I, like a lot of people, was both excited and apprehensive about going to Egypt, a place I had wanted to visit since childhood. Egypt is a fabulous country and the history and sights are beyond imagination one of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Abu Simbel, I had seen pictures however the reality was something else.

We were very fortunate to be with a brilliant tour guide in Mahmoud, we learnt so much about his country and we were also incredibly lucky to be with an amazing group of people.

The first few days of the tour were fairly jam packed with history, we had opted to do the day trip from Cairo to Alexandria, a beautiful city by the sea and well worth a visit. Words cannot describe how it was to see the pyramids and the Sphinx at first hand.

We upgraded to the Nile Cruise, a highlight for me was sitting on the top deck of the ship after dark as it cruised down the Nile, hearing the calls to prayer and the sounds of Africa as we passed. We saw Kom Ombo and Edfu whilst on the ship until we finally disembarked in Luxor. The final few days of the tour were spent in a beach resort in Hurghada, the hotel was luxurious with a private beach and pool.

I must mention how helpful all the staff were from On the Go or hotel staff wherever we stayed and all we were astonished at how fast we were able to transit passport control and baggage reclaim in Cairo on both arrival and departure.

The tour was amazing and very well organised. The guides were both very friendly and helpful and informative. The pace of the tour is quite busy but we found this enjoyable. The rest time at Hurghada at the end was appreciated. The cruise boat was great and very smooth. Leaving early to visit certain temples and pyramids was the best thing our guide Alam did, as this kept us out of the midday heat and scorching sun.

I would recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in ancient Egypt. Alam being a passionate Egyptologist made the experience more genuine and enlightening. His patience, humour and wit made the tour even more memorable.

Me and my wife went on a trip to Egypt with On the Go tours and it was just fantastic. From the moment we arrived at Cairo airport right to the end, On the Go was organised and everything was smooth sailing.

Our tour guide, Momo, an Egyptologist immersed us with the ancient history of Egypt as well as the modern-day culture of Egyptians. He was brilliant and made the trip so much more unforgettable.

The ancient sights Egypt has to offer can’t be found anywhere else. The immense size of the pyramids, temples and statues is unfathomable. It really is larger than life. Our favourite was by far the Valley of the Kings.

There wasn’t a single moment the whole trip where we didn’t feel safe. Walking back to the hotel at night after dinner or roaming the alleys of Khan el-Khalili just the two of us, we felt perfectly safe.

The Egyptian people are friendly people with a passion for their country and a very welcoming culture. I highly recommend visiting Egypt (and eating kushari and falafels) and more so with On the Go tours. As Momo would say, “Get ready! Get excited!”

Egypt, what a magical place! A country with such a rich history and great culture, I am addicted to Egypt now!

On the go tours are very organized and efficient. We loved seeing all the temples and tombs and learning a great lot of it from our awsome tour guide Momo, what a great teacher he is, we were truly blessed to have him as our tour guide! We believe he made all the difference in making our tour of Egypt spectacular with his enthusiasm and great knowledge!

On our last few days in Cairo we visited Khan el-Khalili market on our own, taking Uber there and a local taxi back, shopping for last minute souvenirs. Egypt is a safe and wonderful country. We felt safe for our entire trip, with the group, and also exploring on our own. We had an amazing time! Egypt is good for my soul and I can't wait to visit Egypt again.

Go to Egypt. These are the words I keep using to friends. It has long been on my bucket list, but I kept putting it off worrying ‘it’s not the right time to go’. I was so wrong. From the first sight of the ‘On the Go’ sign at the airport, we relaxed, Abdul moved us through the airport like we were VIPs, transferred us to Mido, who took us to the hotel, giving tour updates, pointing out the sights and helped us arrange a city tour to see a bit more of Cairo itself.

From the start of our King Ramses adventure, Momo made us feel welcome and encouraged the group of strangers we were at the start, to become ‘family’ and this set the tone. Floating down the Nile on the felucca, swimming, and lazing all the way. Choosing the felucca meant we got to experience the Nile and it’s people up close, what an experience. Whilst doing all of this we also became students led by Momo, who’s enthusiasm for the Egyptian history was infectious. Definitely an unforgettable trip. My only regret that I didn’t add Jordan/Petra to my trip, the rest of the ‘family’ continued the adventure with another On the Go Tour that was also amazing. Definitely will be back and we were very lucky to have Momo on the tour, his positive reviews on the site are well deserved.

Make sure you visit Abu Simbel and the camel ride around the Pyramids are things I’ll never forget. Thanks for making it so great Momo, Mi’do, Amir, Waleed and Abdul, and On The Go Tours.

Thank you On the Go for an unforgettable holiday. I’d been putting off going to Egypt for years due to the perception from media reports that it may not be safe. I felt completely safe wandering around the various cities during our free time.

All the OTG reps were fantastic, from Abdul who worked his magic at the airport, to Mido and Amir who looked after us in Cairo, and Waleed with his tour of the museum. On the King Ramses tour we got to see the major highlights of Egypt’s ancient and historical sites - just stunning! What made the tour exceptional was our tour guide Momo. Like a great teacher he had a fun and memorable way of teaching us about the history and culture of Egypt. Due to a sandstorm our planned first day and night on the felucca was cancelled. The alternative excursions Momo arranged well and truly made up for any initial disappointment the group had about missing a night on the felucca.

My only disappointment, we didn’t book the tour that continued onto Jordon. The updates and photos from the wonderful new friends we met on our tour who continued onto Jordon were amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to friends and family, and definitely intend to return to Egypt again with a Jordon trip to now schedule in for the future.

I would highly recommend travelling with On The Go in Egypt!

The tour itinerary:

We had a pretty full schedule and lots of early mornings and normally I wouldn't be thrilled about that since I'm a night owl but it was perfectly planned as the mornings were a lot cooler and fewer tourists. We were not only awestruck by the pyramids, but all the various temples such as Philae, Abu Simbel, Kom Ombo (and more) which were massive and elaborately covered in hieroglyphs. We also had the opportunity to check out the Valley of the Kings, museums and at the end got some time to relax by the Red Sea which made it feel like a well balanced trip. Overall, I felt like we got a great taste of Egypt in our 2 weeks there.

Tour Guide:

We were lucky enough to have Momo guide us throughout the 2 weeks, whose passion for the country and history was infectious and truly gave us a good understanding of what we were looking at. He was more than happy to share his wealth of knowledge and ensured that we were all well taken care of. He didn't just do the bare minimum, he arranged for us to have "family" dinners and outings and would hang out and smoke shisha with us so that we could have a taste of the local experience. Having a good tour guide can make or break an experience and he was pivotal in making our experience incredible.

On the Go:

I don't have a lot to compare to, as I've only ever done 1 other tour however I was blown away from the moment we stepped foot into the airport. In fact, we've never had such an efficient airport experience as were escorted from start to finish with ease. The tour let us turn off our brains as everything was arranged and organized for us. From hotels to transportation even to tipping and entrance tickets - we just had to go along for the ride! My only complaint was that the itinerary given to us was mixed with some of the other tours, which made it a bit confusing to follow & doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to give us all our schedules based on our specific tour. However, that was so minor and I would happily book another trip with On the Go!

Accommodations & Food:

We stayed in some really nice hotels, including Marriott & Radisson and really got our money's worth. My husband and I also upgraded to the Nile River cruise, which we felt was worth every penny as well! All the included breakfasts and the cruise dinners were great with lots of variety and flavours. The only thing that I didn't particularly love was the overnight train, but it was still an experience! I'm also a fan of hummus, baba ganoush & falafels but not a huge meat eater so I was eventually craving different foods (obviously this is my own preference)

Safety/Culture:

Lastly, I cannot stress enough how safe we felt in Egypt. There was not a single moment that I was ever uncomfortable and actually felt even safer knowing that pickpocketing isn't even a thing there. With there being lots of tourist police and the overall guidance, our biggest threat was overpaying for some souvenirs! All the vendors were extremely friendly, albeit some were overly pushy but that's to be expected pretty much anywhere you go. We always got amazing customer service wherever we went, even when we ventured out on our own without the tour.

All in all, we had an incredible trip & would happily do it all again in a heartbeat. Egypt is a beautiful country with a plethora of history and culture and should be something that everyone experiences at least once in their lifetime!

My husband and I recently did this tour to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. This is somewhere we have always wanted to visit and we are so glad we went ahead and booked it finally. Momo was our tour guide and he was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and passionate about Egypt and educated us in a very entertaining way. He was happy to go the extra mile to make our trip even better. We are so happy we did this tour and thank Momo for a job very well done

An absolutely enjoyable experience. Momo’s knowledge is extensive, his enthusiasm for Egypt and its history is obvious and his tone and manner is spot on. I loved the support he gave (as with the On The Go team). We felt safe at all times and felt the tour was exceptional. Egypt is a great destination.

Tour Add-ons
