Day 1 - Madrid
Upon your arrival in Madrid, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, where you'll have some leisure time to relax and unwind. In the afternoon, we'll provide you with all the necessary information about the commencement of your tour. This will either be communicated in person or displayed on information boards at the hotel's reception area. We hope you have a fantastic start to your journey! Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Today, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Madrid, exploring the vibrant heart of the city, the stately Plaza Mayor, and strolling along its grand avenues adorned with splendid fountains. A highlight of our visit will be a leisurely walk through the enchanting Retiro Park, a verdant escape in the city centre noted for its graceful fountains, scenic paths, and lush gardens. We will also grant you admission to the esteemed Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to the iconic Real Madrid Football Club, celebrated globally for its illustrious history. Following these activities, you will have the afternoon at leisure to explore further or unwind at your own pace. As the evening sets in, we will offer a transfer to the atmospheric Plaza Mayor.
Day 3 - Madrid - San Sebastian - Bordeaux
Following breakfast, we depart from Madrid, venturing into the diverse landscapes of Castile and the Basque Country. Our first stop is the charming city of San Sebastián. Here, you can take a leisurely walk along the famous La Concha beach, allowing the fresh sea breeze to invigorate your senses. Consider exploring the quaint old quarter, where you can savour a glass of local wine and immerse yourself in the convivial atmosphere. You'll have some free time to enjoy lunch at your leisure before we continue our journey. Our path then takes us across the border into France, as we make our way to Bordeaux, arriving by evening. On arrival, we suggest a gentle stroll through the city's centre to acquaint yourself with its delightful ambiance.
Day 4 - Bordeaux - Chambord - Paris
Today, we begin our journey by travelling through the renowned wine and cognac regions, making our way to the picturesque Loire Valley. Our highlight for the day is a visit to the stunning Ch?teau de Chambord, known for its extraordinary architecture and grandeur. Admission to this magnificent castle is included. Following this, you will have free time to enjoy lunch before we continue our journey to Paris, arriving in the evening. As we reach the City of Light, settle in and prepare for the adventures that await you tomorrow.
Day 5 - Paris
Today, we delve into France's rich history with a visit to the esteemed Palace of Versailles. Although entrance is not included, you'll have the chance to explore its breathtaking gardens and soak in the grandeur of this historic site. On returning to Paris, we head to Montmartre, a charming and artistic neighbourhood famed for its vibrant community of artists, painters, and cabarets. To truly capture Paris's splendour, we join a local guide for a panoramic city tour, highlighting the city's grand avenues and iconic landmarks. We'll return to the hotel following the tour. For those interested, there's an optional variety show this evening, perfect for adding a touch of Parisian nightlife to your day.
Day 6 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our sixth day in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, allowing you to ascend to its second floor for panoramic views of the city (tickets provided). Following this, we will embark on a leisurely boat cruise along the Seine, offering a different perspective of the city's landmarks. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore Paris as you wish. At approximately 4 p.m., we'll bid farewell to the capital and travel to Normandy, reaching Rouen. This historic city invites you to wander its Roman-era streets and admire its medieval architecture and stunning Gothic cathedral, providing a rich blend of history and culture. Please note, if the wait time at the Eiffel Tower is extensive, we may rearrange our visit for a more convenient time or perhaps on Sunday.
Day 7 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Our morning begins with a leisurely stroll through the centre of Rouen, allowing you to soak in the rich history and charming medieval architecture of this vibrant city. After this, we will journey to northern France and cross the English Channel by ferry, arriving in Canterbury. Known as the religious heart of England, Canterbury boasts a delightful historic centre that is sure to captivate. Our adventure continues as we head to London. Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore the area around Tower Bridge, one of London’s most iconic landmarks, before we make our way to the hotel for the evening.
Day 8 - London
Explore the vibrant city of London on a captivating panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. We will delve into the rich culture and history of the capital, taking in famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the iconic River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. Here, you may have the chance to observe the renowned Changing of the Guard, depending on the timing of your visit. In the evening, we'll regroup at a designated meeting point in Piccadilly, ready to embark on an enjoyable walk through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These lively areas are celebrated for their dynamic atmosphere, theatres, and diverse entertainment options. You will have a wide selection of restaurants to explore for dinner before we return to the hotel.
Day 9 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
On the morning of Day 9, we shall visit the British Museum, one of the world’s most distinguished cultural institutions, where you will encounter artefacts and treasures from diverse ancient civilisations. Following this, you'll have some free time to explore and have lunch in Camden, a vibrant area famed for its eclectic street market. Here, you can discover unique items from various cultures and try delicious street food from the numerous stalls and small eateries. We will depart around 4:00 p.m., heading to Colchester, England's oldest recorded town. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Colchester’s historic streets before we continue to Harwich. Here, we will board the ferry for an overnight journey to the Netherlands, staying in comfortable en suite cabins. Please note that itinerary adjustments may occur due to limited ferry cabin availability; this might include a daytime ferry journey or travel by train or flight to Amsterdam, with an overnight stop in Antwerp.
Day 10 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
This morning, at around eight, we dock in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland and set off for Volendam, a quaint and charming fishing village. Known for its picturesque harbour and traditional wooden houses, Volendam offers a glimpse into Dutch maritime life. We then continue to the vibrant city of Amsterdam. Our time in the Dutch capital begins with a guided tour, where we explore several city highlights. You’ll see the famed windmill, offering a classic view of the Netherlands, and the statue of Rembrandt, celebrating the legacy of this illustrious Dutch master. We also visit the elegant South District, showcasing contemporary architecture, and Museum Square, a symbol of the city's historical craftsmanship in diamond cutting. The tour concludes as we walk into the heart of Amsterdam, where you’ll have free time to discover the city further at your leisure.
Day 11 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
This morning, we set off from Amsterdam, making our way towards Germany. Our first stop is the enchanting town of Hamelin, famous for its connection to the Pied Piper of Hamelin fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Here, you'll have time to explore charming streets and perhaps visit some of the inviting shops. Our journey continues as we drive towards Berlin, passing through Marienborn, the site of the former border that divided East and West Germany until 1990. We'll arrive in Berlin in the evening, ready for the next chapter of our adventure.
Day 12 - Berlin
Experience Berlin's rich history and vibrant culture on a guided tour of Germany's capital. From the comfort of our coach, you'll observe iconic landmarks such as Museum Island, the Television Tower, and bustling shopping streets. We'll also view the old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the destruction of World War II, alongside the historic Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. Our tour includes stops at two significant sites: the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, each offering a profound insight into Germany's complex history. Day 13 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
Today, our journey takes us through the enchanting landscapes as we head towards Dresden, a city acclaimed for its remarkable architectural and artistic heritage. These treasures make it one of Germany's premier tourist destinations. You'll have free time here to wander among the magnificent palaces and indulge in lunch at one of the city’s many inviting restaurants or cosy coffee shops. Later in the day, we'll set off for the Czech Republic, arriving in the captivating city of Prague. Our first stop is the bustling Old Town Square, a lively area teeming with energy and vibrant activities. It’s the perfect introduction to Prague, where you can choose to dine at a myriad of restaurants offering cuisines from around the world, including local Czech specialities, as well as Chinese, Indian, and Italian options. After an exciting evening, we'll make our way back to the hotel.
Day 14 - Prague
Today, we explore Prague, the stunning Baroque gem of Europe. Our local guide will lead an insightful panoramic tour, highlighting the city's most renowned landmarks. During our exploration, we will visit the magnificent Prague Castle, with admission included. Following this, we'll enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Vltava River, also included in the day's activities. In the afternoon, you’re free to discover the charms of the city at your own pace, perhaps wandering its historic streets or enjoying a cosy café.
Day 15 - Prague - Munich - Innsbruck
We begin our day with an early departure, venturing into the picturesque region of Bavaria, Germany. Our first stop is Munich, where we arrive by midday. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to leisurely explore the historic city centre, brimming with vibrant cultural landmarks and inviting locales perfect for grabbing a spot of lunch. In the afternoon, we continue our journey into the heart of Austria, arriving in the stunning alpine city of Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. Take some time to wander through the charming streets and perhaps enjoy a meal in the iconic Golden Roof area and the enchanting Old Town, each offering a delightful taste of Austrian culture and hospitality.
Day 16 - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Today, we embark on a visit to the Swarovski Crystal Worlds – a mesmerising museum showcasing the world-renowned crystals. We will explore its stunning gardens and uncover the fascinating process behind crafting these exquisite pieces. Following this, you'll have the opportunity to wander through the charming historic centre of Innsbruck at your leisure. Our journey then takes us through picturesque mountain roads, leading us to Kitzbühel – a Tyrolean town celebrated for its year-round skiing and the iconic Hahnenkamm Race, a highlight in the world of alpine skiing. We complete our day by arriving in Salzburg, known for its cultural heritage, by evening.
Day 17 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Today promises a delightful journey through Austria's stunning landscapes. We begin our exploration in Salzburg, a city imbued with the spirit of Mozart, where the elegant Renaissance and Baroque architecture stands proudly beneath its imposing castle. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this picturesque city before we travel through the enchanting lakes and mountains. Our next stop is St. Wolfgang, a famed pilgrimage site, set amidst breathtaking scenery.Continuing our adventure, we head to Traunkirchen, beautifully situated on the shores of the serene Lake Traunsee. Here, we have included a charming cruise that navigates the lake, offering captivating views of four historic castles before arriving in Gmunden. After this scenic treat, we resume our journey to Vienna, where we arrive in the evening, ready to unwind and anticipate the adventures that await.
Day 18 - Vienna
Today, we will delve into the marvellous city of Vienna, starting with a guided panoramic tour. Our exploration will take us through its grand avenues, exquisite palaces, and expansive parks, showcasing the vibrant heart of this historic city. In the afternoon, you’re free to discover Vienna at your own pace, perhaps visiting its renowned museums or enjoying a coffee in one of its famous cafés. As the day winds down, we shall provide a transfer to the charming Grinzing district, once a wine-growing village that’s now known for its cosy traditional taverns. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a delightful dinner in this picturesque area.
Day 19 - Vienna
