Welcome to Dublin! Upon arrival, we’ll ensure your smooth transfer to the hotel, where you'll have the opportunity to relax and explore at your own pace. As you settle in, feel free to make the most of your free time to begin discovering the vibrant energy and rich history of Ireland's capital. Later in the afternoon, you'll find detailed information about the tour's commencement at the hotel reception – a convenient way to get all the essential details for your upcoming adventures. Enjoy your first evening in this welcoming city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dublin
Our exploration of Dublin begins with a panoramic tour of this tranquil capital. We’ll enjoy a leisurely stroll along the River Liffey, visiting its lush parks, historic university, and lively downtown streets, where Dublin’s vibrant atmosphere is palpable. The morning highlights include viewing the exterior of Trinity College, renowned for its old Library and Book of Kells. In the afternoon, you have the freedom to delve deeper into the city’s charm at your own pace. Whether you choose to explore iconic landmarks, enjoy Irish cuisine, or soak in the local culture, the day is yours. Please note that on some occasions, and depending on our arrival time and daylight hours, this tour might be conducted the prior afternoon.
Day 3 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
On the morning of day three, we set sail aboard a ferry, embarking on a journey from Dublin to the enchanting land of Wales—we anticipate this crossing to take around three to three and a half hours. Upon reaching Welsh shores, our first stop awaits in the historic town of Caernarfon, renowned as a World Heritage Site. Here, the impressive Caernarfon Castle presides over the seaside landscape, offering you the perfect backdrop for a leisurely lunch and a casual wander. Refreshed and ready, we'll resume our travels to Liverpool. Once there, join us on a concise bus tour to explore this vibrant city, known for its iconic status as a World Heritage Site and its historic position as the UK's second-largest port. You might be interested in rounding off your day with a visit to The Beatles Museum, a must for music enthusiasts.
Day 4 - Liverpool - Chester - Lichfield - Birmingham
Following breakfast, we journey to Chester, a town close to Wales renowned for its rich history, which is reflected in its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre and formidable medieval walls. You’ll have time to explore these landmarks and the city’s impressive architecture at your own pace. We then head to the charming town of Lichfield for lunch, where you can wander the cobbled streets and appreciate the historic buildings. Lichfield is famed for its striking cathedral, featuring three spires that dominate the skyline. After our visit, we continue to Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city, once at the heart of the Industrial Revolution. Today, it buzzes with economic and cultural vitality. We suggest a leisurely stroll around the town hall and along the city's canals, which boast a network larger than those of Venice. The canal areas are brimming with dining and entertainment spots.
Day 5 - Birmingham - Stratford - Stow-on-the-Wold - Gloucester - Bath
We'll head to Stratford, a historic city established in the 12th century on the picturesque banks of the River Avon, famously known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Here, you can opt to visit his birthplace, a well-preserved Tudor house. Our adventure continues through the scenic countryside to Stow-on-the-Wold, a charming village with quaint stone houses and a picturesque square, home to art galleries and antique shops waiting to be discovered. We'll proceed to Gloucester, where you will have the chance to enjoy lunch at the lively docks before exploring the historic city centre. Don't miss the grand cathedral, a masterpiece of religious architecture where some scenes from the Harry Potter films were shot. Our day concludes in Bath, celebrated for its stunning Georgian architecture and ancient hot springs. You may choose to visit the fascinating Roman baths to delve into the city's rich history.
Day 6 - Bath - Stonehenge - Salisbury - London
As we wrap up our time in Bath, where you have the option to explore the Roman baths, we journey through the picturesque landscapes of southern England. Our next stop is the iconic Stonehenge, where we include admission to this world-renowned prehistoric monument. The circle of massive stones here has long intrigued historians, although their precise purpose remains a mystery. Following this, we head to the charming medieval city of Salisbury. Here, you can enjoy lunch within its historic centre before we visit the remarkable Salisbury Cathedral. We provide admission to this stunning structure, known for housing the tallest spire in England. Our day concludes as we return to London in the evening.
Day 7 - London
Explore London with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert who will introduce you to the city’s rich culture and history. We will visit renowned landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, the iconic River Thames, and Buckingham Palace, where you might catch the Changing of the Guard, depending on the timing. As evening descends, we will rendezvous at a designated point in Piccadilly. From there, we’ll wander through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho, famous for their vibrant atmospheres, theatres, and diverse entertainment options. With an array of restaurants available, you have plenty to choose from for dinner before we head back to the hotel.
Day 8 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
Our day begins with a visit to the British Museum, one of the world's oldest museums, where we will explore fascinating artefacts from cultures around the globe. Following some free time, we will make our way to Camden, renowned for its lively and eclectic street market. Here, you have the opportunity to discover unique items and enjoy lunch at one of the diverse food stalls or small restaurants. At around 4:00 p.m., we will depart for Colchester, known as the oldest recorded town in England, and take a leisurely stroll through its historical streets. Our journey continues to Harwich, where we will board the ferry for an overnight voyage to the Netherlands, settling into en suite cabins for the night. Please note that due to limited cabin availability on the ferry, itinerary adjustments may occur. Alternative routes might include travelling from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp or potentially taking a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 9 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We begin our day around eight in the morning, as we arrive in Hoek van Holland following our overnight ferry journey from Colchester. From here, we take a short drive to Volendam, a charming fishing village renowned for its picturesque streets and traditional Dutch houses. Take in the serene coastal views before we head onwards to Amsterdam. Once in Amsterdam, we embark on a guided tour that introduces you to some of the city's most iconic sights. You'll encounter the classic Dutch image of a windmill, see the sophistication of the South District, and experience the historic art of diamond cutting at Museum Square. Our tour concludes with a walk into the bustling heart of Amsterdam, allowing you to explore the vibrant streets and canals at your own pace. The rest of the day is yours to discover this lively city; perhaps visit a museum or enjoy the local cuisine.
Day 10 - Amsterdam - Bruges - Paris
Today, our adventure takes us from Amsterdam to the enchanting city of Bruges, often referred to as the 'Venice of the North' due to its picturesque canals. The city's cobblestone streets and charming medieval architecture offer a truly magical experience. While you're here, consider climbing the Belfry Tower for breathtaking views, indulging in some exquisite Belgian chocolate, or savouring a local craft beer. We’ll then journey onwards to Paris, where we'll arrive by the end of the day, ready for new discoveries in the enchanting French capital.
Day 11 - Paris
Today, we delve into France’s illustrious past at the grand Palace of Versailles, famed for its breathtaking gardens and opulent architecture. While admission is not included, there's plenty to explore at this monument to royal extravagance. Upon returning to Paris, we’ll wander through Montmartre, a bohemian enclave renowned for its vibrant art scene and historic cabarets. Our exploration of Paris continues with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert, bringing to life the city’s majestic avenues and iconic landmarks. After a full day, we return to the hotel, although those wishing for more can opt to experience a delightful variety show in the evening.
Day 12 - Paris
Our day in central Paris begins with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. You will have the opportunity to venture up to the second floor of this world-renowned iron structure, with tickets included. Following this, we'll embark on a relaxing cruise along the River Seine, lasting approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, providing you with a unique perspective of the city's enchanting sights. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris independently—feel free to immerse yourself in its vibrant culture and endless attractions at your own pace. Please note that the transfer back to the hotel is not provided.In terms of logistics, should you find that wait times at the Eiffel Tower are particularly lengthy, there's the possibility we might need to adjust our schedule, with a future or alternative visit to ensure a smooth experience. As our journey reaches its conclusion, we hope you'll depart with a treasure trove of unforgettable memories from your time in Paris. Do remember to confirm your flight departure time, as you may require an additional night if needed.
