Itinerary
Day 1 - San Jose - Naranjo
Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría Airport, a representative will meet you and transfer you to your lodge in Naranjo. Pick-up can also be arranged from hotels in San José if preferred. Once at the lodge, settle into your room, which reflects the rich coffee heritage of the region. You will have some free time to relax and take in the peaceful surroundings. Overnight accommodation is in Naranjo.
Day 2 - Naranjo
After breakfast at the lodge, we set off at around 9:00 a.m. to explore Naranjo, a town renowned for its exceptional coffee plantations. With over two centuries of coffee cultivation, Naranjo has earned international recognition for producing some of the world’s finest coffee. Our first stop is the Espiritu Santo Coffee Tour, where over an hour and a half, we will uncover the journey of coffee from seed to cup. This tour takes place on a farm owned by a local coffee growers’ cooperative, set against a backdrop of rolling hills. Following the tour, we visit the Municipal Market, where fresh local produce such as fruits, vegetables and meats are sold daily. Our guide will introduce you to various fruits and their traditional uses in local cuisine. Lunch is included at one of the market’s eateries. Afterward, we visit the Basilica Nuestra Señora de las Piedades, a church rebuilt in the 1940s following several earthquakes. On the return journey to the lodge, we stop at a local bakery to pick up some bread before enjoying a fresh cup of coffee at Don Carlos’s farm, hosted in his private home. This full-day experience lasts approximately six hours. We spend the night again in Naranjo.
Day 3 - Naranjo
Enjoy a final breakfast at the lodge before your departure. At the arranged time, we will transfer you to your next destination – either Juan Santamaría Airport or your hotel in San José.
