Day 1 - Stockholm
Welcome to the start of your Scandinavian adventure! Upon your arrival in Stockholm, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel. Once settled in, you'll have the freedom to explore this vibrant city at your leisure. Whether it's taking a casual stroll along the picturesque streets or discovering hidden gems in the local neighbourhoods, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Be sure to check the information boards at the hotel's reception for all the details regarding the start of your tour. Prepare yourself for an exciting journey ahead in this mesmerising part of the world! Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Stockholm - Mora
After breakfast, we will embark on an enlightening city tour of Stockholm, a captivating capital sprawling across 14 interconnected islands where water is omnipresent. Our expedition will guide us to Gamla Stan, the vibrant old town, known as the "City between the Bridges." Here, we will explore its narrow cobbled streets and visit notable landmarks, including the Nobel Museum in Stortorget Square, celebrating Nobel Prize laureates, the striking Cathedral, and the opulent Royal Palace. We will have the opportunity to take in panoramic views of the city from the Fjällgatan viewpoint. Following this guided exploration, you will have free time to further immerse yourself in the city's charm.Later, at around 16:00, we will set off northwest through Sweden's idyllic landscapes, featuring rolling hills, farmland, quaint towns, and serene lakes. Our destination is the city of Mora, nestled between two lakes. Mora is historically significant, as it was here in 1521 that Gustav I of Sweden rallied local support in his fight against Danish invaders. Arrival is expected in the evening.
Day 3 - Mora - Funäsdalen - Roros - Trondheim
We begin the day early, setting off on a scenic journey towards Norway. As we travel through vast forests, past tranquil lakes and towering mountains, you'll find yourself immersed in the serene beauty of the Nordic landscape. Our first destination is Funäsdalen, a charming ski resort nestled in the hills, where you'll have the opportunity to take in the fresh mountain air.Our journey then takes us to the historic town of Røros, renowned for its rich mining heritage and picturesque streets. You'll have time to savour lunch and explore the town's beautifully preserved centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you can discover the quaint miners’ houses and visit a museum dedicated to the town's traditional foundry.Continuing on, we make our way to Trondheim, a city steeped in history and located along Norway's central coast. Once the nation's capital during the Middle Ages, Trondheim is filled with historical treasures such as its impressive 11th-century cathedral and the iconic old bridge spanning the canal. As evening falls, you'll have the chance to explore Trondheim's lively nightlife and sample its diverse range of restaurants.
Day 4 - Trondheim - Kristiansund - Atlantic Road - Molde
Today, we'll immerse ourselves in the vibrant essence of Trondheim before continuing our expedition. Our journey takes us along the breathtaking Norwegian coastline, with its magnificent fjords meeting the Norwegian Sea. A ferry ride will allow us to traverse one of these fjords en route to Kristiansund. This city, renowned for its stunning natural landscape, has a rich tradition as a fishing centre, its unique charm arising from its location across several islands, connected through bridges and embankments. The picturesque city centre, with its cobbled streets, shops, restaurants, and cafés, offers a delightful setting for a leisurely stroll and a spot of lunch.Following Kristiansund, we'll journey through beautiful landscapes to the Kvernes Stave Church, a 14th-century gem. Here, you'll find an incredible 300-year-old ship model and intricately carved altarpieces dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Our path then leads us along the famous Atlantic Road, an engineering marvel celebrated as one of the most scenic oceanic drives globally. As our road curves through the ocean's swell, we'll pause at a viewpoint to absorb the remarkable vista. This unique stretch features eight bridges gracefully connecting a series of islands. We'll conclude our day in Molde by evening—a vibrant town that welcomes numerous cruise ships and lies tucked along its fjord.
Day 5 - Molde - Geiranger - Briksdalsbreen - Loen
Today promises a feast for the eyes as we traverse landscapes filled with World Heritage-listed fjords, majestic glaciers, and charming towns. Our day begins with a ferry ride across the Romsdal Fjord, a delightful 50-minute cruise showcasing the area's stunning vistas. From there, we'll journey into the mountains, ascending snowy peaks before descending towards the captivating Storfjorden, where more impressive scenery awaits. A second ferry of 30 minutes will offer us views of snow-capped summits as we approach the Eagle Viewpoint. This vantage point provides one of Norway's most extraordinary views, overlooking the awe-inspiring Geiranger Fjord. Geiranger itself, known for its World Heritage fjord, is one of the most scenic spots on the planet. You'll have free time to explore—perhaps consider a boat excursion on the fjord, enjoy a walking path by the waterfalls cascading into the village, or simply relax and take in the tranquil atmosphere. Following lunch, we proceed through remarkable mountain and fjord landscapes to Briksdalsbreen, an impressive glacier nestled in a splendour of natural beauty. Here, you will have the opportunity to hike from the base to the glacier, with the option of going on foot or using an electric vehicle. We'll end our day with a delightful dinner and an overnight stay in Loen, a picturesque town by the fjord. While here, you might wish to experience riding one of the steepest cable cars worldwide, which elevates you from the fjord to heights over 1,000 metres.
Day 6 - Loen - Bergen
We begin the day by leaving Loen early, embarking on a journey of just under 300 km towards Bergen. Along the way, you'll be treated to breathtaking landscapes as we follow the fjord shores, cross magnificent mountains, and enjoy a scenic ferry ride. Upon arrival in Bergen around lunchtime, we've arranged for a cable car ride up Fløyen Mountain, offering spectacular views over the city. Afterwards, you'll have some free time to explore Norway’s second-largest city at your own pace. Discover the historical charm of Bryggen, the UNESCO World Heritage Site with its iconic, brightly painted wooden buildings along the dock. If you fancy, you can visit the renowned Bergen Aquarium or immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the bustling fish market, where you'll find an array of small, inviting restaurants.
Day 7 - Bergen - Eidfjord - Voringfossen - Geilo - Oslo
We’ll embark on an early departure from Bergen, venturing into the core of Norway's natural splendour. Our route includes crossing the impressive suspension bridge over Hardangerfjord, widely regarded as one of the country's most stunning fjords. Our first stop will be the quaint town of Eidfjord, nestled on the fjord's edge. From there, we'll visit Vøringfossen, often hailed as Norway's most spectacular waterfall, with a dramatic drop of 182 metres. We'll explore the vantage points and bridges that provide breathtaking views of the falls. Continuing our journey, we’ll pass through striking landscapes marked by barren, chilly high plateaus studded with small lakes—most of which remain frozen for much of the year—and snowy expanses leading us to Geilo. Here, in this well-known ski resort town, we'll pause for lunch. After lunch, we'll resume our journey towards Oslo, reaching the capital city by evening. Once in Oslo, you're encouraged to explore its vibrant city centre, take a delightful stroll along the historic harbour, or ascend to the rooftop terrace of the modern Opera House for a panoramic view of the city.
Day 8 - Oslo - Orebro - Stockholm
In Oslo, we start the day with a panoramic tour led by a local guide, showcasing the city's unique blend of modern and classical architecture amidst beautiful natural surroundings. As the European Green Capital, Oslo impresses with its expansive parks and intriguing sculptures. You'll have some free time to delve into the vibrant cityscape at your leisure. Later, we head towards Sweden, traversing picturesque landscapes of forests and lakes until we reach Örebro. Nestled by a lovely lake, Örebro is a historic town known for its charming old centre and imposing castle. After some time for a leisurely walk, we continue our journey to Stockholm, where we arrive in the evening.
Day 9 - Stockholm
Following breakfast, our tour concludes, allowing you to depart with a host of cherished memories from the adventure.
