Day 1 - Arrive Los Angeles
Arrive at Los Angeles International Airport and make your own way to the hotel, where you will meet your Tour Director.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Los Angeles to Phoenix/Scottsdale via Palm Springs
Los Angeles - The O.C - Palm Springs - Phoenix. Our journey begins today as we travel through Palm Springs, the winter playground of Hollywood royalty. Set against the rugged San Jacinto Mountains, this desert resort is known for its lively downtown, elegant atmosphere and beautifully maintained golf courses.
A vast field of wind turbines marks our approach to the city. We then continue through Indio, in California’s Coachella Valley, home of the International Date Festival.
Motorcoach tour commences today. Joining passengers should meet in the lobby of the designated hotel at 07:30 for an 08:00 departure.
Day 3 - Phoenix/Scottsdale to Grand Canyon via Sedona
Phoenix - Sedona - Grand Canyon. Travel through the Sonoran Desert, the most biologically diverse desert ecosystem in the Americas. We continue to Sedona, set among striking red-rock formations with memorable names such as Cathedral and Coffee Pot.
From here, drive through dramatic Oak Creek Canyon before arriving at Grand Canyon National Park. One of the world’s great natural wonders, the Grand Canyon reveals mile-deep gorges and soaring rock spires carved over time by the Colorado River. We stop at the rim to take in this extraordinary landscape.
Day 4 - Grand Canyon to Page/Lake Powell via Monument Valley
Grand Canyon - Monument Valley - Lake Powell. Today we enter the Navajo Nation, passing the trading post at Cameron. Continue through the Painted Desert and into Monument Valley, a region whose vast sandstone buttes have become some of the most recognisable images of the American West.
In the late afternoon, arrive in Page, set on a mesa above the Colorado River, and enjoy the evening at leisure.
Day 5 - Page/Lake Powell to Bryce Canyon via Kanab
Lake Powell - Kanab - Bryce Canyon. Visit Glen Canyon Dam, the second-highest concrete arch dam in America, and enjoy views over Lake Powell, where clear blue water meets towering red-rock canyon walls.
We then enter Utah and travel through Kanab before visiting Bryce Canyon, known for its remarkable rock formations and natural amphitheatres. This evening, weather permitting, you may wish to look up at the clear night sky, filled with stars and constellations.
Day 6 - Bryce Canyon to Las Vegas via Zion National Park
Bryce Canyon - Zion - Las Vegas. Travel to Zion National Park, where massive rock formations have been shaped by wind, time and the Virgin River.
Later, continue to Las Vegas, the dazzling Entertainment Capital of the World, where shopping, shows and casinos create a lively contrast to the national parks we have explored.
Day 7 - Las Vegas at Leisure
Today is free for you to enjoy Las Vegas at your own pace. You might explore its world-class shopping, bustling casinos and spectacular shows, take a stroll along the famous Strip, or browse the designer outlets.
Day 8 - Las Vegas to Mammoth Lakes via Death Valley
Las vegas - Death Valley - Mammoth Lakes. We begin with a stop at the iconic Las Vegas Welcome Sign, a perfect photo opportunity. Leaving the bright lights behind, we enter the stark and dramatic landscape of Death Valley.
Stops include Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Ranch/Visitor Center before we cross the valley and climb into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, arriving in the alpine resort town of Mammoth Lakes. Once a gold-mining settlement in the 19th century, the area is now known for its outstanding ski terrain and beautiful mountain scenery.
Day 9 - Mammoth Lakes/Fresno to Modesto via Yosemite National Park
Mammoth Lakes - Yosemite National Park - Modesto. Today we travel via Tioga Pass into the spectacular scenery of Yosemite National Park. Here we experience the valley floor and some of the park’s most famous landmarks, including El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall and Yosemite Falls. Overnight is in nearby Modesto.
Day 10 - Modesto to San Francisco
Modesto - San Francisco. Depart early this morning for San Francisco, one of America’s most loved cities. On arrival, enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour before continuing to the hotel.
Day 11 - Depart San Francisco
Make your own way to the airport for your return flight.
