Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Tangier & Travel to Chefchaouen

Tangier - Chefchaouen. Once you have arrived at Tangier Airport, your driver will meet you.
Please note: You can be collected for this tour either from the airport or an independently booked hotel - please let us know your preference at time of booking.
From here, we travel into the city of Tangier where we take time to explore this historic port at the meeting point of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
After our visit, we continue south towards the Rif Mountains and the beautiful city of Chefchaouen. Its Berber name means “horns”, referring to the two mountain peaks that rise above the city. Chefchaouen is well known for its distinctive blue-and-white houses that line the narrow streets of the medina.
As we arrive, we enjoy views of the blue-washed buildings set against the surrounding mountains. You will then have time to settle into your accommodation and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this unique mountain city.
Day 2 - Chefchaouen to Fes

Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes. Today, we depart Chefchaouen and travel towards Fes. On the way, we stop to visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, an important archaeological site and one of the best-preserved Roman settlements in Morocco.
After exploring the ruins, we continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Here we visit the old medina, surrounded by large historic walls that once protected the city.
At the end of the day, we continue our journey to Fes where we head to our accommodation and spend the night.
Day 3 - Exploring Fes

This morning, we spend the day exploring Fes, the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities. Founded in the 8th century by Moulay Idriss II, Fes is known for its rich history, traditional crafts and well-preserved architecture.
Our guided visit begins in the old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world. As we walk through its narrow streets, we pass bustling souks filled with local shops and market stalls.
During our exploration, we visit some of the medina’s most important historical and cultural sites, including Bou Inania Madrasa, Al-Attarine Madrasa, the beautiful Ennajarine Fountain, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II and Al-Qarawiyyin University - recognised as the oldest university in the world.
After time for lunch, we continue with a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the whole city of Fes. We then take a short visit to the newer district, Fes El-Jadid. In the evening, we head to our accommodation for the night.
Day 4 - Fes to Merzouga Desert

Fes - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga. After breakfast, we leave Fes and travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our route takes us through cedar forests, well known across Morocco and valued for their strong, aromatic wood, which local craftsmen use.
We continue to Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean mountain setting. From here, we pass through Azrou, a typical Berber town in the Middle Atlas.
As our journey continues, we travel along the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and oasis landscapes, before passing through the town of Erfoud. From here, we take a rocky desert road towards the village of Merzouga, on the edge of the Sahara.
In the late afternoon, we experience a camel trek across the dunes, where we watch the sunset over the desert. On arrival at the desert camp, we are warmly welcomed by our hosts. In the evening, we spend time with the local team, learn about their culture and enjoy traditional music before spending the night in our desert tent.
Day 5 - Merzouga to Dades Valley

Merzouga - Tineghir - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley. Early this morning, we ride our camels into the dunes to watch the sunrise over the Sahara - a truly memorable moment as the desert slowly lights up with colour. After sunrise, we ride back to Merzouga where we have breakfast and time to shower at the riad.
We then continue our journey, travelling through the towns of Rissani and Tinghir as we make our way towards the impressive Todra Gorges. These dramatic cliffs form the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. Here, we stop to walk through the canyon and enjoy lunch in the heart of the gorges.
In the afternoon, we continue to the Dades Valley, known for its striking landscapes and unusual rock formations often called the “Monkey Fingers”. On arrival, we head to our guest house overlooking the valley where we enjoy dinner and spend the night.
Day 6 - Dades Valley to Marrakech

Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Alt Ben Haddou - Marrakech. We begin the day travelling through the Dades Valley along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, a historic route once used by traders and caravans. Along the way, we stop at several viewpoints to capture some of the best photographs of the trip.
Our journey continues to Kalaat M’Gouna, often known as the Valley of Roses. Here we visit a local rose cooperative where products such as natural rose water are produced using traditional methods.
We then continue to Ouarzazate, often called Morocco’s film capital, where many international films and series have been produced. Here we visit the Cinema Museum and see more of the region’s historic kasbahs.
Next, we stop at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historic fortified village built in the 19th century by the Berber leader El Hami El Glaoui. This UNESCO-listed site is one of Morocco’s most well-preserved ksars.
From here, we continue our journey to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres. Along the way, we stop at a women’s cooperative to learn about the traditional production of argan oil before continuing to our accommodation in Marrakech for the night.
Day 7 - Exploring Marrakech

This morning, we explore Marrakech, known as the Red City and the last of Morocco’s imperial cities. During our guided visit, we discover some of the city’s most important historical and cultural landmarks, including the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and the El Badi Palace.
After lunch at one of the restaurants in the main square, we continue with a walk through the old souks where we see hundreds of traditional handicrafts and local artisan workshops.
In the evening, you have free time to explore the medina at your own pace and enjoy the lively atmosphere and panoramic views across the city.
Day 8 - Departure from Marrakech or Casablanca
Marrakech - Casablanca. Today, you will be dropped off at the airport for your onward flight. Depending on where you have booked your departure flight, you can either be dropped off at the Marrakech airport or the airport in Casablanca. Safe travels!
