Day 1 - Liberia - Tamarindo
Your Costa Rican adventure begins on arrival at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia, located in the country’s northwestern region. Upon landing, a representative will meet you before transferring you to Tamarindo Beach for your first night. Tamarindo offers a lively atmosphere and is an ideal place to start your holiday. Overnight in Tamarindo.
Day 2 - Tamarindo - Samara
After a satisfying breakfast, we check out of the hotel and take a shared transfer to Samara. This charming beach town is known for its relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere and stunning half-moon bay. The long stretch of white sandy beach, lined with graceful palm trees, offers the perfect setting to unwind. You have the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the sun and sea at your own pace. Day 3 - Samara
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel before setting out on an ocean safari. This adventure includes a boat tour and snorkelling, offering the chance to explore the striking coastal scenery and spot local marine life such as dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. After the excursion, return to your hotel in Samara, where the rest of the day is yours to relax and make the most of the beautiful surroundings and hotel amenities. Overnight in Samara.
Day 4 - Nandayure
After breakfast, we take a shared transfer from Samara to Santa Teresa, located on the Nicoya Peninsula—one of the world’s Blue Zones, known for the longevity and well-being of its residents. Santa Teresa has rapidly become a popular spot for beach lovers and surfers drawn to its pristine sandy shores and consistent waves. Many visitors arrive for a surf holiday and end up making this vibrant community their home. The town’s international flavour is evident in its eclectic mix of local shops and restaurants, blending Costa Rican culture with global influences. You will have the evening at leisure to settle in and explore this dynamic beach town. Overnight in Santa Teresa.
Day 5 - Nandayure
After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a full day at your leisure to relax at the hotel or on the vibrant beach. You may choose to take part in one of the many adventurous activities available locally or explore the stunning surroundings independently. Overnight in Santa Teresa.
Day 6 - San Jose
After breakfast, we will collect you for a shared transfer to San José, arriving in the capital by early afternoon. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to explore the city at your own pace. Wander through San José’s orderly streets, visit landmarks that catch your eye, and discover the vibrant cafés and restaurants that give the city its lively character. Overnight in San José.
Day 7 - Tortuguero
You will depart early this morning, travelling by bus through Braulio Carrillo National Park towards the Caribbean plains, taking in the striking mountain scenery and charming villages along the way. En route, we will stop for a tasty breakfast before continuing by boat through the rivers and canals of Tortuguero National Park. Upon arrival at your eco-lodge, enjoy a freshly prepared lunch. Later, we board the boat again to visit Tortuguero village, where you can stroll through the town, observe local life, and walk along the beach. If travelling between September and December, you may witness baby turtles making their way to the sea during the hatching season. The remainder of the day is yours to relax at the lodge, surrounded by tropical forest and abundant wildlife. Overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 8 - Tortuguero
Today offers a relaxed start with free time to unwind by the pool before embarking on a three-hour guided tour of Tortuguero National Park. We will explore the park’s rich biodiversity, spotting over 350 protected species including birds, monkeys, crocodiles and sloths amid lush tropical vegetation. During the July to September season, you may choose to join an optional late-night turtle nesting tour, available to purchase directly at the lodge. Overnight accommodation remains at the eco-lodge in Tortuguero.
Day 9 - Sarapiqui
After breakfast, we transfer to Guapiles for a pleasant lunch stop. Following this, a shared transfer takes you to Sarapiqui, located just north of San Jose. Nestled in the foothills of Braulio Carrillo National Park and set beside mountain streams, lush rainforest, and pasturelands, Sarapiqui offers a refreshing change of scenery. You will settle into a comfortable lodge with thoughtfully designed rooms, your base for the next two nights, surrounded by the vibrant rainforest environment.
Day 10 - Sarapiqui
After a hearty breakfast, we set off on a floating safari along the Sarapiqui River, where you can admire the rich diversity of flora and fauna nestled within the rainforest. Returning to the hotel, you have the afternoon at leisure to explore the scenic surroundings or choose from several optional activities. You may opt for white-water rafting on the Sarapiqui River, which features class II–III rapids winding through lush tropical forest—rapids with names like ‘Roller Coaster’, ‘Superman’, and ‘Air Force’ promise an exhilarating experience. Alternatively, join a chocolate tour that reveals the traditional cultivation and history of cacao in the Tirimbina forest, including a walk across a suspension bridge to a former cacao plantation used for environmental education. If you prefer a bird’s-eye view of the rainforest, the canopy tour offers an exciting zip-line adventure through the treetops, providing a unique perspective on this biodiverse region. Day 11 - San Carlos
After breakfast, we travel from Sarapiqui to Arenal, a renowned destination for adventure seekers and home to one of Costa Rica’s most active volcanoes. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore the scenic surroundings of your hotel or take part in an optional activity of your choice. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 12 - San Carlos
After breakfast, join a guided walking tour of Arenal Volcano National Park. Your guide will explain the volcano’s active periods as you explore the lush surroundings and keep an eye out for wildlife such as sloths, howler monkeys, and anteaters. Return to the hotel for a leisurely afternoon to relax, explore independently, or take part in an optional activity. You may choose from a canopy tour with Arenal Ecoglide, a kayaking excursion, or a soothing visit to the Tabacon Hot Springs, depending on your preference. Optional activities are not included. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 13 - Arenal - Monteverde
After breakfast, we depart for Monteverde, travelling along the shores of Lake Arenal. Upon arrival in Rio Chiquito, you will transfer to your hotel. Nestled in Puntarenas province, Monteverde is renowned for its cloud forests, coffee plantations, and abundant wildlife, including monkeys. The nearby town of Santa Elena offers a charming atmosphere with artisan shops and inviting restaurants. You will have the day at leisure to explore independently or take part in optional activities. These include the Selvatura Treetop Walkway guided tour, which leads you across eight suspension bridges spanning three kilometres, offering a unique perspective above the rainforest canopy. Alternatively, you may choose the Don Juan Coffee Tour to learn about Costa Rica’s coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane production, with a focus on coffee and local folklore. Optional activities are not included. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 14 - Monteverde
After a nourishing breakfast, we take a guided hike through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Established in 1972, this renowned reserve protects an exceptional range of biodiversity, hosting around 2.5% of the world’s species. You will encounter a variety of mammals, birds, butterflies, amphibians, reptiles, insects and plants, including native trees, mosses and vines unique to the cloud forest ecosystem. The afternoon is yours to relax or join an optional activity. If you wish, you can revisit the Selvatura Treetop Walkway for a canopy perspective of the forest or explore Costa Rican culture on the Don Juan Coffee Tour. Please note that entrance fees to the reserve and optional tours are not included. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 15 - Monteverde - Liberia
After breakfast, we transfer you privately from Monteverde to Liberia International Airport for your onward flight home or to continue your journey with a beach extension. Breakfast is included.
