Itinerary
Day 1 - Colombo
On arrival at Colombo Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative, who will assist you with your transfer to the hotel. Once you have checked in, take time to settle into your room and unwind after your journey. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure, whether you choose to relax at the hotel or explore the city at your own pace. You will stay overnight in Colombo.
Day 2 - Colombo - Dambulla
After breakfast, we travel to Dambulla and check in to your hotel. In the evening, you may choose to visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has been a place of worship since the 1st century BC and features five cave temples with remarkable wall paintings and over 150 statues of Lord Buddha. The site is also known for its impressive golden Buddha statue. Overnight in Dambulla.
Day 3 - Dambulla - Kandy
After breakfast, we travel to Kandy. On the way, you have the option to visit a spice garden in Matale, a region known for its agricultural heritage and production of spices, tea, rubber, and vegetables. Here, you can learn about the cultivation and uses of local spices, and enjoy a cup of herbal tea. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the lively streets of Matale for a taste of everyday town life.Later, you have the opportunity to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most significant cultural landmarks. The temple is renowned for housing a sacred relic of Lord Buddha and reflects the city’s royal history. You can also take time to stroll around Kandy’s lakeside centre, browse the local bazaar, visit an arts and crafts centre, or discover the gem museum and lapidary. The Kandy market offers a colourful array of fresh produce and local goods.In the evening, you may choose to attend a cultural show featuring traditional music and dance, providing insight into the region’s vibrant heritage. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 4 - Kandy - Unawatuna
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to the south-west coast. You may wish to visit Galle, a city where Dutch colonial architecture meets a tropical setting. Within the historic Galle Fort, you can walk along original ramparts and bastions that have stood for over three centuries, passing landmarks such as the Old Gate with its British coat of arms, the Zwart Bastion, and the lighthouse near Point Utrecht Bastion. The fort’s streets, laid out in a rectangular grid, feature Dutch-style verandas and a lively atmosphere, with administrative offices, churches, and local residents going about their day. You can also explore the Dutch Hospital Shopping Complex for souvenirs. After your visit, we continue to Unawatuna for your overnight stay.
Day 5 - Unawatuna - Colombo
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning at your own pace or take the opportunity to explore independently. Later, we travel back to Colombo. If you wish, you can join an optional city and shopping tour. Colombo, the country’s commercial capital, is known for its blend of colonial heritage and modern development. You might choose to drive past the historic Race Course, now home to stylish boutiques and cafés, or visit the lively Pettah district and its Floating Market. The city also features the impressive Colombo Port City development and the popular Arcade shopping complex near Independence Square. For a taste of local culture, you could visit the Gangarama Temple or unwind at the Dutch Hospital precinct, now a hub for dining and shopping. Colombo’s vibrant nightlife and entertainment venues are also within easy reach should you wish to experience the city after dark. Overnight in Colombo.
Day 6 - Colombo
After breakfast at the hotel, we will arrange your transfer to Colombo Airport for your departure flight. Please ensure your travel documents are ready and allow sufficient time for airport formalities. Safe onward journey.
