Day 1 - Frankfurt
Arriving in Frankfurt marks the commencement of your journey. We’ll arrange your transfer to the hotel, allowing you some leisure time to begin exploring at your own pace. Later in the day, you'll find essential information about the start of your tour on the display boards at the hotel reception, ensuring you're all set for the adventures ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Dortmund
Today, we journey through the storied landscapes of the Rhine and Moselle Valleys, celebrated for their scenic beauty and rich history. Our adventure begins with a delightful cruise along the Rhine between the charming villages of Rüdesheim and Sankt Goar, renowned for offering the most picturesque views of the river. Following this, we continue to the enchanting Moselle River, pausing for lunch in the idyllic village of Cochem. Nestled on the riverbank, Cochem is proudly overlooked by an imposing castle that has stood for over a millennium.In the afternoon, we travel onward to Cologne. Here, you'll find yourself captivated by its magnificent Gothic cathedral. Towering at 154 metres, it was the tallest building in the world until the late 19th century and continues to be a striking landmark. Take time to explore the lively city centre and soak up the vibrant atmosphere with a leisurely stroll along the Rhine River. Our day concludes as we make our way to Dortmund for the evening. Please note, during fairs or congresses, you may be accommodated in a nearby city.
Day 3 - Dortmund - Fairy Tale Route - Hannover
Today, we'll set off on an enchanting journey along the Fairy Tale Route, inspired by the beloved tales of the Brothers Grimm. Our adventure begins in Trendelburg, a charming walled village where we’ll explore the grand medieval castle and its iconic Rapunzel Tower—admission is included. Continuing our travels through scenic landscapes, we’ll pass through dense forests reminiscent of Hansel and Gretel's adventures. Our next stop is the vibrant town of Höxter, where we'll enjoy lunch and visit Corvey Abbey, a remarkable 9th-century monastery and a UNESCO World Heritage Site—admission is included here as well. We’ll then head to Polle to discover the ruins of Cinderella’s Castle, with another entry included for this historic landmark. Our journey continues to Hamelin, famously known for the tale of The Pied Piper. Here, we’ll follow the intriguing mouse tracks before making our way to Hanover. Upon arrival, there will be time for a pleasant stroll near the old town hall, exploring the city’s charming historical architecture. Please note that during fairs or conferences, your accommodation may be arranged in a nearby city. Remember, Corvey Abbey is not open from November to February.
Day 4 - Hannover - Goslar - Gottingen - Bad sooden-allendorf - Eisenach
Today, after breakfast, we'll make our way to the historic Rammelsberg Mines, a remarkable silver mining site near Goslar, which was operational from the Middle Ages and commended by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Admission to the museum is included, allowing us to delve into the lives of the miners and the enduring significance of this captivating location. Our journey continues to Goslar, famed for its exquisite medieval old town, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll explore its charming half-timbered houses, quaint cobblestone streets, and the stunning Church of St. Peter.Next, we travel to Göttingen, a lively hub of education and science and a former home of the Brothers Grimm. Here, you will have time to savour lunch and wander through the enchanting historic centre at your leisure. In the afternoon, we will traverse the scenic Thuringia region, pausing in the delightful spa town of Bad Sooden. Nestled among wooded hills, this town is a tranquil retreat featuring beautifully preserved timber-framed buildings.Our day concludes in Eisenach, a town offering a magnificent historic centre rich with Baroque and Renaissance charm. It's also where we find the Bach House, marking the birthplace of the renowned composer, and Luther’s House, a site of great importance in the life of the Protestant Reformer. Dinner is included to round off the day.
Day 5 - Eisenach - Gotha - Erfurt - Leipzig
We'll begin our day with a visit to the remarkable Wartburg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its historical significance as the place where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German. Perched high above Eisenach, this fortress offers not only a deep dive into German history but also stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Following our visit, you'll have free time to explore Eisenach on your own and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Music enthusiasts might want to visit the Bach House, where the legendary composer Johann Sebastian Bach was born, while car aficionados might appreciate a trip to the Automobile Museum, located in what was once the main factory of East Germany’s car industry, showcasing a fascinating collection of vintage vehicles. Our journey continues to Gotha, where we'll admire the splendid exterior of its Baroque palace and enjoy a leisurely walk through its charming historic centre. We'll then make our way to Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, famed for its grand cathedral and meticulously preserved medieval old town. A highlight is the unique bridge lined with houses, continuously inhabited for more than 500 years. By late afternoon, we'll arrive in Leipzig, one of Germany's most culturally significant cities. This dynamic metropolis, home to legendary composers such as Bach and Wagner, played a significant role during the GDR era and now thrives with a population exceeding half a million.
Day 6 - Leipzig - Dresden - Prague
Today, we depart from Leipzig and make a stop at the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. This imposing 91-metre structure, inaugurated in 1913, stands as a memorial to a significant battle from the Napoleonic Wars. Our journey continues to Dresden, the capital of Saxony, celebrated for its stunning Baroque and Renaissance architecture, elegant palaces, and picturesque promenades along the Elbe River. You'll have time to savour lunch and explore the city at your leisure. In the afternoon, we head towards the Czech Republic, reaching Prague by mid-afternoon. Upon arrival, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of this captivating city, often hailed as one of the most beautiful in Europe. Highlights include visits to Prague Castle, the bustling Old Town Square, and the iconic Charles Bridge. As the day comes to an end, we'll provide an evening transfer to the city centre, where you can explore an array of traditional breweries at your own pace. Please note that occasionally the panoramic tour may be scheduled for Sunday.
Day 7 - Prague
Today is yours to discover the charms of Prague at your leisure. Immerse yourself in the city's rich history and vibrant culture, wandering through its picturesque streets and iconic landmarks. Should you wish for a more in-depth exploration, consider the Artistic Prague tour on offer. This excursion includes visits to the charming district of Mala Strana, the renowned Infant Jesus of Prague, and the impressive St. Nicholas Church. You can also enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Vltava River, offering unique perspectives of the city, and delve into the history of the Jewish Quarter. Whether exploring solo or opting for the guided tour, immerse yourself in all that this captivating city has to offer.
