Itinerary
Day 1 - Tunis
Upon arrival at Tunis–Carthage Airport, our airport team and driver will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Tunis, the vibrant capital and largest metropolitan area of the country. You will have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax or explore the city’s surroundings at your own pace. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner before settling in for your overnight stay in Tunis.
Day 2 - Tunis - Sidi Bou Said - Carthage - Hammamet
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer to the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, perched over 100 metres above sea level. This charming village is famed for its whitewashed walls and striking indigo blue doors and windows, offering stunning views across the Mediterranean Sea. Next, we visit the nearby archaeological site of Carthage, set along a beautiful coastline. Although the ancient city was destroyed by the Romans, the UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals excavations of homes, baths and an ancient sewage system. We also explore the Carthage amphitheatre, originally built in the first century AD and later rebuilt by the Romans; it now hosts the annual International Music Festival of Carthage, welcoming around 30,000 visitors. After a delicious lunch, we head to downtown Tunis to visit the Bardo National Museum, housed in a former Beylical palace and renowned for its extensive collection of mosaics. We then spend some free time exploring the ancient Medina of Tunis before travelling to the Hammamet area to check in to our hotel. Lunch and dinner are included.
Day 3 - Hammamet - Dougga - Kairaoun - Kairouan
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to Dougga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned as the best-preserved small Roman town in North Africa. The site reflects a rich blend of Roman, Punic and Byzantine heritage, with highlights including the impressive Roman Capitol and Theatre. Following a local lunch, we continue to Kairouan, known as Tunisia’s ‘capital of Islam’. Upon arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Lunch and dinner are included.
Day 4 - Tozeur
After breakfast, we take a guided walking tour through the old Medina of Kairouan. You will visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan, a landmark built in 670 AD by the Arab general Uqba Ibn Nafi, renowned for its architectural and spiritual significance. Next, we explore the remarkable Aghlabid basins—ancient water reservoirs that have survived centuries and played a crucial role in conserving and distributing scarce drinking water. Following lunch, we travel south via Gafsa to reach Tozeur, known as the city of palm trees. Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight in Tozeur.
Day 5 - Tozeur
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at your leisure in Tozeur. You may choose to relax and explore the town independently or join an optional excursion to discover more of the surrounding area. Lunch and dinner are included, and you will spend the night in Tozeur.
Day 6 - Tozeur - Douz
After breakfast, we explore the centre of Tozeur, noting the intricate architectural details on the façades of the traditional houses. Then we drive across Chott el Djerid, Tunisia’s largest salt lake, where you can admire the vast expanse of white and pink mirages—this striking landscape was also a filming location for Star Wars. Upon arrival in Douz, known as the ‘gateway to the Sahara’, we enjoy a delicious lunch before you have the afternoon at leisure to relax or explore independently. Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight in Douz.
Day 7 - Douz - Matmata - Sousse
After breakfast, we travel to the old village of Matmata, known for its well-preserved troglodyte houses carved into the earth by Tunisian Berbers. This unique site, still inhabited today, also served as a filming location for Star Wars and is open for visitors. Next, we visit the village of El Djem to explore its remarkable Roman amphitheatre—the third largest in the world—built around 1,800 years ago and exceptionally well preserved. Originally used for gladiatorial contests, the amphitheatre remains an impressive testament to Roman engineering. After a local lunch in El Djem, we continue to the Mediterranean town of Sousse for your final night. Here, we visit the stylish leisure harbour of Port El Kantaoui, where you can relax with Tunisian coffee or fresh juice and browse for souvenirs. Lunch and dinner are included.
