The tour was an educational one since it gives the real pros and cons of the communist regime in Bulgaria. The tour guide gave a realistic history of the political background of Bulgaria before during and after the communist era. Being American I had a different opinion and now understand the system with another perspective.

The guide (his name started with a V) was very knowledgeable and informative. Despite the rain, my wife and I enjoyed it very much

I would definitely recommend this tour to understand more about the history of Sofia and how it has shaped their way of life. Our tour guide was fantastic and even had personal stories he shared from his family

Our guide, Vasil Georgiev was incredible. He made the very interesting tour of Bulgaria’s communist history an even better one. We were very lucky to have him as our guide.

I was so so looking forward to this part of our holiday in Sofia and it certainly did not disappoint. Our guide was Nickolai and despite the inclement weather he made the walk both informative and thought provoking with his knowledgable manner together with many personal anecdotes gathered from mainly his own family who lived through a much different era of Sofias history. I learned more about modern history in just over 3 hours than i did in all my history lessons at school put together? Would really recommend.

Martin was a brilliant teacher, full of interesting facts and personal stories that brought the past to life. Despite the torrential rain, we all enjoyed our tour and the time flew past.

One of the best tours I have ever done...and I have travelled to around 100 countries...so I mean exactly what I just said...I was initially a bit skeptical when I saw a young guide coz I prefer to hear from people who have lived during the communist era...but Nikolai simply blew the group away...he was very well researched...knew exactly how to captivate the audience and gave us so many incredible details..and spoke impeccable English...in short it was absolutely brilliant...one tour you should never miss if u are in Sofia...also I will recommend the free walking tour run by the same group...its called 365...they are brilliant!!!

How can you go wrong with a free tour and fully qualified and highly knowledgeable guide? Highly recommended to see another side of Sofia after you've seen all the churches and museums.

Martin the guide provided great insight into Bulgarian life under the communist regime, the history, the communist theory and what it meant to peoples lives. A very full 3 hours but very worthwhile.

I wasn't sure what to expect but the tour was amazing! The tour lasted over 3 hours and there wasn't any time during the tour that we were not engaged. The sights were ok but the narrative and history were incredible. The highlight of the tour was our guide, Stefan. You rock Stefan!!!

Very interesting three hours walking tour. Excellent guide providing many useful infos and very keen on answering any questions. Very recommended, especially to those interested in the history of the Country in the Commuist era.

This was a very interesting tour, highly recommended for anyone who is curious about the history and effects of Communism. Our guide on the day was Dino, who knew his subject well and could easily command our attention for the full 3 hours' duration of the tour. The pace itself was slow, but you do cover quite a large area of the city and therefore need to be fairly mobile...however, there is a break of 15 minutes around the halfway point.

Excellent experience. Strongly recommended!

This was a great value for the amount I paid. Niki was extremely knowledgeable and distilled the key nuggets about Communism to the group in a simple way. Despite the freezing temperatures, I had a great time. My only suggestion is that in winter, they should change the start time to earlier so that the group isn't rushing to get to all the key places before the sun goes down.

This is a truly amazing tour - ours lasted 4 hours and over 40 people turned up!!! Martin guide was brilliant, full of energy and passion. The information he told us was just the right amount and I certainly learnt a lot and began to understand a little more how life in Communist times must have been. The stopping points were varied and Martin related some of his family experiences. THIS IS A MUST FOR ANY VISITOR TO SOFIA!
