This experience was absolutely amazing. Jordan can only be described as an oasis, it is incomparable to any other destination; not only because of the rich history and breathtakingly beautiful sites but particularly because of the Jordanian people. You will never know what kindness truly means until you visit this gem of a country.
We are so thankful that we had to opportunity to travel with On the Go as the experience and customer service that they offer is like no other. They will treat you like royalty; making sure that you have everything that you need throughout your stay and more. You will never travel with another company that exceeds your expectations as much as On the Go did. There is no way that we could have imagined better service in any way. This is genuinely the first time that we have travelled and not had any negative points. We could not even imagine a better experience. There is truly nothing we could improve as everything was beyond perfection.
I don’t think that we have ever met nicer people than the people of Jordan. It’s hard to find genuinely kind individuals in today’s world but I think that’s because they are all living in Jordan. I don’t have the words to describe how kind they really are. Their culture and customs is what defines them, being brought up in a tribal setting they are taught lessons that most people around the world should learn from.
We started our tour in Amman, followed by 2 nights in Petra, 1 night in Wadi Rum before finally settling at the Dead Sea for our last night in Jordan.
There aren’t enough words to describe how amazing our experience was. The scenery, the people, THE FOOD, everything was perfect!
This was a trip of a lifetime that I can confidently say no other trip will come close to comparing. If you get the opportunity to go to Jordan take it. ”
Guide was excellent - he was enthusiastic without being pushy and soon sensed what we were interested in. I think we probably lingered longer than most people but that didn't worry him and he asked all sorts of questions to us as well about some of the Christian history. He had some great recommendations for cheap lunches. Hotels were all okay, driver was superb and didn't take any risks. ”
Just back from Jordan, we would like to thank Mark for his advice and work on the tour, It was great.
The tailor-made formula is so great that we will definitely follow the same idea next year.
from beginning to the end, nothing at all to complain about. The choice of hotels was very good. The guide was excellent, knowledgeable and kind, the van was always clean, the driver very safe and agreeable. Both of them always on time.
The tour was well planned; we added Christ Baptism site because it really appealed to us.
Thank you again for Mark's commitment in organising our trip. He did really well ”
Red Sea Relaxation
Rugged mountains tumbling down into warm turquoise waters, sandy beaches lining a palm-fringed coast and offshore colourful coral reefs just waiting to be explored. Like what you are picturing? As the only coastal city in Jordan, Aqaba is its gateway to the Red Sea and brimming with opportunity for the discerning traveller. After taking in the sights and delights of Jordan consider unwinding with some rest and relaxation by the sea on your tailor made holiday.
Inspirations for a holiday in Jordan
If you’ve got some extra time on your hands or this is your second trip to Jordan, why not venture off the beaten track or try something different with this list of unique experiences.
A large part of getting to know a destination is by sampling the local cuisine and if you’ve been to the Middle East before you’ll be well aware that the flavours and aromas of the region are simply divine. Learn how to prepare traditional Jordanian meals at Petra Kitchen, a small locally-run business, where wannabe chefs can whip up dishes with the guidance of an experienced chef. Enjoy the fruit of your labour and take home recipes to recreate at home.
Shaumari Wildlife Reserve
When you think about booking a 4x4 wildlife safari, chances are you aren’t picturing yourself in the Middle East – well think again! The Shaumari Wildlife Reserve near the town of Azraq is a wonderful place to get back to nature in Jordan where you can spot some of the endangered species in the region such as the Arbian Oryx, ostrich and gazelles.
Ma'n Six Senses Spa
Nestled at the foot of a rocky canyon near the eastern shore of the Dead Sea, the Evason Ma’in Hot Springs & Six Senses Spa is the ultimate combination of rugged beauty and indulgent luxury. With a sandstone exterior accented by arches and domes this secluded oasis fits perfectly into its surroundings. The in-house spa puts to use the geothermic activity of the area with a range of therapeutic treatments and dipping pool fed by a hot-spring waterfall.
One thing you certainly won’t come up short on in Jordan is fascinating architectural feats, for the country is loaded to the hilt with ancient Islamic castles, fortresses and abandoned palaces. While there are plenty of castles scattered across the nation, Qasr Kharanah, Qasr Amra, and Qasr Azraq – one of the headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia are well worth a visit.
Mujib Biosphere Reserve
With over 200 sq km of rugged mountainous landscape, deep canyons, towering cliffs, gorges and snaking rivers the Mujib Biosphere Reserve is not only stunning but also the lowest nature reserve on earth. Despite its barren landscape there is a surprising variety of flora and fauna hidden within the cracks of Mujib, most of which is near impossible to reach leaving much of the reserve untouched. Follow nature trails on good, abseil down a waterfall and go for a dip in the cool crystal waters of a waterfall – the possibilities are endless.
Dana Nature Reserve
Another one of Jordan’s hidden gems, the Dana Nature Reserve is the largest in the country and boasts an incredibly varied terrain that plays home to a diversity of plant and animal life. The sandstone cliffs and red rock escarpments are perfect for hiking and exploring many of the archaeological sites found in the reserve. Alternatively, you can take a hike off the path less travelled and enter Petra via one of many trails that take in the surrounding landscape and more.
