Itinerary
Day 1 - Exploring Kolkata
On arrival at Kolkata Airport, our representative will meet and assist before we transfer to your hotel for check-in – standard time 2 pm, with early check-in subject to availability.
Once settled, we begin exploring at the Victoria Memorial, a landmark of the city’s colonial history set within peaceful gardens, then continue to St Paul’s Cathedral for a moment of quiet amid its impressive architecture. We visit Mother Teresa’s House to learn about her humanitarian legacy, before taking in the city’s energy and views of the Hooghly River from the iconic Howrah Bridge. In the evening, we sample Kolkata’s vibrant street food – including classics such as rasgulla and sandesh. Overnight in Kolkata.
Day 2 - Drive to the Sundarbans
After breakfast, we drive around 130 km – approximately three hours – from Kolkata to Sundarban National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its mangrove forests and wildlife. At Godkhali Jetty we board a boat to the resort, then check in and settle in. In the afternoon, we take a sunset cruise through Sundarban’s network of waterways before returning to the resort for dinner. Overnight at the resort.
Day 3 - Sundarbans Safari
We rise early to the sounds of the forest and have breakfast at the resort before setting out on a full day boat safari with our expert guides. We navigate the mangrove channels and creeks, watching for movement along the banks and mudflats, and keep an eye out for the Bengal tiger – an elusive resident of these forests. Birdlife is rich here and we often spot kingfishers, herons and eagles along the waterways. We pause for a packed lunch en route, then continue deeper into the park to visit the Dobanki Watchtower for elevated views that help spot deer, crocodiles and other wildlife. We also visit the Sajnekhali Watchtower for panoramic views across the mangroves and further wildlife sightings. As the day draws to a close, we return to the resort to unwind. Overnight at resort.
Day 4 - Boat Safari & Return to Kolkata
After breakfast, we set out on a final three-hour boat safari through the waterways of Sundarban National Park. We then return by boat to Godkhali Jetty and continue by road to Kolkata. On arrival in the city, we transfer you to the airport for your onward journey or drop you at your hotel, according to your schedule.
