Day 1

Delhi

Saturday. Upon arrival into Delhi, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore this bustling capital city.
Overnight: Delhi

Day 2

Old & New Delhi

This morning, our Welcome Meeting takes place. We then enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi, taking in Humayun's Tomb, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque and Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation in Old Delhi, and in New Delhi Rajpath and India Gate. Tonight, we enjoy a group Namaste dinner at our hotel.
Overnight: Delhi  |  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3

Taj Mahal

Delhi - Agra. Departing Delhi, we make our way to Agra, the erstwhile capital of the Mughal empire. Our first stop here is the impressive Agra Fort, which boasts some of India's finest Mughal buildings behind its fortified walls. Later we travel on to the legendary Taj Mahal. Built by the order of Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century in affectionate memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz, the Taj Mahal is perhaps one of the most extravagant monuments to love ever built and has no peers.
Overnight: Agra  |  Breakfast

Day 4

The princely state of Karauli

Agra - Karauli. Bright and early this morning we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, which has been deserted for over four centuries after it was allegedly abandoned due to a lack of water. Thanks to the very durable red sandstone from which it was built, Fatehpur Sikri still remains well-preserved and is a fascinating place to explore.

We drive on to Bharatpur where we'll enjoy lunch before continuing our journey to Karauli, which was a princely state of India from 1348 until 1949. We spend the night at the beautiful Palace Bhanwar Vilas, which is the home of the current Maharaja and Maharani of Karauli. During our stay we can explore the palace and grounds at leisure. The sovereigns, continue to reside at the palace and the young princess often gives guided tours of the palace, which we will take part in, if the opportunity arises. The family is also lovingly restoring the Karauli City Palace, which we visit later this afternoon. Tonight, opt to attend the evening Aaarti (prayer) taking place nearby.
Overnight: Karauli  |  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5

Jaipur

Karauli - Jaipur. This morning we stop briefly to meet the children and teachers at a local school (if open) where we operate our ‘Change for Children’ programme. If you have bought any educational items with you to hand out to children this would be the time to do so. Then we drive on to Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your own leisure.
Overnight: Jaipur  |  Breakfast

Day 6

Jaipur sightseeing

Very early this morning there is the opportunity to sail over the lofty hilltop forts and regal palaces of Jaipur in a hot air balloon, on our Balloon Over Jaipur Add-on. We then travel beyond Jaipur to the stunning 16th century Amber Fort, reaching its summit by jeep, where we enjoy a tour of the fort's well-preserved interior and grounds. Later we visit a cotton weaving house to see a demonstration of fabric dyeing and block printing before touring the City Palace and Jantar Mantar - an old yet cleverly designed space observatory.
Overnight: Jaipur  |  Breakfast

Day 7

Return to Delhi

Jaipur - Delhi. This morning we drive back to Delhi. The afternoon is free for you to further discover the city. Opt for a meal in the heart of the city or simply relax and chat with group members at the hotel.
Overnight: Delhi  |  Breakfast

Day 8

Delhi

Saturday. Touring arrangements come to an end after breakfast. Hotel check-out and included onward departure transfer to airport.
Breakfast

Discover Amritsar & the Golden Temple

Discover beautiful Amritsar, home to the world famous Golden Temple and the seat of the Sikh religion, on our 3 day/2 night Golden Amritsar bolt-on. Built in 1803 and made of marble, copper and pure leaf gold, the temple is an amazing architectural feat. During your stay, we witness the sunset spectacle at Wagah Border - the only road crossing between India and Pakistan where the fascinating changing of the guards and ceremonial lowering of the flags take place with great pomp to a cheering crowd of thousands.

Yusuf was a very good tour leader who was always helpful and consisderate of individuals on the tour. He was very knowledgeable about his country and explained the history thoroughly. He would rearrange the order of the tour at various times to make the tour flow more easily for the benefit of the participants. He would provide a buffer zone from some of the local vendors for us at times which was very helpful and useful to us.

I can say with certainty that he was one of the best tour leaders we have ever encountered. With our visit to India we have been to 80 countries so we have encountered many tour leaders throughout the years. Even though we were very tired by the end of the tour, it was a wonderful experience to see a small part of India. The heat at this time of the year coupled with our age lead to our being very exhausted at teh completion of the tour. Thanks to Yusuf for our pleasurable trip and great experience of India.

What a great holiday! This was our third group tour with On The Go and could not recommend them enough. India was fantastic with so many amazing sights to see. After the Taj Mahal being the most enjoyable highlight of the trip, the walk in the streets of Karauli was the second highlight. Getting away from all the big tourist attractions and just being able to walk through the streets was a great experience. Yusuf our guide is truly exceptional at his job.

Tour was well-organized. Our guide Yusuf was knowledgeable, professional. He handled the group well and was in charge at all times. Hence, we all felt safe and secure. My overall enjoyment of the tour was somewhat dampened by the heat, but that can't go against On the Go and/or Yusuf.

If there is anything -- two comments about the itinerary and one about the accommodation

Taj Mahal: if there is a time when the Taj Mahal has less people, then that would be the time to go. Our itinerary calls for visiting the Taj in the afternoon: I don't know if there are more people in the afternoon or less, the whole place was just crowded. The site itself was not well-organized (Indian government fault, not the tour's). People were shouting in the mausoleum and that just detracts from the whole experience.

Personally, I could have done without the day in Karauli and the village walk. The village walk felt a tad like poverty tourism to me. While some people may like that aspect of it, I didn't like it that much. Would have liked the option of upgraded accommodations, especially in Agra.

Everything about this tour was brilliant, our tour guide Yusuf was so knowledgeable about all the history behind the great places we visited plus he was very approachable and easy to talk to. I could not fault all of the accommodation and the service received whilst there. Well done to On The Go Tours for employing such experienced people

Totally loved the tour, our guide was so knowledgeable, informative and caring. He very subtly kept watch over us all, took time to check on everyone and really became part of the group.

I learnt so much about the history of India and Pakistan, the religions were brought to life equally and without bias and his personal stories were a joy.

I cannot recommend highly enough this tour and our guide and I look forward to my next trip to India (and beyond!) with you.

Excellent tour and the Guide could not have done more for us including filtering street hawkers and giving us realistic guide prices , He is an absolute Star and would love to have him on any further trips to India and anywhere else he covers. The tip pot worked a dream and Yusuf knew exactly how much to tip unlike us green tourists who would either under or over tip

First tour with on the go and you now have my loyalty for life, I could not fault the tour or the guide Sammy he was brilliant, The group of people was diverse and we all got along well. I would highly recommend for Single travellers also.

Looking forward to choosing my next tour and will probably go back and do more of India, I have never felt safer and in good hands. Only thing I would change is having the group meet on the first evening instead of on the morning of day 2.

5 Stars on the go and I look forward to taking my next trip with you!

Our fourth holiday with On The Go Tours. There were quite a few on this tour who were with OTG for the first time ...and they loved it. Another superbly organised holiday. We don't normally do 'tour' holidays ..but for India..... it's best to have a bit of organisation behind you, but with the freedom to have time to explore on your own. Now looking through the website to book my next tour to India......
