Itinerary
Day 1 - Kathmandu
On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative greets you and assists with your transfer – we drive from the airport to your hotel in Thamel. After check in, you can settle in and take your first look at Kathmandu’s bustling streets. Later, we share an overview of the journey ahead, outlining the route and key highlights.
Day 2 - Kathmandu - Syabrubesi
We leave the Kathmandu Valley by road and drive north through hills and farmland to Syabrubesi – a town at the junction of two rafting rivers and the starting point for our Langtang trek.
Day 3 - Syabrubesi - Gatlang
We begin the trek with a steady climb to a viewpoint over the Gosainkund Range, the Goljang Valley and Ganesh Himal. After descending into the valley for lunch, we continue along village paths to reach the traditional Tamang settlement of Gatlang.
Day 4 - Gatlang - Tatopani
We descend to Thangbuchet, cross a hanging bridge and climb steadily to Tatopani. We end the day in this village famed for its natural hot springs – an inviting place where you can soak tired muscles.
Day 5 - Tatopani - Nagthali Hill - Thuman
We ascend through forest and open hillside to the grasslands of Nagthali Hill, where sweeping mountain views unfold. After a pause to rest and enjoy the scene, we descend to the Tamang village of Thuman, influenced by Tibetan culture.
Day 6 - Thuman - Briddim
We follow a gentle contouring path before descending towards Timure along the old trade route to Tibet – after lunch, we continue to the homestay village of Briddim to experience warm Tamang hospitality.
Day 7 - Briddim - Sherpagaon
We conclude our time in the quieter Tamang hills as the trail leads towards Khangjim and on to Sherpagaon – passing scenes of village life along the way – before we join the busier Langtang trekking route at Sherpagaon.
Day 8 - Sherpagaon - Ghora Tabela
We continue up the valley through lush forest, following the river as we gain height at a steady pace. Near Ghora Tabela the trees thin and the first views of Langtang Lirung open up ahead.
Day 9 - Ghora Tabela - Kyangin Gompa
We climb past the haunting ruins of Langtang village, following a celebrated mani wall carved with prayer stones. Glaciers and high peaks draw in as we cross the moraine and descend into Kyangin Gompa – renowned for its monastery and yak cheese.
Day 10 - Lalitpur
We spend a full day at Kyangin Gompa – time to rest or to explore the surrounding valley on shorter walks. You can visit the monastery and the local cheese factory, or simply savour the mountain views and the village bakeries.
Day 11 - Lalitpur
We have another full day based at Kyangin Gompa – rest as you wish, or set out on gentle valley rambles. You can revisit the monastery, sample more local cheese, or relax in the village bakeries while taking in the views.
Day 12 - Kyangin Gompa - Lama Hotel
We retrace our route down the Langtang Valley, following the river and passing familiar villages from a fresh perspective. Forested slopes and far reaching mountain views accompany us back to Lama Hotel.
Day 13 - Lama Hotel - Thulo Syabru
We descend the valley before branching onto a new trail that follows the Langtang Khola past fields and farms – a final climb up the valley side brings us to the village of Thulo Syabru.
Day 14 - Dhunche - Kathmandu
On our final day on the trail, we descend mostly downhill through villages and forest towards Dhunche, taking in last views of the surrounding hills before leaving the path behind. From Dhunche we meet our vehicle and drive back to Kathmandu – a journey of around six to seven hours – returning to your city hotel, where you can unwind and reflect on the trek.
Day 15 - Kathmandu
Today you can rest or wander the lively lanes of Thamel. This evening we meet for an informal briefing on the tour and the local area. When it is time to depart, we transfer you from your Kathmandu hotel to the airport – say a fond farewell to Nepal as you head for your flight.
