Ease into the trip at Lakkundi, exploring serene stepwells and temple ruins, then visit Gadag’s superb Trikuteshwara Temple with its carved Shivalingas. Base yourself in Badami, climbing the hilltop fort for sweeping views. A day at UNESCO listed Pattadakal brings masterpieces like Virupaksha and Sangameshwara, while nearby Aihole – the cradle of Indian architecture – showcases scores of early temples. Itinerary
Day 1 - Hubballi - Hubli - Gadag - Lakkundi - Badami
On arrival at Hubli airport, our representative will meet you and assist with the drive to Badami – about 140 km and around three hours in total. En route we stop in Lakkundi to explore its ancient temple remains and finely crafted stepwells, then continue to Gadag to visit the Trikuteshewara Temple, noted for its distinctive layout and carved Shivalingas. We then continue to Badami and check in to your hotel – a comfortable base for the days ahead. You can relax and prepare for tomorrow’s visits. Overnight in Badami.
Day 2 - Badami - Pattadakal - Aihole
After breakfast in Badami, we ascend the hill to Badami Fort for wide panoramic views of the town and its surroundings. We then drive to Pattadakal – a UNESCO World Heritage site – to explore Chalukyan temples including Virupaksha and Sangameshwara, appreciating their intricate carvings and structural finesse. We conclude at Aihole, often referred to as the Cradle of Indian Architecture, where we explore a vast complex of over 125 Chalukyan temples and monuments. We return to Badami for the night – overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Badami - Hubli
After a leisurely breakfast, we depart Badami for Hubli Airport (110 km – around 2 hours). You can take in the last views of rural Karnataka as we drive, before we drop you at the terminal in time for your onward flight.
