch and continue overnight.
Day 6 - Exploring Bratislava
Cruise – full board included. We arrive in Bratislava early and, after breakfast, set off on an included walking tour of Slovakia’s capital, taking in the Old Town Hall, Hlavne Namestie Square, the Ganymedova Fountain, the Slovak National Theatre and St. Martin’s Cathedral, among other landmarks. You have the afternoon free. We sail overnight.
Day 7 - Free Time in Melk
Cruise – full board included. Early this morning we arrive in Melk, where you have free time to visit its majestic abbey, a Baroque masterpiece renowned for its library of manuscripts and Bibles that inspired Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose. We return to the ship for dinner and sail overnight.
Day 8 - Passau
Disembarkation in Passau – breakfast. After breakfast, we disembark. At 9:00 a.m. you must vacate your cabin, but you may leave your luggage on board and relax in the common areas or head out to enjoy the city until your scheduled transfer. Services end in Passau. Note: If you require a transfer from the disembarkation point to your departure location, please request it through your travel agency.
