Day 1 - Edinburgh
Upon your arrival in Scotland's enchanting capital, Edinburgh, you'll be transferred to your hotel. After settling in, the rest of the day is yours to explore at leisure. Information about the commencement of your tour can be found on the notice boards at the hotel reception. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Edinburgh
Following breakfast, we'll embark on a captivating tour of Edinburgh, guided by a local expert. Edinburgh, the vibrant capital of Scotland, is renowned for its dynamic atmosphere and is among the most exciting cities in northern Europe. The city's historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is dominated by the iconic Edinburgh Castle, which majestically overlooks the city. You'll have the opportunity to explore its steep, charming streets and relish the beauty of its picturesque parks. After the guided tour, you'll have free time to continue discovering this remarkable city at your own pace.
Day 3 - Edinburgh - The Kelpies - Stirling - Pitlochry - Culloden - Inverness
On the third day of our adventure, we depart from Edinburgh and make our way to The Kelpies, where we'll pause to capture photos of these striking horse head sculptures, rooted in Scottish mythology. These towering figures represent the strength and beauty of horses and their enduring connection to water and land. Our journey continues to Stirling, where we'll explore the historic centre dominated by its grand castle—one of Scotland's most significant landmarks. This castle has been the backdrop for legendary battles and royal coronations, and entry is included for our visit.Heading northwards, we reach the charming town of Pitlochry, nestled in a region famed for its whisky production. You'll have time to enjoy lunch and a leisurely stroll here. Our next stop is Culloden, a historical battleground that marked a turning point in Scottish history. The conflict resulted in a pivotal victory for British forces, leading to measures aimed at suppressing traditional Scottish culture.In the evening, we arrive in Inverness, known as the 'Capital of the Highlands'. It's a perfect setting for a sunset wander along the banks of the River Ness, with the city's castle providing a dramatic backdrop. Please note that our visit to Culloden may be rescheduled to Monday, depending on the season and daylight hours.
Day 4 - Inverness
Today promises to be an adventure exploring the striking landscapes of northern Scotland, renowned for its breathtaking beauty and rich history. Our journey begins with a visit to the enchanting Eilean Donan Castle, an iconic site set amidst exquisite fjord waters – your entry is already sorted. We then make our way to Fort Augustus to view the impressive sluice gate system. Here, you'll have time to enjoy lunch and take a leisurely stroll.In the afternoon, we set off for Loch Ness, where a boat tour awaits, offering you the chance to experience the lake's mysterious, dark waters. Afterwards, we will explore the medieval Urquhart Castle, with your admission included. Our travels bring us back to Inverness, the delightful Highland capital located at the mouth of Loch Ness. An exciting visit to a traditional whisky distillery is scheduled, where you'll learn about the fascinating process behind Scotland’s celebrated national drink, with both admission and tasting included. This classic spirit is crafted from barley and cherished widely, not only within Scotland but across the globe as one of the nation's principal exports. Accommodation for the night will be in Inverness. Please note, the distillery tour schedule may vary based on ticket availability and could occur either late today or on Monday.
Day 5 - Inverness - Fort William - Inveraray - Loch Lomond - Glasgow
We'll embark on yet another day of breathtaking scenery. Our journey today begins with a stop at Spean Bridge to see a monument dedicated to the Second World War. We then continue to Fort William, nestled at the base of Ben Nevis – the tallest peak in the United Kingdom. Our route takes us past the striking ruins of Kilchurn Castle, set against a sombre lake, before arriving in Inveraray. This charming historic village by Loch Fyne is home to a grand castle and offers a tranquil setting for a lunch break. Afterwards, we'll meander along the shores of Loch Lomond before reaching Glasgow in the early evening. Here, you'll have free time to explore the bustling city centre at your leisure.
Day 6 - Glasgow - Lichfield - London
We set off early this morning, heading southwards as we journey from Scotland into England. Along the way, we'll be treated to charming views of lush countryside sprinkled with quaint villages. Our first stop is the picturesque town of Lichfield, renowned for its cathedral featuring three distinctive spires. You'll have the opportunity to stroll through the historic centre, with its delightful cobbled streets and period architecture, all while finding a spot for a leisurely lunch. Once refreshed, we continue our travels, reaching the bustling capital city of London by late afternoon. Please note, if our group is smaller in number, we may instead travel by train or plane, in which case the visit to Lichfield will not be included.
Day 7 - London
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of an incredible experience.
