Athens City Tour
Today you will embark on a coach tour of Greece's vibrant capital city, named after the goddess Athena and thought to be over 3000 years old. See various sites of interest including the Panathenaic Stadium (where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896), Temple of Olympian Zeus, and Syntagma Square, and enjoy a tour of the fascinating Acropolis Museum, recently voted one of the best museums in the world. The highlight of the morning is a visit to the Acropolis, the ancient hilltop sanctuary housing the architectural masterpieces of Classical Athens: the Parthenon, Propylaia, Temple of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in the old Plaka neighborhood and perhaps shop for souvenirs on Ermou street.
Please note: dependent upon your departure date, this Athens coach tour may operate on day 3 and today will be spent at leisure, please see the Trip Notes for details.
