Tanzania Northern Circuit Wildlife Safari
New
Set off from Arusha and wind back to Arusha over eight days on a classic northern Tanzania safari, all game viewing and great scenery. You’ll explore Tarangire’s baobab plains with elephants and possible tree climbing lions, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for close encounters with hippos, flamingos and big cats, and pause at Olduvai Gorge to step into human prehistory. Then it is on to the Serengeti for two full days chasing the herds and sunsets on the endless plains. Return via the Ngorongoro Highlands for a farm lunch and waterfall walk, before a final Lake Manyara drive alive with birds.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arusha
Arrive in Arusha. After you clear customs and immigration at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. Overnight at Mount Meru Hotel or similar.
Day 2 - Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Arusha - Tarangire National Park. After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for lunch at the chosen lodge or tented camp.
In the afternoon, you head out on a game drive to explore the park’s baobab‑dotted landscapes and diverse wildlife, with chances to see lesser kudu, eland, lions and gerenuk. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or tented camp. Meals included today are buffet breakfast, buffet lunch and buffet dinner. Accommodation – Sangaiwe Tented Lodge or similar.
Day 3 - Tarangire to the Ngorongoro Crater
Tarangire National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After breakfast in Tarangire, you head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving for lunch at the chosen lodge or tented camp.
In the afternoon, descend about 2,000 feet – over 600 metres – to the crater floor for a game drive, exploring forested areas home to monkeys and elephants, the lake shore where you may see flamingos, and open savanna where lions hunt. Return to the lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight. Meals included: buffet breakfast, buffet lunch and buffet dinner. Accommodation: Rhino Lodge or similar.
Day 4 - Olduvai Gorge & Serengeti National Park
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Serengeti National Park. After breakfast at the camp, you journey from Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge – a landmark of palaeoanthropology where Louis and Mary Leakey uncovered some of the earliest known human ancestors. We arrive at our lodge or tented camp in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, head out on a game drive across the Serengeti’s open plains in search of large herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, and the lions that shadow them. Return for dinner and overnight at Heritage Tented Camp or similar. Meals included: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 5 - Full-Day Serengeti Safari
Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti on game drives. After a buffet breakfast at camp, you head out for a morning drive, return to camp for a buffet lunch and some time to relax – you may choose to unwind before setting off again for an afternoon drive. Buffet dinner and overnight at Heritage Tented Camp or similar.
Day 6 - Full-Day Serengeti Safari
Enjoy a second full day of game drives in the Serengeti. After a buffet breakfast at the camp, you head out across the plains for wildlife viewing, returning to camp for a buffet lunch before continuing your afternoon exploration. Round off the day with a buffet dinner and overnight at the lodge or tented camp – Heritage Tented Camp or similar.
Day 7 - Serengeti to Lake Manyara National Park
Serengeti National Park - Lake Manyara National Park. Head out early for a game drive, then return to camp for a late breakfast. You can enjoy a further mid morning game drive before departing the Serengeti and travelling through the Ngorongoro Highlands. Stop for lunch at Gibbs Farm or similar, then visit the nearby waterfalls before continuing to Lake Manyara for dinner and an overnight stay at Bougainvillea Lodge or similar. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 8 - Return to Arusha
Lake Manyara National Park - Arusha. After breakfast at the lodge, you head out on a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, looking for hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions, flamingos and the park’s varied birdlife. Lunch is provided – either at the lodge or as a packed lunch – then you head back to Arusha for your onward arrangements, whether a holiday extension or your flight home.
