Day 1 - Dubai
As you step off the plane, welcome to the Emirates! Upon arrival at the airport, we'll whisk you away to your hotel to settle in. As the day winds down, prepare to experience Dubai's evening allure. We'll set off to discover the city's captivating skyline, sparkling brightly against the night sky. Join us as we marvel at the spectacular "Dubai Fountain" show, where water gracefully dances to music and light, right at the base of the towering Burj Khalifa – the world's tallest building, standing at 828 metres. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Dubai Mall, where you'll have free time to explore and perhaps enjoy dinner at your own expense. As the night draws to a close, we'll return to the hotel for a well-deserved rest. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dubai
On our second day in Dubai, we embark on a thrilling exploration of this vibrant city. Our first stop includes a visit to the Dubai Frame, a monumental structure that offers breathtaking views of both the historic and modern sides of the city. Following this, we delve into the heart of old Dubai, wandering through the lively Bur Dubai Souq and the aromatic Spice Souq. Here, the sights, sounds, and scents provide an authentic taste of the city's bustling market life.As we traverse the Dubai Creek, we'll hop on a traditional Abra boat that will ferry us to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. This charming district is home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, where we embrace the motto "Open Minds, Open Doors." Situated in a traditional building, we will enjoy a genuine Emirati meal, and if our group exceeds 15 travellers, there will be a special presentation about local gastronomy.In the afternoon, our route takes us by the magnificent Jumeirah Mosque, and later past the iconic Burj Al Arab, a sail-shaped luxury hotel that has become one of Dubai's most recognisable landmarks. We then head to Palm Jumeirah, an impressive artificial island resembling a palm tree, where we ride the sleek monorail and take a leisurely stroll through the cosmopolitan Marina area. As the day winds down, you have free time to relax or explore further at JBR Beach, a popular spot loved by both locals and tourists alike for its lively atmosphere and stunning seaside views.
Day 3 - Dubai - Abu Dhabi
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we set off for Abu Dhabi, the capital and largest of the United Arab Emirates. Our first stop before entering the city is the striking Ferrari World, an outdoor park dedicated to the iconic racing brand, where you can marvel at its grand architecture. We proceed to one of the region's most celebrated landmarks, the majestic Sheikh Zayed Mosque, renowned for its expansive structure covering over 12 hectares. This magnificent white mosque serves as a cultural and religious meeting point. Continuing our journey, we pass by the Capital Gate, a uniquely inclined skyscraper standing at 160 metres tall. Enjoy panoramic views of the cityscape from the scenic Corniche, beautifully positioned along the seafront. Our next stop is the Heritage Village, where you'll gain insights into traditional Emirati living, explore charming craft shops, and delve into small museums showcasing the country's rich history. We pause for an included lunch in the city centre.In the afternoon, we visit Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace, an exquisite masterpiece with its white granite façade and richly adorned interiors highlighted by a 37-metre dome and a chandelier composed of 350,000 glass pieces. Later, we head to the cultural district, where you're free to explore iconic museums, including the sea-side architectural marvel, the Louvre, which boasts a world-class collection. You may choose to visit a museum or leisurely explore the surroundings. Nearby, we visit the Abrahamic Family House, an exceptional complex that houses a church, mosque, and synagogue together in one space.As evening falls, we arrive at The Founders Memorial, a tribute to Zayed, the first ruler of the Emirates. Here you can admire The Constellation, a stunning installation renowned for its dazzling night-time illumination.
Day 4 - Abu Dhabi - Jeddah
On Day 4, we begin our day with a transfer to the airport for our flight to Jeddah, with the fare included. Welcome to Saudi Arabia, a fascinating land of contrasts and remarkable experiences. Upon arrival in Jeddah, nestled on the shores of the Red Sea and known as the country's second-largest city with a population of four million, we'll head to our hotel. At 19:00, you'll meet our guide in the hotel reception for an evening stroll through Jeddah's historic centre, Al-Balad. This area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, charms with its medieval alleys and distinctive houses adorned with coral and wooden balconies. As the neighbourhood lights up at night, its allure only deepens, and you'll find plenty of delightful restaurants to explore.
Day 5 - Jeddah
Today we dedicate a full day to the intriguing city of Jeddah, exploring its remarkable contrasts with a knowledgeable local guide. As part of the city's ambitious redevelopment plans, the Jeddah Tower is under construction and promises to become the world's tallest building when completed, reaching over a thousand metres. We then head to the Corniche, where you'll see stunning views, sea-adjacent mosques, and lively public spaces. The King Fahd Fountain, the highest of its kind globally with jets soaring over 300 metres, is a sight to behold. A visit to the bustling fish market will offer a glimpse into local trade and culture. Admission is also included to Al Taybat International City, an impressive architectural complex that houses fascinating history and ethnography museums.We revisit the historic centre, entering through Bab Makkah—the most significant gate in Jeddah—where we'll explore the elegant Beit Salloum, now a museum. You'll have another chance to visit the Eve Cemetery, reputed by tradition as the burial site of Eve, as per biblical accounts. For lunch, enjoy free time at a mall where you can choose from various dining options.In the afternoon, we visit the Al Rahma Mosque, known as the floating mosque, which stands gracefully on the Red Sea's shores supported by water-borne pillars. We end the day by discovering the vibrant marina, a stone's throw from the Formula 1 racetrack, providing a blend of cultural and contemporary experiences in Jeddah.
Day 6 - Jeddah - Medina
After breakfast, we set off from Jeddah for the journey inland, travelling along expansive highways that cut through the striking landscapes of deserts and mountains en route to the revered city of Medina – often referred to as "the luminous city." As we arrive around midday, we pause at a large shopping centre at the city's entrance, where you can explore the diverse dining options at its food court for lunch. Medina holds great historical significance as one of the two holiest cities in Islam, drawing millions of pilgrims each year. Indeed, it was until recently closed to non-Muslims, adding an element of exclusivity. Here, respecting local customs, including appropriate attire, is essential. We will stroll around the magnificent Prophet's Mosque (Al Masjid an Nabawi), renowned for its luminous splendour and ten towering minarets, accommodating up to a million visitors. This remarkable structure was erected by the Prophet Muhammad himself and is his final resting place. Next, we journey to Mount Uhud, a revered pilgrimage site marking the site of a significant battle between the Prophet's forces and troops from Mecca. You are welcome to explore its vast esplanade and ascend the mountain while respectfully sharing the space with numerous pilgrims.Our visit continues to the Quba Mosque, reputedly the first mosque ever constructed by the Prophet and his followers, although the current edifice is a later reconstruction. Nearby, we explore a garden and the historic well of Ethiq, echoing the warm welcome given to the Prophet and his followers by the local tribes upon their arrival from Mecca.You will have some free time to wander through the city centre's shopping districts or, if inclined, visit the Hejaz Railway Museum, situated in the old Ottoman railway station. In the afternoon, we delve deeper into Medina's rich heritage at the Al Madinah Museum, which chronicles the city's fascinating history. As evening approaches, we return to Al Masjid an Nabawi, where you can experience the poignant atmosphere as thousands converge for prayers, amidst breathtaking illuminations. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 7 - Medina - Buraidah
After breakfast, we'll set off towards the eastern part of the country, traversing sparsely populated desert landscapes awash with vibrant hues. Upon arrival in Buraidah, the capital of Al Qassim province with a population exceeding 600,000, we find ourselves amidst a vast oasis. You'll have some free time for lunch, allowing you to explore local culinary delights. Our exploration of Buraidah, renowned for its thriving agricultural sector focusing on oasis produce such as dates, lemons, and wheat, follows. Each August, the city hosts a significant date market attracting visitors eager to purchase this cherished fruit. We will visit this market—referred to as "the city of the date"—to sample the sweet pulp of this palm tree offering. Afterwards, we'll stroll through the city centre, taking in the vegetable market, the impressive mosque, busy jewellery souks, and the city’s lively atmosphere. Dinner is included, allowing you to savour more of the local cuisine.
Day 8 - Buraidah - Riyadh
Today we'll begin our day early with a visit to the largest camel market in the world, located in Buraidah. This city not only houses this bustling marketplace but also features a camel hospital, adding to its significance in the region. After our camel market visit, we'll follow the historic route once traversed by pilgrims travelling from Iraq to Mecca. Our journey will bring us to Ushaiqer, where we'll explore the Heritage Village. This village, an essential stop for historical pilgrims due to its springs and enchanting oasis, offers a glimpse into the past with its small museum and traditional Najdi architecture. Observe the intricate wooden door carvings, charming windows, and distinct triangular roofs. Our visit includes lunch.As we travel through scenic desert dunes, we reach Shaqra, a city expanding alongside its university. The fortified ancient sector of the city awaits us, featuring a quaint old market and winding adobe alleyways. Next, we visit Al Qasab, famed since ancient times for its salt and wheat production, as well as its poets. We'll explore the walled city and small saline lagoons, which continue to yield 200,000 tonnes of salt annually. By evening, we arrive in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's vibrant capital, teeming with nearly eight million residents.
Day 9 - Riyadh
Today we explore the dynamic capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, with our activities arranged to suit the season and time of year. We begin with a visit to the iconic Kingdom Centre. Standing just over 300 metres tall, this architectural marvel offers breathtaking views from its skybridge. Next, we delve into the Kingdom's rich heritage at the National Museum, set amidst a beautifully landscaped park, where we explore exhibits detailing Saudi Arabia's history, culture, and art. Our journey continues at Masmak Fortress, a key historical site that provides insights into Riyadh's dramatic transformation over the past century. After this, we have time to wander through the neighbouring souks, soaking up the local commerce and vibrant atmosphere. You'll have free time to enjoy lunch at a nearby shopping centre, where a variety of dining options await.In the evening, we visit the Al Rajhi Mosque, the largest in Riyadh, known for its stunning Andalusian-style architecture. Here, we witness a prayer and receive a brief introduction to Islam, broadening our understanding of this profound religion. To conclude the day, we head to Riyadh City Boulevard, a hub of energy and entertainment. Explore the many internationally themed restaurants, experience live shows, and take in the spectacle of the lively, multicoloured fountains. You'll have some free time to enjoy dinner and stroll through this vibrant area. We return to the hotel afterwards, full of the day's rich experiences.
Day 10 - Riyadh - Al-Hofuf
Today we venture to the outskirts of Riyadh to explore the Al Turaif district in Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic area was once the first capital of the Saudi dynasty, and you will have the opportunity to admire its remarkable architecture, including numerous palaces and urban complexes nestled on the edge of an oasis. We continue our journey on excellent highways to the Al-Ahsa Oasis, another UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its lush gardens, canals, and wells. This oasis has been inhabited since the Neolithic era and is the largest of its kind globally, boasting nearly 3 million date palms.Upon arrival in Al Hofuf, the main city of this oasis, we will take a stroll through the Al Qaisariya Souq, one of the oldest markets in Arabia, reflecting the rich commercial traditions of the region. In the evening, we will take a leisurely walk through King Abdullah Park, a charming location featuring an artificial lake and fountains that dance to the rhythm of music. Dinner is included to cap off a day filled with cultural and historical wonders.
Day 11 - Al-Hofuf - Dammam
After breakfast, we set out to explore Al-Hofuf, beginning with the Ibrahim Palace, a historic fortress recognised as a World Heritage Site, known for its striking white mosque built by the Ottomans in 1556. Next, we'll visit the "House of Allegiance," showcasing a traditional oasis palace. We'll then proceed to the vibrant area surrounding the Mehaires Palace, buzzing with numerous restaurants, shops, and parks frequented by locals. Continuing through the Al-Hofuf oasis, our journey takes us to the awe-inspiring landscape of AL QARA. This historical site, with its labyrinth of mini-gorges and mountain caves, maintains a pleasant year-round temperature of around 25 degrees. Here, we'll also explore the "Land of Civilizations" museum, which offers a fascinating insight into the region's history.In the afternoon, we journey towards the Persian Gulf, visiting the modern city of Dammam, the provincial capital with nearly a million residents. Before reaching the city, we'll stop at the striking Ithra site and the contemporary King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, a remarkable space shaped like a rock, featuring entertainment areas, museums, and a library. Upon our arrival in Dammam, we'll pause at the Khobar water tower by the sea, then follow the modern promenade to the Heritage Village. This fortress-like structure invites us to discover the facets of Saudi civilisation, including a small museum with a collection of historic automobiles. Dinner is included.Please note: During the development of this itinerary, the Ibrahim Palace was undergoing restoration and may only be viewed from the outside.
Day 12 - Dammam - Bahrain
Following breakfast, we will embark on a journey across the 25-kilometre Friendship Bridge, linking Saudi Arabia to Bahrain. After completing border formalities, we'll arrive in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, a small yet historically significant nation spanning 765 square kilometres and home to nearly two million residents. Our exploration of this intriguing country begins in the historic neighbourhood of Muharraq, featuring charming pedestrian alleyways lined with beautifully restored historic buildings, including royal residences and the opulent homes of pearl merchants. We'll then drive along the corniche to visit Beit Al Quran, a remarkable museum dedicated to the cultural and religious heritage of the Quran. Our itinerary includes a stop at the Bahrain National Museum, providing insights into the country's rich art, traditions, and historical significance. For lunch, we'll take a break at a shopping centre, where you'll have the opportunity to select from a variety of options in the food court.In the afternoon, we'll explore the Al-Fateh Mosque, Bahrain’s largest mosque, with our guide. Our journey continues to Qalat al-Bahrain, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring a spectacular seaside fortress with a history extending 4,000 years, although the present structure was built by the Portuguese. We'll then venture into one of the world's key oil-producing areas, pausing at the site of Bahrain's first oil well, and visit the famed "Tree of Life"—a remarkable 500-year-old desert tree that stands as an emblem of resilience.After returning to Manama, enjoy some leisure time. In the evening, we will stroll through the vibrant Manama souq, immersing ourselves in the lively atmosphere of Little India, which boasts a rich array of Indian traditions, the Krishna temple, and numerous small Indian eateries, reflecting the vibrant Indian diaspora in Bahrain.
