Itinerary
Day 1 - San Jose
Upon arrival at San José Airport, you will be met by our representative who will assist you to your transport. You will then be transferred to your hotel in San José, where you will spend your first night in Costa Rica. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to rest or explore the city independently. Overnight in San José.
Day 2 - Tortuguero
We depart early this morning, travelling by bus through Braulio Carrillo National Park towards the Caribbean plains. Along the way, we take in striking mountain views and pass through charming villages. We stop in Guápiles for a hearty breakfast before continuing by boat through the rivers and canals of Tortuguero National Park. Upon arrival at the lodge, we enjoy lunch before setting out on a guided boat tour of the Tortuguero canals. This essential excursion reveals a rich network of waterways and dense rainforest, home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, including numerous species of amphibians, reptiles and mammals. The afternoon is then free to relax and explore at your leisure. We stay overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 3 - Tortuguero
After breakfast, we take a stroll through Tortuguero village and visit the Turtle Museum to learn about the region’s important conservation efforts. Afterwards, return to the lodge where you can relax or explore the surrounding area at your own pace. Lunch and dinner are included at the lodge. Overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 4 - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
After breakfast at the lodge, check out and begin your journey with a shared transfer combining boat and land travel from Tortuguero to Guápiles. Here, you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Following lunch, meet your local representative who will escort you on a shared transfer to Puerto Viejo, a vibrant Caribbean beach town. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax and explore the hotel’s facilities at your leisure. Overnight in Puerto Viejo.
Day 5 - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at your leisure in Puerto Viejo. You may choose to relax by the beach or explore the vibrant town and its surroundings independently. This is a perfect opportunity to discover the local culture, visit nearby beaches, or simply unwind in this laid-back Caribbean setting. Overnight in Puerto Viejo.
Day 6 - Puerto Viejo - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at your leisure in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. Take the opportunity to explore the vibrant town at your own pace—browse the local shops, sample the diverse flavours of Caribbean cuisine, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere. The day is yours to discover the unique culture and enjoy the beachside setting. Overnight in Puerto Viejo.
Day 7 - Tilaron
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and meet your local representative in the lobby for your transfer to La Fortuna de San Carlos, home to the impressive Arenal Volcano. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax or explore the area’s natural beauty at your own pace. In the afternoon, you may choose to visit Ecotermales Hot Springs, where thermal waters heated by the volcano range from 37°C to 41°C (99°F to 106°F). The pools, combined with a cold-water waterfall, offer a soothing experience amid the rainforest setting. This shared excursion includes pick-up and drop-off, a bilingual guide, admission, and dinner, lasting approximately six hours from around 15:00. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 8 - Tilaron
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at your leisure in the Arenal area. You may choose to relax and take in the surroundings or join one of the optional activities available. The zipline adventure offers an exhilarating experience through the rainforest canopy, featuring 13 cables and 15 platforms that bring you close to the local flora and fauna. Alternatively, visit La Fortuna Waterfall, where a 500-metre trail leads to a stunning 60-metre cascade surrounded by lush vegetation. You can swim in the clear waters or simply appreciate the natural beauty. Both tours include pick-up and drop-off, a guide, entrance fees, and necessary equipment, with various start times to suit your schedule. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 9 - Monte Verde
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Monteverde, a renowned cloud forest and haven for nature enthusiasts. Travel includes a scenic boat crossing of Lake Arenal to Rio Chiquito in the Monteverde region. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 10 - Monte Verde
After breakfast at the hotel, spend the day at leisure to explore Monteverde independently or join one of the optional activities available. The Selvatura Treetop Walkway guided tour offers a three-hour hike along trails and suspension bridges through the cloud forest, where you can spot birds, monkeys, sloths, insects and a variety of plants. Alternatively, the Don Juan Coffee Tour provides insight into Costa Rica’s coffee, chocolate and sugar cane production, with a focus on coffee and its cultural significance. Both tours are shared services and include pick-up, drop-off, a guide and entrance fees. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 11 - Quepos
Today we travel to the stunning beaches of the Central Pacific, renowned for their striking blend of tropical rainforest and white sandy shores. Upon arrival in Manuel Antonio, we check in to the hotel, leaving the rest of the day free for you to relax or explore at your leisure. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
Day 12 - Quepos
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before spending the day at your own pace exploring the natural beauty and highlights of Manuel Antonio. This is your opportunity to discover the area’s stunning beaches, lush rainforest, and abundant wildlife at your convenience. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
Day 13 - Quepos
After breakfast, enjoy a full day at leisure in Manuel Antonio. Take the opportunity to relax on the beach, explore the nearby trails, or discover the local shops and cafés at your own pace. Overnight in Manuel Antonio.
Day 14 - Manuel Antonio - San Jose
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and meet a local representative in the lobby for a shared transfer back to San José. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax or explore the capital city at your leisure. Overnight in San José.
Day 15 - San Jose
After breakfast, we transfer you to Juan Santamaría International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your journey.
