Itinerary
Day 1 - Baltra - Puerto Ayora
On arrival at Baltra Airport, we meet our guide and take a bus to the short ferry across to Santa Cruz – a large island with varied climates and striking contrasts. En route, we stop in the lush highlands at a ranch where giant tortoises roam freely, and walk through an impressive lava tunnel, with lunch served at the ranch. In the afternoon, we take part in a hands–on conservation activity at Pájaro Brujo Reserve, planting a native Scalesia tree and learning about local biodiversity efforts. We then continue by private land transport to Puerto Ayora for the night.
Day 2 - Santa Cruz Island - Isabela Island
After breakfast at the hotel, we’re collected and transferred to the pier to board the speedboat to Isabela – the crossing takes around two hours. On arrival, we meet our local guide and take a small boat to Tintoreras Islet for a guided walk, watching marine iguanas and looking for white–tip reef sharks resting in a natural lava channel – penguins are often seen here too. We then enjoy a snorkelling session with the chance to encounter sea turtles, colourful fish and other marine life. Back at the port, lunch is served, followed by a short visit to Flamingo Lagoon and part of the wetlands. Overnight on Isabela Island.
Day 3 - Isabela Island
After breakfast, we meet our private guide and drive into the highlands to El Cura – the starting point of our hike. We walk around 8 kilometres each way, beginning at the Sierra Negra viewpoint for wide views over this active volcano and its vast crater. We then continue across the lava fields towards Volcán Chico, taking in broad ocean views along the route and keeping a pace that suits the group. After the hike, lunch is served at a nearby farm. We return to the port for a final stop at Concha de Perla – a small, sheltered lagoon – where we snorkel with the chance to see sea lions, turtles and a variety of fish. In the late afternoon, we’re driven back to the hotel. Overnight on Isabela Island.
Day 4 - Puerto Ayora
We’re collected early from the hotel and transferred to the pier, where we’re assisted with boarding the boat to Santa Cruz. A boxed breakfast is provided for the crossing. On arrival, the rest of the day is at leisure – you can relax in Puerto Ayora or choose an optional excursion. Overnight in Puerto Ayora. You can opt for a Tortuga Bay private tour with lunch – starts 08:00, duration 5 hours. Return along the same trail, with lunch served after the visit.Alternatively, choose a Charles Darwin Research Station and Tortuga Bay tour with lunch – starts 08:00, duration 8 hours. Your certified naturalist guide collects you for a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station, where scientists study and help preserve the unique ecosystems of the Galápagos.
