Itinerary
Day 1 - Tallinn
Welcome to the tour. We arrange your transfer to the hotel, and you have free time to settle in. In the afternoon you receive details of the programme – either from our team or on the noticeboard at hotel reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Tallinn
Tallinn, Estonia’s capital, has preserved its medieval heart beautifully. We take a panoramic tour – walls, churches, squares and cobbled lanes brimming with character – and you have the afternoon free.
Day 3 - Tallinn - Parnu - Turaida - Sigulda - Salaspils - Riga
We travel through forests and plains to reach Parnu, a popular seaside resort, then continue into Latvia. Lunch is included before our visit to medieval Turaida Castle (admission included), set in a large park dotted with sculptures. We take a walk in Sigulda amid lovely landscapes, and pause at the Salaspils Memorial – one of Europe’s largest monumental complexes commemorating victims of the Nazi period. We arrive in Riga in the evening.
Day 4 - Riga
We enjoy a panoramic tour of Riga, the most populous city in the Baltic states, where traces of the Soviet era remain. Celebrated for its cultural life, medieval old town and outstanding Art Nouveau, it invites unhurried exploration – you have the afternoon free.
Day 5 - Riga - Rundale - Vilnius
We depart early for Lithuania and visit the Baroque Rundale Palace, designed by the architect of Saint Petersburg’s Hermitage. Crossing the border, we view the Hill of Crosses – thousands of crosses of every size – and lunch is included en route. We then continue to Trakai, a beautiful island castle on a lake near Vilnius, where we finish the day. Depending on daylight, the visit to Trakai may take place on Wednesday after the city tour.
Day 6 - Vilnius
We begin with a panoramic tour of Vilnius, a city of seven hills often compared to Rome. We uncover Baroque churches, ancient walls, a grand castle, lively central streets and a remarkable collection of medieval houses. You have the afternoon free to explore.
Day 7 - Vilnius - Grutas Park - Augustów - Warsaw
We continue into Poland. Our first stop is Grutas Park – “Stalin’s World” – with 86 statues from the Soviet era. We then stop for lunch in the lakeside town of Augustów before heading towards central Poland, arriving in Warsaw by day’s end.
Day 8 - Warsaw - Poznan
In the morning we enjoy a panoramic tour of Warsaw with a local guide – a city of nearly two million people, Poland’s political and economic hub, at once classic and modern. We explore the charming Old Town with its historic buildings, Royal Palace and cobbled streets – meticulously rebuilt after wartime destruction and now a World Heritage Site. We also see the iconic Palace of Culture, reflect on the former largest Jewish ghetto in Europe, and stroll through Lazienkowski Park, home to the Chopin Monument. At around 2.30 pm, after time for a walk and lunch, we depart towards Pomerania for our next stop, Poznan – an energetic city with a magnificent main square – where you have time to explore.
Day 9 - Poznan - Berlin
We depart early from Poznan, cross the broad plains into Germany, and arrive in Berlin at around 11.30 am.
Day 10 - Berlin
We immerse ourselves in the city on a guided panoramic tour of Berlin. We see the historic centre, Museum Island, the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, major shopping streets and beautiful parks, and we stop at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum. You can opt to visit Potsdam and its splendid palaces.
Day 11 - Berlin
After breakfast our journey concludes – we bid farewell with wonderful memories.
